  2. Did a Dr tell you to get an infusion? Asking because I am always borderline anemic & take iron but the Dr has never recommended that for me. My ferritin count is always low even before the bypass.
  3. Did the dr put you on Prilosec or something like that for the ulcers? My daughter (who also had a bypass) was taking too much naproxen because her sciatica was flared up. She ended up with an ulcer. Her hemoglobin got down to 2.4 - she should have died! But she spent 3 days in ICU & got 6 units of blood. She was told to take Prilosec to heal the ulcer. I thank God every day that she somehow made it through! Dr told her he has never seen a hemoglobin that low! It’s crazy that she was walking around like that! Take care of yourself!
  4. I’ve never thought about calories that much. My program was more about protein.
  5. Since there is a lot of different foods on the table at holiday meals I just take a spoonful of each of them. I don’t have a deviled egg because they are so dense. Deserts are trickier because sometimes they make me dump & sometimes they don’t 🤷 just be aware that you might need to lay down.

  7. I did the Fast Metabolism Diet (Haylie Pomroy) to reach my goal weight. I wasn’t able to eat the amount of foods it requires but eating them in the phases was enough & I dropped the last stubborn 15 pounds!

I had gastric bypass almost 6 years ago & I lost over 60 pounds! This past December my best friends both got me tshirts. The shirts were very thoughtful, I was touched by both of the shirts they got me & how meaningful they would be to me, BUT I just realized that both of the tshirts are a size 2xl! They still have body dysphoria of me 6 years later!!!! It’s hard enough for me to deal with but it’s a whole other ballgame when your best friends don’t see it!!!! Sorry, I just had to rant & I don’t have anyone else to rant about this too since my best friends obviously don’t see me for the size I am now!

  16. Everyone dumps in a different way. This sounds like yours. I’m 5 years out. A food that I ate just fine one week can make me dump (I usually get nauseous) the next. There is no rhyme or reason to what does it to me. I just lay down until it passed.
  17. Everyone is different! I’m 5years out. My dumping is more like a hot flash with a very upset stomach. I have to lay down until it passes. I never had the foamies but I am nauseous A LOT! Sometimes I can eat a piece of cake with a ton of frosting & it doesn’t bother me. Other times I can’t. I only eat 3.5 oz of food at a time. I never know what my body is going to do. I am also constipated all of the time. My daughter is 4 y out. She slowly eats 5 meals a day. She has very loose, stinky bowl movements. She can’t eat a lot of sugar & drinks diet Dr Pepper but she would really like to drink regular sodas. I don’t like the taste of diet beverages so I drink an electrolyte replacement beverage. Bariatric surgery is kinda like pregnancy & your own kids. You don’t know what you are gonna get. I would like to know if there is a correlation between how much or a percentage of weight you loose & your symptoms afterwards. Best of luck to you!
  18. I’m 5 years out & I did not need to loose that much weight. I wish you the best of luck! My surgeon told me to go back to the basic, the diet of pre surgery. Liquids only. I know it is tough. Also look into the Fast metabolism diet that is how I got to my ultimate goal weight. It’s eating healthy foods in a certain order each week. You don’t need to buy any crazy pills to take every day, just eat a certain amount of foods. Even though we can’t eat the amount of foods the diet calls for, just following the food regimen was enough for me. I wish you the best of luck in your journey.
  19. Everyone is different. I am almost 6 years out. I made it to my goal weight about 1 1/2 years after surgery using the Fast Metabolism Diet for the last 6 months of that. I went back up 15 pounds but my body is happy here. I have never thought about calories. I have always concentrated on how many ounces I eat at a meal. I never go above 3.5oz total. 2oz protein & 1.5oz. I also eat 5 times a day. 3 meals & 2 snacks like cheese or fruit. You have to figure out what works best for you.
  20. Good job! I say the same thing every time I go shopping!
  21. Following Can’t wait to hear others helpful responses. Good luck! Physically you sound amazing!
  22. Congratulations! You look great! All your hard work has paid off!
  23. Hello from hot Arizona! Everyone is so different as to what makes them dump. I’m over 6 years out & can eat almost anything. Fruit can be tricky because of all the natural sugar. I just finished eating 3.5oz of watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, strawberry & grapes. I make little portion cups up with just a couple of bites of each fruit & keep them ready in the fridge for a late night snack. You just gotta start off slow to see what your body will tolerate & just because something makes you dump this week doesn’t mean that it is always gonna be that way the next time. Good luck
  24. You don’t need to take a lot with you to the hospital. All you really need is your phone charger and some Chapstick and your toothbrush and your hairbrush and slippers if you wear them. You could wear the same clothes home from the hospital that you wore to the hospital because you’re really not going to be in them for very long.
