  1. I just got my FMLA paperwork to complete before my surgery. I'm a bean counter and basically spend my days glued to my desk. I also moonlight as a waitress on Saturday nights. I'm guessing that it will take me longer to get back to working at the restaurant. For my regular job I'm thinking if I'm having surgery on a Tuesday that I could possibly go back the following Monday...6 days?? How long were you out of work and what industry are you in? Thanks [emoji16]
  2. Thank you for responding ....it's awesome to directly hear from someone who has experienced what I may soon. These types of things are exactly what I need to hear because that's exactly where my head will go!
  3. I found this to be one of the most meaningful responses that I have received....and the timing was/is perfect. Thank you very much!
  4. As I'm counting down to my date, Nov 14, I'm passing time reading all of these wonderful posts! Pre-Op diet starts on the 1st. What's the average weight loss and how long will you continue to loose ...avg starting weight 210 and 5'2'
  5. My surgery is scheduled for the same day![emoji4][emoji4]Twins!
  6. Wellll...can me some drinks that are tolerable?!?! [emoji16]
  7. Soooo excited!!...went to Costco to load up on my shakes for upcoming 2 week preop diet. I got chocolate and banana. I thought that I read on here that there are clear fruity premium protein shakes at Costo. I couldn't find them at the one near me up near Boston. Can anyone validate that these do exist and where I might find them...probably online I know.....but my insatiable nature would love to head to a brick and mortar and buy them nowwwwww[emoji12]
  8. Is the width end up being the same for everyone?
  9. Chantix for me too. I was nervous about the horror stories of the mind but I think I was preoccupied thinking about doing all of the pre-work surgery....oh but my dreams are awesomely vivid! Love that part![emoji12]
  10. Does anyone know how the Doctor determines how much of the stomach is removed during sleeve surgery?...Is it a standard amount? Does it depend on the size? I've been continuously thinking about this while I wait for my big day...
  11. Since your BMI is so low (from an insurance standpoint) you need to identify any and all potential comobes...tell your coordinator and doctor about your BP...it all needs to be considered...also not sure what your insurance is but family history is sometimes considered and you are using the surgery as a preventative measure yada yada
  12. I think you need to maintain through insurance approval but once that happens, losing weight shouldn't risk surgery. In fact, I think I recall it being indicated that losing weight actually shrinks the liver, making the surgery easier for the surgeon.
  13. That's cool...how are you? How do you feel?...yada yada...what's it like a year out?
  14. So I got the call yesterday and lucky for me there was another patient who had to cancel and that's how the November 14 date became available....the other dates were very few and far between. The reason given was holiday schedules. Believe me I wish I could schedule it for tomorrow. I guess it's tricky this time of year so you have to pause and say to yourself at least you got the approval and your done with all of those preliminary appointments...that too (at least for me) seemed like it was such a long way out...but really time does fly and we'll be on our way to check in on surgery day. I would still call everyday and see if there was a cancellation that you can slide into...just blame it on your excitement. I'm sure they're completely used to it. Are you already assigned to a specific surgeon? I do try to pass the time reading all of the forums on here .[emoji4][emoji12]
  15. So awesome you get to do it together!!
  16. So happy and so grateful...I no longer have to stalk the financing and insurance forum!!! They said yes!
  17. I got the call this afternoon. I recognized the number but was almost hesitant to answer. I have been already mentally preparing myself for the denial by reading some of the posts on here and the successes that people ended up having anyway...eventually... Just so grateful to have been given another tool to use on my road to a healthier lifestyle. Woo Woo
  18. I've been reading a ton of posts on this site since I've begun my journey. I've gained a ton of knowledge ...you guys/gals are all amazing!! This is my first post. I've completed all of the pre-op requirements and my case has been submitted to my insurance for approval. I have GIC Unicare Idemnity in Mass through my employer. There isn't much info that I can find in wit members guide or on the internet about their approval process, stats, how long etc. I also read a ton of posts in this forum and haven't come across anyone who has this same insurance. My doctor has had patients in the past who have had this insurance. I am borderline 39/40 BMI, for co-mobs, my doctor is comfortable using my family history and putting the sleep ap test on layaway. I can't get a clear "what are the requirements" from the insurance co. I'm so anxious...Can someone offer me something to ease my mind? XOXO
