  1. Congratulations! That's a major milestone!
  2. Maybe you or one of your friends knows someone disabled or elderly who would appreciate some home cooked meals? Or, another example, every Sunday my church brings a home-cooked meal to a local children's hospital for families who have children in the cancer ward since hospital cafeterias are quite expensive and the families are already so stressed.
  3. Welcome! It sounds like you are well on your way. The community is very friendly and supportive. I look forward to seeing your input in the forums! Congrats on your excellent success so far!
  4. You've also got lots of swelling right now. It will take several weeks to be totally gone. I went back to work 8 days post-op and my pants were tighter than the day of surgery! Very disappointing, but not unusual. Otherwise, I hope your recovery is going well!
  5. Congratulations, I hope all goes smoothly and that you have a speedy recovery!
  6. Good for you! I'm glad you finally got your surgery and hope you have a speedy recovery!
  7. No, I think her daily total is 25 oz. instead of the 64 oz. that is expected.
  8. Best wishes for a smooth procedure and a speedy recovery!
  9. Can you handle sugar-free Popsicles? How about some soothing hot tea? You need to find someway to get your liquids in. Even if you have to put some honey in the tea. The bit of sugar isn't nearly as important as getting your liquids.
  10. They should just go ahead and call this the "trial and error" phase
  11. It is. But it will get easier. I'm praying that you get over this rough patch quickly.
  12. I totally get you! I hate to eat out if I can't go straight home afterwards to put the leftovers in the fridge. I am rational, I understand that leaving food on the plate isn't going to help any starving children in 3rd world countries, but still, the waste! I would almost rather go and pay full price at a buffet and feel free to take my piddly 2 oz serving! I do ask the waitstaff to leave off the rice or potatoes. They try to insist that it's included in the meal and I explain that I just don't want to waste it because I won't eat it. But, I understand you wouldn't want to do that while eating out with clients. At least if I do get my food home all right, I know my ravening hoard will take care of the leftovers. (3 boys ages 22-24)
  13. How did you cook it and did you eat more than about 1 oz.?
  14. Hi Carlitar and welcome! The people on these forums are very friendly and supportive. Just dive right in to any discussion that interests you!
  15. Google kidney stone pain and see if that's where your pain is. Kidney stones are always possible and can be more likely if your fluid intake is low. Good luck and I hope you feel better.
  16. The Campbell's YES soups are good, I think I've had the butternut squash, and I also like the tomato carrot bisque. I don't remember who made the butternut squash one that I was talking about, but it was in a carton, like chicken stock. It was just such a nice change from all the sweet stuff. Here it is: It is carried at Target and Walmart. There was also a roasted red pepper soup that I liked.
  17. You can also try a variety of herbal teas. I only put maybe 1/3 packet of sweetener in them, so they're not so sweet. If you're on full liquids, you should be able to do soups as well. There's a pretty good butternut squash soup (totally smooth) that is kind of filling and makes your head feel like "yeah, that was a meal." It's in the soup aisle at the grocery store.
  18. I lost my first baby as well, ectopic pregnancy. I still grieve sometimes. And I was always a nervous wreck until the doc checked me out on the later pregnancies! Good luck!
  19. Congratulations! Sounds like your surgery was successful in making you more fertile. That's awesome. You may be a high-risk pregnancy and I'm sure your doctor will watch your hormones closely, but you should be able to have a healthy baby. Best wishes!
  20. @Frustr8 I'm starting to think you're the only normal one in your gene pool. Kinda like Daryl Hannah in "Clan of the Cave Bear" @Losebig Give them some time. Our instincts tell us that someone losing a lot of weight quickly is bad. Even if people know about your surgery, they still see your cheeks sunken in (I know that's what we wanted, but still) our skin hangs a bit loose for a while, maybe even some hair loss. They are not prepared for that. They'll have to get used to the new you. In the meantime, they will constantly walk around with their foot in their mouth and their head up their collective butts.
  21. You've got lots of company on this one! Not cheating on diets is a major cause of weight gain! Haha! This one, too! Congrats on deciding to take charge of your future. Good luck on your surgery and best wishes for a speedy recovery!
  22. Sounds like you've researched your pros and cons pretty well. I chose the sleeve precisely because of the malabsorption issue. One thing you didn't mention, do you have any issues with acid reflux? If so, that skews the decision toward bypass, since the sleeve can make it worse.
  23. My trick was sugar-free jello. Don't chew well. It's still slippery enough to go down easily, but it takes a while for your stomach to break it down so you get a bit of "fullness" feeling
  24. Please don't think we're critiquing what you said, we're all learning and you said something we hadn't heard before so our little ears perked up!
