  1. Hi! Well I am almost 50 pounds down since surgery on June 11th!!! So I am literally melting!! All my pants are 2-3 sizes too big and my tops are just as bad!! I cannot keep wearing these things to work or to interviews. Does anyone have any jeans, khaki's, tops they could donate?? Im a size 22 maybe a 20 in a couple weeks at this rate after my first fill last week the pounds are sliding right off of me. I am in desperate need of clothing and I simply cannot afford to go out and buy any and the thrift stores in my area are not plus size friendly I have literally gone to 10!! I don't have much money So if you are willing to donate something, anything I would really really appreciate it. I don't know what else to do!!:girl_hug: thank you thank you thank you for anything you could possibly send!!! xox barbie
  2. So last night I ate some thai food left overs. Pad Thai Woonseen to be exact but the noodles are small and clear. Anyway I took a bite and I felt a bit of pressure so i slowed down took another bite when it felt ok. let me tell you it was not OK by any means. I started to slime and could not stop spitting. I was literally tapping on my chest and back like I was burping myself. It hurt so bad I was hoping it would work itself out, but ti didn't finally I started to slime like a darn faucet and next thing i new I could not even make it to the lav I tossed right in my kitchen sink. It was just a little amount. I felt some relief, but still pressure. Oh no here comes the slime again, like a faucet and BLARF another little bit of food and liquid. Now today i don't feel any pain but my stomach is gurgeling like a mofo and I just feel tired. Has this happened to anyone? I mean how do you feel after this happens? I just want to nap right now!! I think maybe I should do a liquid only for the next couple days till my body loves me again! Any words of wisdom for the all knowing lapbandtalk gods? XOXO Barbie

    Pre-op

Ha! OMG the same exact thing happened to me right before my surgery!! Have you been on a liquid pre-op diet? If so what you are expierencing is more than likly KETOSIS (key toe sis). My Primary care had no idea what it was she thought I had mono and freaked me out. I even had white bumps on my tonsils like you would get being sick. But after finding out I had nothing and some research it turns out my body was in major ketosis. You will be fine! I had surgery on June 11th and its the best decision I have ever made in my 32 years!!! Keep us posted! XOXOX Barbie

    Help quit smoking pre op

HI! Well smoking as they have said is bad in regards to anasthesia but it could also slow the healing process. I look at it this way. If you doc knows you smoke and he or she has given you all these crazy things to accomplish right before a life changing surgery they cannot expect you to all of a sudden have superior will power. I mean if we all had that this forum wouldn't be here and we would all be a healthy weight. I think you will be fine. Try to cut back as much as possible. When I quit. I would lieave my smokes in my car so i would have to get my keys go out to the car etc etc. I made rules that were easy to abide by and now 5 weeks and 1 day post op I hit a cig 2 days ago and wanted to barf. That is one bad habit I have for sure kicked. Good luck!! You can do it!! XOXOX Barbie

    Pre-op diet help!!!

OMG this is almost exactly the same post I submitted when i was pre op 6 weeks ago. You will be fine. Don't neat yourself up over it. Drink lots of Water that will help flush your system. I had BURGER KING in a panic a week per op thinking OMG I will never eat a cheese burger again ahaha. Has your doc recomended a certain type of Protein shake? I drink BOOST vanilla High Protein. I mix in a little bit of chocolate syrup 1/4 of a TSP and its just right. Mix in a ice cube or 2 and its even better. I drink 4 a day. You will be fine!!! Cream soup with rice and corn isnt bad at all. But to be honest I was having 1200 plus liquid calories a day in protein shakes a lone plus 1 carnation instant Breakfast a day 2 cups of low sodium broth and jell-o like i needed it to live. I was full it was just my triggers going off. plus I was PMSing which did not help. THINK POSITIVE!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!! I BELIEVE IN YOU!!! XOXOX Barbie
  8. :smile2::sad:I'm having a hard time right now. I was banded on June 1tth and I ahve lost weight but I just don't feel like i am doing this right. I do typically beat myself up or expect too much of myself. I just don't want to be a failure at this. In the department of support I have hardly any positive help or encouragement. There is only a support group meeting in my area once a month and i won't be able to attend the one on July 2nd because I will be out of town. I feel like a bother calling the surgery center lady all the time. Like Oh god it's you again. I don't know what to eat or i feel like what i am eatting is all wrong. I have been working so hard up to this point and i feel like I don't know what to do next. I think i should be losing more and i'm not. i keep a food diary and its very honest. Oy! I don't know. Any suggestions would be very helpful and appreciated!!! XOXO Barbie

rest as much as humanly possible while you are off. I have a desk job but I am up and down a lot. I had surgery on june 11th and went back to work on the 18th full force. The first few days back were rough and I went home and slept and stuff but its doable. You will know if you will be OK to go ya know what I mean. You will do great!! XOX Barbie

