Second Guessing not doing RNY
Sleeve surgery in 40 days. DR originally recommended RNY because of all of my health problems, esp diabetes, but told me it was my choice if I wanted to do sleeve. I just was too scared to do RNY! Plus I'm most likely moving to an area in Georgia with less doctors familiar with that surgery since it's so new. I can't help but think that I'm going to relapse like SO many other people. I'm terrified of relapsing. Food is my drug of choice so I think that's why I'm afraid I'll fall into bad habits after awhile. Ugh! Why was I so scared! It has great results! He told me I could always do the RNY part later but... I see what kind of an emotional impact rebounding has on people on this group.

I'm scheduled for Sept 25, but this is a bit concern for me. My fiancé says I can get surgery but idk that we can afford it.... I am just praying some skin still has elasticity.

Anyone scheduled for september
Journal is a good idea! I need to get on that. I'm also wedding planning, so I need to set that aside for now and focus on getting my head straight for surgery. I'm so nervous about sleeve relapse that I hear is so common. My doctor wanted me to do the switch.... but I wasn't brace enough... oh well..Sept 25th here I come!

Silly Me - Psych Eval.
I've had extensive issues in the past with depression/anxiety for years and years now. I was very concerned that I wasn't going to get approved. At my eval I was very honest, because I wanted to make sure I was making the right decision for my health. I think the most important think was that I was stable and in a good place with my current anti depression meds. I got the sense they just wanted to make sure I was stable and ready for such a huge change. Just be honest. Don't try to stress.

How long did the process take for you?
I was shocked that I didn't have any extra steps with insurance. Start to finish it took me about four months from first appt to get surgery scheduled (which I just did today)! I know it can be different for different doctors and insurance companies though.

Gatorade
Oh man I want to know the answer to this. I'm pre op, but I am so nervous about my numbers jumping all over the place! ansavla-- if you don't mind me asking, how did you manage the highs and lows?

2nd Day Post-Op
Why couldn't they give gas meds? We can't even take gas x? I had another surgery this year and had lots of gas from it. Gas x helped so much.

Water Intake/Vitamins Post Op
I just got approval for surgery today... scheduling should happen soon. Hooray! But I'm way nervous about water. I'm the WORST about drinking water as it is and worried I'll get dehydrated really quickly. I'm also worried about malnutrition just because there are so many differing opinions. The nutritionist I met with said I can continue with bariatric vitamins but that the most important was first couple of months post surgery to see how I do... did anyone stick with a specific water/vitamin regimen that helped? I'm WAY nervous! Thx

Swallowing pills post op
I take like upwards of 10 pills a day and my doc told me to get crushable versions of each prescription if they aren't in a form that can be crushed or opened

Social Drinking?
I'm preop but my dietician told me no carbonated drinks ever (so sad about that) and that if I did drink that 1 would be my max because it would hit my blood alcohol so fast
