Walk more than every two hours.. like every hours. You have to get that pain to move! Walking is the key. It will get better.

Intro time: who's new to the group, who's pre-op, & who just recently made it to the loser's bench?
Hi Natasha I am one week post op. So far so good. It has been easy recovery ( manageable pain and no nausea). The hardest thing for me so far is the head hunger. It was a big eye opener when I wanted BBQ chips and Mac and cheese on my way home from the hospital. Of course, I physically couldn't eat those things but I was surprised at how strong those desires were. Surgery doesn't cure that. You have to. It's been a sort of grieving process. But, I just journal about it and it goes away. I had the sleeve with pre existing reflux. The sleeve makes reflux worse but my doctor told me that it was caused by excessive weight and we could manage it with medication until I lost weight. So far I am fine. So here are my answers to your questions ( just my opinion) 1. The worse possible outcome if you don't follow a healthy diet and change your eating habits is regain, and even worse, that feeling of being a complete failure. Because many of us feel like this is our last resort. 2. Sure you will as long as you do the head work! I can't emphasize enough how important that is! Take this opportunity to learn about yourself. Ask those deeper questions. I am seeing a psychiatrist which I highly recommend for cognitive behavioral therapy. 3. Only you can answer those questions about why. Remember dig deep. Surgery is only a tool but it will all be for naught if you don't look at the psychology behind your particular behavior with food. When I was first asked that question, I said, " I just love food. I love everything about it. Nothing more." Well my psychiatrist called me on that superficial response and made me look at it deeper. Needless to say, I have learned a whole lot about myself!!! Good luck to you. You got this!!!! It's worth it. But do the mental prep work. Kim

They gave me the grossest tasting concoction right before I went into surgery. They said it was for post op nausea. It worked like a charm!

Favorite things you can do now that you couldn't before, or things you're looking forward to doing?
That autocorrect incorrectly. It was supposed to say "frist".

Oh I definitely have incision pain. Your description I'd accurate. But it's only when I bend over or move. Lol. Seriously I know it will get better. Tylenol is helping. I am going to try your suggestion about the 3 oz plastic cups. I need to play a mental game with this water thing!

Ditto on all of these things! Another one is not worrying when I sit in a chair if I will break it.

Serious Overeating & Binging Problems Post Op
You got this. You really do. The power is within you. Start over right now. Forget about what you did yesterday. Everytime you start to have negative self talk, stop yourself and think about something that you love about yourself. If you can't find anything that you love about yourself, find something to be grateful for. Shifting your inner voices to something positive is huge!!! Start journaling instead of eating and ask yourself the deeper questions that need to be asked. I have found that this journey for me is incredibly introspective. I am learning so much about myself. This is a necessary step. When you make a bad choice, instead of beating yourself up, trying loving yourself and just being curious. Curiosity not judgement. LOVE yourself! You are loveable!!! Please keep us informed. You gave support here. A big hug to you!! Kim

Can I still qualify for VSG with mild GERD?
I had sleeve in 4/3 because md told me even though the GERD would get worse for a little while, it would go away as i lose weight. He talked me out of the RNY . Well.... he was right. The GERD has definitely gotten worse.

I had my sleeve done onApril 4. The GERD is pretty awful but tolerable. It should go away as i lose weight. But what is so weird to me is that i feel like i can eat anything. I dont seem to get full. I am in full liquids but i can swallow whole pills that are huge. I can eat a whole packet of cream of wheat. It takes me longer but i still eat the whole thing. I wonder if my pouch isnt as small as most people.
