  1. I feel like we need one like DOYS - Depends On Your Surgeon. Since there are so many rules and diet differences between them.
  2. That's AWESOME! Congratulations!
  3. Are you sure what you're experiencing isn't head hunger?
  4. Welcome! Getting diagnosed with sleep apnea should help get you approved. Does your insurance require a comorbidity no matter the BMI? Most insurances will approve a BMI over 40 without comorbidity.
  5. Oh please tell me how you roast them!! That sounds yummy! I wouldn't mind getting a recipe for the Greek No Pasta Salad either!
  6. Oh man, I feel you! I’m right there with you missing my morning coffee. It helps to know the reason though when you are denying yourself the elixir of life. Besides avoiding that withdrawal headache while you’re also recovering from major surgery, caffeine can also cause delayed wound healing. Coffee is very acidic and can irritate the stomach.
  7. Welcome Peach! Hope you enjoy it here at BariatricPal! It’s a great place to get information not to mention the store with tons of bari-friendly items. The more you are involved in the forums the more points you earn to redeem on the stuff you need! See ya around the forums!
  8. Going to miss you Creek! Thanks for all your input and good luck!
  9. Happy someone can benefit from learning from my mistake!
  10. I think my first attempt to eggs will be egg drop soup! Anyone try that?
  11. How about trying ginger infused water as a substitute for ginger ale? ?
  12. I’ve been taking collagen too! Hoping it helps with the skin tightening postop.
  13. Yikes, this has been a worry for me, I’ve always been a fast eater!
  14. Thanks! I’m glad I stuck it through. Normally in the past I would have used it as an excuse to cheat.
  15. Sorry but I have to believe they are deluding themselves. There is just no way with a metabolism reset and keeping a nutritious diet under 1000 calories a day there is no reason you should regain that weight back.
  16. So I’m on my 2 week preop liquid diet and we decided to go camping this weekend. (Which was its own brand of hell in itself). I decided to freeze a couple bottles of Premier so they could naturally thaw in the cooler Saturday and be cold for today (Sun). Oh man, it did some weird separation in the thawing process and ended up being chunky. So not only did I have to endure my family enjoying grilled hamburgers, corn on the cob, and s’mores around the campfire, I had to choke down chunky peach premier.
  17. This is just so well put. I agree 100% and tend to do the same with regards to the groups I’m members of on Facebook.
  18. Yes. I thought the same. Because when I went for an endoscopy they asked me about ibuprofen Intake. 10 days to surgery?!? Me too!!! What is your date? I am August 6. We should definitely chat. Are you nervous/excited? I am both! Yes, Aug 6th is my day! Im more excited than nervous but I expect Ill get nervous eventually!
  19. I work in surgery with a surgeon that is in the Army part time. He was telling us that he had a Ruck March coming up and that he wasn’t looking forward to it. A Ruck March, if you’re unfamiliar, is a training exercise where the soldiers have to load up their backpacks with all their gear totaling up to about 60 pounds or more and go on a run.(that’s a very dumbed down explaination but the best I could do) As he was explaining it to all us nurses in the room several of them exclaimed they didn’t they could even stand to wear the heavy load, let alone run with it. They, of course, range from petite to normal sizes up to maybe a size 8 or 10. Except for me in my size 18 and I just thought... that’s my life. I DO carry around an extra 60-70 pounds of weight on my frame compared to them. That’s why I struggle to walk, run or exercise right now, just as they would should they throw on a ruck sack. I can’t wait to shed my ruck sack and be able to jog, run, Zumba without it on.
  20. My surgery coordinator set me up with a surgery date the day she submitted to insurance. It was June 6 and my surgery date is Aug 6. It could have even been a couple weeks earlier but that date worked out best with my vacation schedule.
  21. Depends what all youre consuming but you might be going into sugar detox? In which case, you can add a little sugar back into your diet or just power through. Ibuprofen isn't approved by all surgeons and my surgeon doesn't want me taking it now (I'm 10 days until surgery) so check first before taking it.
  22. Congrats on your progress so far! Cutting breads and excess sugars is a very good start! Start looking at your protein intake. This will help keep you full and you will need to do it after surgery as well anyway, right? Good luck!
  23. How’s everyone doing that’s on their preop liquid diet?? I was struggling with my surgeon required Optifast shakes but found that adding a little sugar free pudding to it thickens and covers up the gritty texture! Aug 6 - only 12 days to go!
  24. See this is why I always look for your posts, they are well researched and very informative. Im always grateful you've stuck around, Creek!
  25. Yeah Im sorry I missed the Ape comment, I bet it was fascinating. You know what, youre absolutely right, regain will never ever be a concern for me, you are so so smart. And YES I just saw a chance to jump in and trash talk you, youre right again. Congrats, as soon as I figure out how to ignore users on this site, youll be my first one.
