  1. thanks for meeting me after the support group. PS, the evergreen tree was still standing! See you Saturday.
  2. Where do you live in Lockport? I just went to a concert. I want to go to Jane and Company. We could meet for a healthy lunch?
  3. Way to Go!!! You will be at the park with us in no time!
  4. Bugs, call the clinic about the seminar, since China just got an invite to the seminar perhaps you will be getting one soon. China, what day is the seminar?
  5. I will be at the park August 16. I heard from Nicki and she will be there too. I will only go around once as I have a meeting to attend. I know Linda Tatu will not be there.
  6. Everyone is seeing Dr. Hoffman on the 26th!! I was supposed to but I had a work appointment so I am going in September. Too bad, because then I could meet all of you! Sounds like you are doing well. I am doing ok, but am having a hard time breaking some bad habits, like eating in my car, I get sick everytime I do that. I am glad I did this as well. I agree, I have cut my intake way down. I was hoping to lose a little faster but it is going down anyway. I do not think about eating all the time either, which is nice. Take care, thanks for the update.
  7. Bru and Rain, how are you and your husbands doing? Can we get an update?
  8. Stop losing. I do not think they will hold you to a strict 5%, but I think if you are underweight they will not do the surgery. LindaTatu will know next week, as she is under 35 BMI, she will probably share the outcome. She is trying to eat enough to keep at the 35 BMI.
  9. You have a valid issue Band of gold, most of the people I met lost more weight before the surgery then after, and most of the one I know have hit a plateau. It kind of scared me going into the surgery knowing that, since I wondered if it really works in the long run. I would like to meet someone who has lost their goal weight and kept it off. I am sure there are plenty, I just have not met them. I worry about the same thing, is this really better than dieting alone? I think it will be, as I know I can not eat as much as I used to, so I am just hoping for a good outcome.
  10. Candle, congratulations on your loss!! Sue, I have not heard of too many patients being turned down by insurance. good luck with your quest!
  11. Vicki, wow, Dr. H. is sure a busy guy-seems like everyone is seeing him the week he gets back to work! How are you doing with the band? I went to the fair tonight, only had some battered vegetables. It sure if different without the eating, but I had fun. When my husband was alive he ate everything there, he loved it, and I would have a bite of everything he bought. No room for too many bites now, but I enjoyed myself. Spent more money on "stuff" then food. It is good to know there is still life after the band! Just a little different focus. Have a good week, hope to meet you soon.
  12. Val, forgot to tell you, your hair cut looked great. did you do it this week?
  13. It was hamburger, but it was a little over cooked. It is truly my fault, I was not even sitting down eating, I was on the run as usual. Probably why I was fat to begin with. I went back to soup last night and today I just had eggs with cheese and tomatoes. You are right though, too big and too fast. And when I cook my own burger it is not as dry, this was from a restaurant. I am learning, slowly it seems!!!
  14. My cell is working, 997-4945. I leave for the park at 7:30 am. If it is raining any who wants can call and meet me at Jazzercize. Looking forward to seeing you all.
  15. I went back to eat a little more and it got stuck, I have been throwing up since. I think it is back to soup or cottage cheese for me for a few days.
  16. 675-3222 is my home, my cell is not working well, not sure if will be fixed by tomorrow or not. If it rains I will go to Jazzercise from 8:30 to 9:30, if you want to come there the first visit is free. That will be only if it is pouring. It is near Ridge and Abbott. If it is just drizzling a little we still try to walk.
  17. I am hoping to attend as well. I have to travel for work the next day but I think I will be able to come to the group and drive to work too. We will see--I am one of the oldies of the group, not as easy as it used to be, LOL. I went to Lelito and it went well for me. I just tried to eat part of a hamburger, I still eat too fast when I am home alone. Just walked in from a trip and tried to wolf it down. When will I learn? I did stop before the pain though, but still had one bite too many. Ugh.
  18. Time to sign up for this Saturday, August 9. I will be there to walk.
  19. I am hoping to but I have to see what my travel schedule for work is. They have something special they want me to do and I have not been able to schedule it yet. Will let you know, but at this point, I hope to go.
  20. You should be able to have it done by the end of the year. It is usually a few months after your seminar. You have to have a colonoscopy if you are over 50, you need to be checked for sleep apnea, you need a urine test for cortisol levels and some blood work. You also need a psychological evaluation by someone who deals with patients for weight loss surgery. I just looked over your last emails, it seems that you have already been to a seminar, so you should definitely be done by the end of the year.
  21. OK, keep in touch. I hurt myself at least once a day too. The amount just seems so small! I just looked it up, there is a support group meeting August 20, maybe that would help. Take care.
  22. Can you meet us in the park next Saturday? You will get a lot of help from the other ladies. Sorry, I could not even get my ticker on much less help get one off!
  23. I am not sure what to tell you, I can not give medical advice. I would try to measure my food, eat slow so you can stop before the pain. I usually get a warning twinge. I am going on September 2, we can meet! I think mine is at 10 am or so. What time will you be there. Please be careful. It does not sound good to eat that much. Will you learn from the pain do you think? The pain has helped me to slow down for sure.
  24. Hi, I am not from Long Island, but was banded by Dr. Aaron Hoffman who was trained by Dr. Geiss and did quite a few bands there. Anyone know him? He had a great teacher. Post op, I was back to work in 5 days. Never had pain, unless I eat too much. No surgical pain though. It is different for everyone. I was about 200 pounds and I roomed wit a lady that was about 400, she had a real hard time compared to me. I did have bad post surgical nausea though. I am down about 13 pounds.
  25. 5% of your total body weight. You might be able to get away with 4%, sometimes they seem flexible. It also depends on your insurance company.
