May Surgery Buddies
I was 5/6 too. My incision where the drain was hurts the worst. Nausea is tolerable. Walking helps feel less stiff and full of gas. Passing gas and burping are highly encouraged to work all that air out. My program has us doing 30z clear fluid until tomorrow. Tomorrow has to be 50-64 clears and we are allowed 1 Greek yogurt.

TMI question ?♀️
How long did it take you to have a bowel movement after your RNY? I hear it can take up to 7 days to have one…not liking that idea so I’ve been taking miralax daily so far. How long for you? Did you need something to help get it going? ?

Just had sleeve to RNY
Yesterday was my sleeve to RNY. Less pain overall but still painful where the drain is and gas pains. Walking has been easier. Ice chips are easier. Nausea sometimes gets me. Will keep you all posted with process and success!

Absolutely hate myself now
I’m reading a lot of things that sound like suicidal ideation in your comments. I’m a clinical social worker and should you be serious and not just grieving/processing the new lifestyle you have… Suicide hotline: 800-273-8255. Open 24/7

How long are you missing work?
I’m taking 3 weeks off. I was sleeved in 2017. At that time I arranged 2 weeks off. Didn’t feel ready to go back to a job on my feet most of the day, so I took a 3rd. This time I’m starting with 3 weeks. I’m sleeve to RNY on 5/6.

My hell week starts tomorrow (April 26th)
I had to take a mucinex last night. Not supposed to take many meds, if any, on the LRD but the mucus was making me gaggy and nauseous ? took a covid test this AM, negative thank god. Just a cold or allergies. Not good timing! ?

My hell week starts tomorrow (April 26th)
@colocoral, I think a lot of surgeons still do the liquid/clear fluids diet because it shrinks the liver so significantly and makes surgery that much easier. ??♀️ Anything that makes my surgery safer is doable for me. Thank goodness it’s only 1 week.

My hell week starts tomorrow (April 26th)
I think 10 lbs is likely! I was told 12-15lbs on the LRD for my weight.

My hell week starts tomorrow (April 26th)
I’m hoping those on here on the LRD are doing okay ? while I’m tired, I’m not dying as much as I thought I would. Chicken broth is helping a lot, something hot to break up all the cold liquids is nice. I’m using almond milk in shakes or fairlife, Powerade zero or protein2O dragon fruit flavor, and chicken or beef broth. I haven’t needed to “chew” so I didn’t buy any popsicles or SF jello. We are doing this!!!!

My hell week starts tomorrow (April 26th)
I’m alright. Minus the tension headache. I’m out of caffeine withdrawal (did that last week before the LRD) so I think my body is just mad ? ??♀️

Confused by Consult
I’m a revision from sleeve to bypass on 5/6. The sleeve gave me awful GERD and some regain. If you have GERD already I’d get a bypass to avoid the likelihood of having to revise.

Kinda TMI question...
I was spotting the day of my sleeve back in 2017. I had a pad in, mentioned it to the nurses and they just asked “is it maxi?” ? turns out you can leak a little during surgery anyway soooo yeah. Pad was not a big deal.

May 2022 surgery?
Whoever said “more anxious” I am right there with you. I have more energy now that I’m 15 days away but it’s definitely anxiety based ?

Fluid Intake
Yep. My liver shrinking pre op diet starts 4/29. I started trying to get the 64 oz each day as of yesterday, to practice. My god I was in the bathroom SO many times. My body is used to being dehydrated. So I hear you, it is work!

Kept it Quiet?
I had a sleeve in 2017 and told my best work friend and parents. When I started losing weight so rapidly, people thought I was dying, like from cancer or something. And I had no idea until said work friend came to me and was like “this is getting out of hand, how have you not heard anything, say Something!” Ha. Now I’m doing a revision to bypass and I am shouting it to the world. I’m so excited! And definitely want no one to think I’m dying!

Bipolar Out Break 8 Months Later
Was there not a psychologist or psychiatrist in your Bariatric consults or team? We have 2 in our program as resources for patients with mental health needs. I’d hate for that to not be common :( so sorry you are struggling! I wish I had insight but all I have is a friendly internet hug ?
