Intimacy / mental health / pre-op thoughts
Thanks for the read! This article does state " However, if the person was overweight or obese when the relationship or marriage began, the chances of that relationship or marriage ending within two years after the surgery is 80 to 85 percent." Also, It does seem to focus on a relationship where both couples " have shared the problems of overeating and obesity" Just wanted to clarify for folks who skim through this.

High Triglycerides- Advice Needed!
Prior to surgery I was on a statin and my PCP removed me from the medication before my surgery after monitoring my levels for over a year. They thought that they were high due to a episode of Diabetic Ketoacidosis. It made sense at the time because the first time I had high results was during my DKA attack. I just had my vitamin levels checked and everything came back good except for my lipid panel. I haven't been on a statin since surgery and now my Triglycerides are 343. NO BUENO! I'm very disappointed to have to go back on daily medication. I've been off everything since surgery. Has anyone had experience with their cholesterol, NOT improving after surgery? Or perhaps, taking longer to improve? Any advice is wanted! I'm pretty concerned because I'm looking to start a family in the next year, and you can't take statins while pregnant . Also, I'm at an increased risk of using fertility medication, which increases your cholesterol and pregnancy does as well. The pregnancy issue is still away off, but I'm nervous for obvious reasons.

Poll: What is your goal?
I am 5'4 and I started at 332. I am currently 256lbs. I would love to be down to 140-150, but ultimately somewhere in the 1's would be great! My greats NSV so far has been having more energy and not having to blink an eyelash when I go to pick out an outfit in my closet. It all fits, most of it too big now!

RNY and a Family
I like the ones that I ordered through this website. The variety pack was nice to try them all! https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/protein-bars Or there is a good one at Vitamin Shoppe (online too) that is plant based protein https://www.vitaminshoppe.com/p/fit-plant-based-high-protein-weight-loss-bar-smores-12-bars/gu-1351

So I forgot to look at the whole label
My NUT told me to keep the carbs under 20 grams, but to do yogurt with ZERO added sugar. There may be sugar from the fruit, but I always keep an eye out and keep my sugar intake under 7 grams per serving for whatever I am eating.

Bulk shopping.
I agree with @Creekimp13. My taste buds changed a lot too and I wasted so much stuff. I bought 5 boxes of SF popsicles and I still have 5 boxes. They were way too sweet for me afterwards.

I keep a Tuna Packet in my purse at all times in case I can't find anything to eat on the go. Other things you can keep are unsweetened apple sauce, almonds, turkey snack sticks, roasted chick peas, premade (unopened) protein shakes, and protein bars (but watch the sugar!). Obviously these are just items you don't have to worry about refrigerating. If you keep a lunch box or cooler, the options are limitless. It doesn't seem easy now, but it becomes second nature. I've found that there are little places I go that I can't find something on the menu to modify to meet my dietary needs.

Please don't be disappointed
Saw my mom last night and no tears but she did keep calling me “tiny”. She said I look happier. It was very reassuring to see her! Thank you for all the support!

Stall finally broke!!
Holy crap, 7 weeks! Man I would be a wreck. And the sad thing is I've just hit my 3 month stall. I hope I don't have to wait that long. What did you do to break the stall?

Has anyone's sleep apnea worsened since surgery?
Morning Matty. I don't know if this is the case, but sleep apnea happens a lot in older folks due to their muscle tone weakening. I wonder if as you loose weight you may have some tone issues in your neck that results in increased apneas. I'm taking a stab in the dark of course. One thing I will say, I wouldn't worry about it until you've seen those results for a least a week or more. All kinds of factors could be in play, you could have opened your mouth in your sleep to have caused the machine to think you had an apnea.

Bowel Movement
Any type of plain flavored solvable fiber will work. I don’t suggest starting on a fiber regimen until you’ve “cleared out”. You could get a bowel blockage. Take Milk of Magnesium to get things moving. Also, you have to really keep up on your fluids to incorporate fiber, just make sure you are doing it in the right way.

anyone else get nausea feeling from drinking water??
It is a thing. My surgeon said it has to do with the "texture" of water not agreeing with your pouch. I can't drink plain water AT ALL and I'm almost 3 months post op. My surgeon recommended adding lemon, cucumber, or do fruit infused. Obviously other options are calorie free mixes like crystal light, caffeine free herbal tea, or calorie free sports drinks like PowerAde Zero.

Exercise and Calories
I do too! And I don't feel guilty about it. I will eat whole grain bagels, bread, and pasta! Now I don't daily or anything, but I will partake in some protein pasta every other week. I love me some spaghetti! I also eat fruit every day. I don't think I could go without. I love fruit
