  1. I can eat salad no problem...i try to do that at work..we get lunches alot from the drug reps and I always try to get a salad. I have been on this I need chocolate kick lately and not sure why cuz I really am not a chocolate eater...more of a carbaholic. I just need to get back to being a good girl and learning to say no to the sweets. I just wish it was wasy to go back to how full u felt right after surgery with very little food. Thank You guys for some food ideas. Ohh and I love Wendy's chili actually had that for dinner tonight. anyone have any ideas on sweet stuff that isnt bad for ya... i need something to curb that sweet tooth that is showing its ugly head.
  2. I have gotten to a point where I am frustrated with myself and know that I have not been eating like I should. Have not been to the gym in a while since I have had alot of overtime at work and not able to get there to do anything. I was looking for some ideas on things to eat to get me back on track. I go on the 29th to see my doc and possibly get a small fill adjustment. I know that I have not been eating like I should and need some help from all of u. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Ohh and I dont like fish other than tuna lol and I despise mushrooms....Thanks
  3. Had my lap band done 2 years ago and I am now heading in to have a hysterectomy done next month. Was just wondering if anyone else with the band has had this surgery with the band. Wasnt sure if there will be any specific complications or restrictions with it..Any advice would be greatly appreciated
  4. As my doctor say..."NEVER EVER put off calling the doctor when u are having pain." And I had that situation of no food going down and throwing it all up and only being able to take in fluids. I went in the very next morning and he took a little fluid out. I felt so much better.
  5. Mine is on my right side...about midway between my belly button and my boob...kind of on that diagonal. I dont think there is a specific side it is to be on but I think it the surgeons preference. Maybe it is the side of the operating table they are standing on lol.
  6. I love my band!!! Not everyone is gonna have problems. This was the best decision I have ever made in my life.
  7. Just an update on this post....I miscarried the baby at 7 weeks on 2/27/09. Worst thing I have ever experienced in my life. Hoping it had nothing to do with the band that I lost the baby. The doctor said it was just not meant to be.
  8. Was a big surprise..my boys are 14 and almost 21...guess losing the weight made me Fertile Myrtle. Hoping for a good outcome now that the shock has wore off
  9. Well I gotta figure out how to post pics.. Am super excited to be down from a size 24 jean to a 18...BUT..just found out I am pregnant so hopefully wont put too much back on
  10. I am currently 5 weeks pregnant...and having a few problems OB wise. No trouble with the band yet. I was wondering if anyone else here ended up pregnant before our 1 year bandiversery, and if anyone is havng any troubles OB or band wise. Need lots of sticky baby dust for this one,
  11. Thanks fairie.. I did call the doctor on Sunday and they sent me for bloodwork. My levels are low and I just started progesterone supplement last night (which by the way makes u dizzy as all get out) and have to go today around noon for another test to see if my levels are rising. Hoping for the best. This will be baby number 3 for me ( my other 2 are 20 and 14) and was a complete surprise. Never had these problems with my other 2. Keeping my fingers crossed:thumbup:
  12. I am about 5 weeks pregnant and started spotting this weekend. Went and had a HCG level drawn today and the doctor called and said to call the office in the morning that my level seemed a bit low.. I am so worried and dont want to lose this baby even though it was a surprise..has anyone else had these problems??
  13. Well I am a nurse in a physician's office so lots of people see me on a daily basis. I tell anyone who asks me how I am losing the weight that I had lapband surgery. The doctor I work for asked me if I minded if she told the patients who were thinking about the surgery that I had it done and if they had questions to ask me. I don't mind at all. I share with them all my experiences. I have thrown so much business to the surgeon who did my surgery ...he needs to give me a kick back for all the business hee hee
  14. Sorry to hear about ur friend.. Good luck with your surgery.. She will be watching over u thru it all
  15. There are different numbers on the Nioxin...which one is the best one to use??
  16. OK question for u guys. I am 6 months post op and have been having some hair loss. Not major patches or anything. But everytime I wash my hair or comb my hair there is a noticable amount of hair being lost. I have thin hair to begin with and dont wish to be bald. I get my requirements of protein a day if not more so I know that is not the problem. I have also had blood work done and it is nothing to do with that. Does anyone have any tricks they know of that can reduce the hair loss that doesnt involve increasing the protein. Oh and I also take 2 Biotin vitamins a day too ( hair nail and skin vitamin) I know that hair loss can occur after surgery and rapid weight loss... but this SUCKS... would appreciate any thoughts:lol:
  17. I have had 2 fills and I HATE needles. They were not bad at all or I wouldnt go back for more lol. Just a tiny prick and pressure thats all. My first one was done in the Xray dept. and the second one was done in his office. Made me lift my legs up in the air which tightens ur tummy mucsle and he found the port right away and one stick presto add a little saline and done. Slap a bandaid on ya drink some water...and u are out the door. No need to worry about it at all.
  18. It all depends on what u can tolerate after the surgery. I can eat red meat (hamburger, steak) if chewed well. I also can eat a little bit of nuts again if i chew them up well. I cannot handle bread so I do not eat it although I love it. I try to eat my protein first then my veggie. Nowhere does it say u can never again have a sweet. U can have something sweet here and there u just dont want to make it a habit or u will not lose the weight. I will occasionally have some sugar free ice cream. I have tried soda but it makes me very gassy so I stick to my diet ice tea which I handle the caffeine in that fine.
  19. U are hungry ...aint it great to actually hear ur tummy be hungry.
  20. The support groups are great...lots of very friendly people ..u have any questions u can ask any of them.. they are from all stages of the process. I usually go to the meetings. I live in Windber right in front of the hospital but I work for Conemaugh Hospital lol.
  21. HI Karen I am in Windber which is right by ya... I had my surgery on April 7th and am doing very well.. Which doctor are u having to do your surgery. I had Dr. Marley. I do know that Dr. Darcy Duke is now doing the procedure at Conemaugh Hospital.
  22. Well I have received alot of hand me downs from other friends who are also losing weight. I have a fellow bander who gave me all her scrubs that she shrunk out of (lol) so I dont have to buy all new scrubs. Also u can get alot of nice clothes at Goodwill or the second hand stores. There is no need to buy brand new clothes when u are changing sizes so quickly. U can splurge and buy urself a nice outfit at a special goal. But I wouldnt spend alot money on every size u end up getting to.
  23. I love my band. I researched the band before getting it also. I am a nurse so it is my nature to investigate it before I got it. The only way u get the "stuck hotdog" feeling is if u overeat or u dont chew well enough. I have told numerous people about my band. I work in a doctors office and have become kind of a spokesperson per say for the band. They are amazed at the weight I am losing and how well I am doing since the surgery. They ask me questions about the surgery and are motivated by my weight loss. I am not ashamed that I had the surgery. I am proud that I am finally losing the weight. And keeping it off. I am more active now then I have ever been.
  24. So what is everyone doing for exercise?? I joined the gym last month and have been steadily increasing how much I do up there. Tonight after work I am gonna take my first Deep water aerobic class. This should be fun. I am hoping that my lack of weight loss lately is actually due to me working out at the gym and firming things up.. hopefully. What is everyone else doing?? Have u noticed that u have more energy even though u are eating less..that just amazes me.
