  1. I can SO relate! I quit smoking October 24 and it’s been rough. The surgeon told me I had to be smoke-free 6-8 weeks prior to surgery and I was REALLY hoping to get in before the new year (didn’t happen). Anyway, I told myself in June that I would quit by Halloween. I started cutting out one cigarette a week...only having 1 or 2 on my lunch break instead of 3-4, only 1 on the commute instead of 2, etc. The last one I cut out was my morning smoke. I also decided to do a practice quit the week before my final deadline so I had room to have one or two if I really needed it before my REAL quit date. But I must have been ready to quit because I never needed one. It isn’t always easy, but I can breath so much better already!! Good luck with quitting!
  2. My pre-surgery diet is full liquid for 2 weeks. My food options are: protein shakes, skim milk, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, tomato or cream soups, applesauce, sugar-free pudding, sugar-free jello, and broth. And lots and lots of water or zero-calorie/no-sugar beverages. No caffeine. Very low sugar. I need to do at least 60g of protein and 1000 calories or less. Last night I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries for dinner. I felt like a prisoner enjoying their last meal! Haha!!
  3. February 6 my surgery date too! I just started the pre-op liquid diet today and MAN am I hangry this evening! Gonna be a long two weeks but SO worth it!
