  1. My doctor tole me to wait until I was a month out before taking my vitamins, so I'm ready to start taking them. I got the chewable multivitamins, but calcium citrate in pill form. I didn't realize how big the Calcium citrate pills were, they're longer than the multivitamins I was taking before surgery. Can I have these? How long out until you all started taking the calcium pills?
  2. My surgeon gave me the okay to start "Soft-Mushy food" during week 3-5. It says eat "3 meals a day, each should have 1 oz meat, 1 TBSP fruit 1 TBSP veggies. "When eating animal protein, start with ground meat consistency, Beef, pork, chicken, turkey etc. then gradually increase to pulled or shredded." So here I have some bbq pulled pork, frozen, had it before, it's really mushy. I get it from Sams Club. The family is having it, but I don't know if I can have an ounce of it or not. What are your thoughts? http://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/calories/byrons-fully-cooked-pork-bbq-sams-club-342569292 It meets the single digit sugar/fat requirements laid out by my nutritionist, it's not ground, but it's much mushier than traditional pulled pork
  3. Thanks for the advice. I had some last night, was really careful about chewing thoroughly. Felt fine after... could have had more, left some on my plate, didn't want to overdo it my first time eating.

    Exercising post op

I started walking a mile a day, 2 hours after my surgery ended. At my 2 week post-op I told my doctor I was walking over a mile a day, to which he replied it's simply not enough. I need to do an hour of going at least 2.5-3 MPH. There's just no way at my current weight I can do that, even if I was getting enough calories to fuel myself. I'm just too heavy, my back too bad right now. If I was the type of person able to do that, I wouldn't be this big... lol. I did manage to push it to 2.7 mph for over a mile today, just going to take it as I can, I'm losing weight at a good pace my nurses told me. I was told I have no restrictions, I asked if I can lift a piano, and he said no restrictions.
  5. I just guessed what I should be at. Now that I think about it, my doctor asked what my goal weight was, and never gave me feedback on it.
  6. I've been scared out of my mind about getting the surgery. I've never been under before, I'm a big guy. Food has been my life. I've been lurking here for a while, resisting signing up. During my two weeks of liquid diet, I've been telling friends and family "I don't need it". "Look at me, this liquid diet has been simple, I can do two protein shakes a day and a light dinner or vice versa with breakfast. I've tried talking myself out of it as recently as yesterday... I might not need it, I might be able to do it without the surgery, but lurking here, reading all your hardships and successes, I know that I can take the surgery, and the lifestyle change I'm currently undergoing. Wish me luck; one more day of clear liquid, then it's go time.