Almost 7 months out...no weight loss

Do you really think you "need" the diet pills? The thought of diet pills has always scared me because as soon as you stop taking them all the weight seems to come back. I don't know about you but my dietician helped me big time. She gave me this sorta booklet type deal with all the foods I can eat and their calorie fat and Protein content all broken down into food groups and how much of each group I should have. I sure hope you can find a way to pick back up and use the band liek it should. I am only 4 weeks out and have had some moments where I was like WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING YOU HAD SURGERY TO PETES SAKE!!!! You can do it!! I believe in you!!! Don't give up you have all the right tools its just learning to use them! XOXOX Barbie
  13. You rock!! I love this. I just printed it and laminated a copy for work and one for the fridge and then emailed it to everyone I know!! XOXO barbie

    I threw Up!! *sigh*

productive Burp. its like when a baby has too much formula and they spit up. you get a really bad feeling in your chest possible hiccups and you get that spitty salty thing you get right before you puke and then BLARF you toss your perverbial Cookies. I guess it will happen to all of us at least once.

    There's a difference!

I posted a sorta woe is me need help feeling liek I'm not on the right track post on OH and got 2 VERY snotty replies from who seemed to be moderators or something like that. I was so erked by these 2 I just logged out of my account. I am going to delete it. They really upset me and were of no help. They actually upset me even more! I love this site and have recieved nothing to amazing support and answeres to questions I have had even the silly ones I was over reacting about. I wish there were more places like this forum i could go to in person and feel as much support as I do here!! I'm sure there are wonderful people at OH but I'm just going to go with this site its just BETTER!!! XOXOX Barbie

  18. Hi! I am just wondering... How do you flip or slip? Is this common? If this happens will it be obvious? like what are the symptoms? I'm just curious so many new things to learn about. I was banded on June 11th and I'm putting together info for my own personal reference. Boy oh boy I thought this was going to be a breeze and I had so much info prior but everyday i learn something new. Its sooooo amazing!! xox Barbie

    Girdle

Girl me and SPANX are best friends. I wore them before and I am about 2.5 weeks out and I have some on as i type this. i have them in all cuts and colors. And to be honest even my thin friends wear them. They are so comfy and worth every stinking cent!!! Lane Bryant sells a wide variety and so does Torrid. Your surgery is in 12 days WOW!! Mine was June 11th. I can't believe its done and I ahve to say 2.5 weeks out I feel GREAT!! Good Luck!! XOX Barbie
  22. So my surgery is Wednesday!! Wow it happened so fast. My question is i read and hear so many different stories about pre op diets. Some people have them some dont some can eat some are all liquids. I know its to help reduce the size of the liver but I think ultimately its to prepare you for the couple of weeks after surgery you are on all liquids while you are healing etc. I mean there are people much much larger then I am who have the surgery who have very fatty livers and they still have the surgery which leads me to believe its more of a prep thing for after surgery. Seriously I am a bit worried my liver is not small enough or im still too fatty or something. I have done the liquid diet thing yes i have cheated here and there but nothing major. I had a small chicken breast and some fruit and some egg whites. I have lost some weight for sure about 10-12 pounds I think my scale died last week. My friends don't understand and I really don't have much support in my personal day to day life from anyone. I have been sitting home doing nothing while on this liquid diet. It's like i have the plague or something. I just wish i had more support from the people who I thought were my friends. Keep my in your thoughts. i want this more then anything. Wednesday june 11th I hope to wake up from surgery and be on my way to the losers bench!! XOXOX Barbie :tongue2:

    Moving forward in Michigan

HI! I'm from Metro Detroit. St. Clair Shores to be exact. I just had my band sugery on June 11th at St. John Moross by Dr. Hawasli. It went awesome. I did not have to do a 6 month pre op diet. All insurance companies are different. I have BCBS out of NY and they just ask for history of weight loss attempts like dr. supervised and weight watchers etc. So I just had to get a recommendation from my primary care doc and a psych evaluation and surgery clearence and my insurance approved everything pretty darn fast. It took about a month to get all the required doc appts done and paper work turned in I was approved by insurance on may 20th and had surgery June 11th. I am sure you will get approved. Like I said some insurance companies have different policies. Keep me posted! XOXOX Barbie:thumbup:

    Can I eat it?

ahaha you are silly! Sorta like name that tune. AHAH I can name that food in one bite ahahah!! I'm sticking to my required diet I can tough it out for 5 more days. I do go for a follow up with my surgeon on Monday so he may give me the OK sooner. Thanks for the giggle!!
  25. :cursing:Hi! I was banded on June 11 2008 so 8 days ago!! WOOO!! Do you think it would be OK for me to eat a super small serving of refried Beans? Like half a cup or less. I did have some ramen noodles in my broth yesterday and those seemed to go ok. I chewed them ahaha!! I have been on this liquid diet since May 28th and I need some flavor and something with a different consistencey besides juice BOOST Protein shakes and yopliat light yogurt. Oh and low sodium chicken broth!! I can't imagine a few spoon full of refried bensa would hurt if I eat it slowly and pay attention to what my body is telling me. What do you think?
