  1. ok, this is gross, but I have only had diarrhea - not run of the mill either - atomic! Is that normal?
  2. Me too!!! that is so funny, I was telling my husband "I can't tell if I'm hungry" I have the rumblings, but cannot decipher them yet. I think you're right - it'll take time to figure out this new stomach and time for my brain to catch up!
  3. Thanks! all the advise is so helpful. I kinda feel like I left the hospital and I've been on my own figuring this stuff out. I have accidently taken a big sip of water too - I'm so thirsty! I guess that how to learn what works and what doesnt' - trying it and seeing if you are uncomfortable.
  4. Are you feeling any better at 6 days out? I feel icky at this point!
  5. I am 3 days out from getting banded, feeling pretty bad today with gas pain and incision pain. Hope that all will pass soon. My question: I take 2 small pills for blood pressure, and 1 for depression. Can I take all these meds at once like I used to, can they fit through the band? Should I take them one at a time? Also, is tomato Soup considered a full liquid?
  6. Please - I ate 3 donut holes!!!
  7. try the scoop of flavorless Protein powder in the propel orange fitness water! it's delightful!!
  8. I am so desperate I just mixed flavorless protein powder in with my propel fitness water, and DAMN if it's not the most beautiful, tasty thing ever!!!:wink2:
  9. I am only on day 4 of the "2 protein shakes and a light low carb meal a day" pre-op diet. I feel like a zombie!!! And today I bent over and thought I'd faint. yikes.:wink2: How am I going to do this for 10 days???
  10. Thanks everyone for the advice!
  11. thanks for the thoughts and advice  I'm sure it will be fine - maybe I'll just ask for the loopy drug upon arrival! My husband is a nurse also, so that makes me feel better - he'll be watching me and reassuring me.
  12. Can anyone give me advice on the best protein powder to get? I would like something flavorless that I can add to broth, drinks, etc.
  13. Went to my pre-op appt yesterday and found out that my insurance will only pay for the Surgery Center here in town. I thought all along I'd be at the hospital, you know, in case something horrible happened during surgery like something was wrong with my heart or my foot fell off or something!!! Is the surgery center ok? any one had surgery at one? experiences? I had a bad time when I had my gallbladder out at the center - in recovery the nurse was on the computer and nobody checkin' me out, so I was forced to projectile vomit to get someone's attention! I am really nervous!!!
  14. I'm starting pre-op diet today for 10 days - surgery on 5/19. I am freaking out!
  15. some people want us to stay the way they are comfortable with - F 'em. Be tough. You are gonna do this just fine :frown: Next time, grab the bag of chips and lob it out the window!
  16. me too!!! I thought it was hilarious as well. But nice, for once to be just perfect Until I went to the nutrition eval, and the nice, skinny lady asked me how I thought I got to this situation. Well, I suck at dieting, I eat alot and I don't exercise - duh!!! I really tried to come up with a more pithy response, but that's the bottom line, isn't it? So she says, "you'll really need to adopt an exercise plan and focus on eating small amounts" - again, REALLY???? YOU THINK?? Goodness, would I be getting Lap Band if I wasn't committed to doing those things? OK, I'm finished ranting now  I'm gonna focus on the being perfect bit again...:smile2:
  17. I have PVC's that are made worse my caffeine, more weight, etc., but that I understand from the Doc are harmless. They feel awful, though. I have mild to moderate aortic insuffic. Wonder if I need to get a cardiac clearance for surgery?
  18. Sheila - I know!! This is what scares me the most:eek: I am doing 1/2 caff now and dying! Good to know I can have some after, obviously not like now, but FRICK! It's coffee, people! The lifeblood of my day! (I have two little kids and sleep about 2 minutes a night!)
  19. Cristi, same here - took Phen-Fen, loved it BTW - no hunger at all - then that pesky heart thing!! I have regurg too now. I'm alittle nervous about that and surgery. I know I will take antibiotics, but wonder if there are any other risks associated with it during surgery. I have echos yearly, and so far no change. Losing weight and getting my BP down will help, but it does scare me sometimes.:w00t:
  20. Gillian, Thanks! it worked -not quite as dramatic a walk as I had hoped!! I noticed your nic is gilliebean - my nickname in my family is Jillybean or Jillobean. how funny  Jill
  21. HI - Can anyone help me figure out how to make my ladybug move in my weight loss ticker? I have lost 6 lbs, and she needs to walk! Thanks
  22. Yellowrose, I was sooo nervous too, but it turned out great. I think they just want to know that you understand what you are signing up for, that you are realistic about lap and how it helps and your part in all that. Of course it's scary to be judged, but I'm sure the psych person will be kind - and they have seen it all so you can't throw anything at them that will surprise, shock, etc. Just be yourself, say you're nervous if you are. It will be fine
  23. Nicole, besides doing research, which helps me too BTW, have you tried to do some relaxation stuff? Start now so you'll have it down by surgery time. You can get books from library or bookstore on breathing meditation, which really helps slow those thoughts down. Go to a healthfood store and get some aromatherapy oils for relaxation. There is a great CD called "Reiki, Hands of Light" that I listen to when I do the breathing stuff. I found that if I kinda train myself to see these things (breathing meditation, the oils, the music) as a trigger to bring my anxiety down, it kinda becomes a reflex for my body to start relaxing. Also, if it's an option for you to do a one or two time visit with a good counselor, you can work on some positive self-messages about the surgery itself "Everything will go smoothly", "I will recover perfectly", etc. It sounds corny, but these things might give you some tools (I'm starting to hate that word!!) to deal with the anxiety and fear. Also, ask your doc for some surgery day anxiety meds if you are really freaking out!:tongue_smilie:
  24. I think everyone has that fear - it's tough not being in control of the situation and putting your safety in others' hands. What has made me feel better is that my husband is a nurse in Outpatient Surgery, and in the year he has been there and through THOUSANDS of surgeries, nobody has ever not woken up. Outpatient surgery is very safe. Also, a little pre-surgery anxiety medicine from you doc never hurt anyone!!!:tongue_smilie:
  25. Kat, I LOVE that analogy! I'm fixin to dig a big**s hole!:tongue_smilie: Another thing to remember is that we all have giant, difficult things we have gone through in our lives or accomplished in our lives. This will be another of those. We know we have the strengh and fortitude because we have survived being heavy - which we all know is no picnic! So, if I look at it that way, it's just another thing (a challenging, big thing, but just another one) to get through and learn from and grow from - or SHRINK from
