My surgery is on the 12th. My hospital won’t confirm the schedule until the day before. Which sucks a bit. I’d like to have more specifics :/.
But enough of my whining... I’m excited as the date gets closer. I donated a kidney to my sister laparoscopically in 2009 and the surgery will be similar. Gas pains were my only issue last time. My surgeon assures me that she has a technique to minimize that so I going into it without fear.
My biggest concern is adjusting to the restrictions of beverage and food amounts and making sure I’m getting enough. :/
Thank you. I completely trust my surgeon as well I just think my anxiety level went up when I was on my OR rotation for school and got to actually watch a surgeon do this procedure. Nothing bad happened but observing that freaked me out a bit.
Its like when they tell pregnant people not to watch videos of other women in labor. No need to promote the anxiety about the portion of your journey that you can't control. Focus on the outcome, and what you can do to prepare for the lifestyle change. This is a big deal, but it is going to be worth it. YOU deserve to be the best version of yourself and that's all we need to focus on. You will be glad you did.
July 12 actually, but who’s counting...1,2,3. LOL
good luck! The wait to get scheduled is the worse!! Once you know the date, it helps but it’s still exciting.
It’s really hard in these last days of the countdown to avoid the urge to splurge on junk or sweets or comfort food that I won’t get to have during my journey. :-/
July 12th!! Super excited.
Starting to worry about stocking up on supplements and post-op food. Also trying to prepare myself for my two week pre-op liver shrinking diet that I start on June 27th. :-/
