  1. They did tell me no Advil post op, but wasn't sure if I could take it down the road. I plan on asking at my appt later this month, but wanted to check before hand.
  2. Will I be able to take Advil again? I have a lot of back problems and that is the only thing that really helps. I know that since I'm only 4 weeks post op I can only take Tylenol, but will I be able to take my friend again?
  3. I'm 33 and would have like to have done this years ago, but I honestly don't think I was mentally prepared.
  4. the scale!! I know that I'm only supposed to weigh myself once a week. Have been told this my shrink, the nutritionist, etc. However, when I'm in my bathroom it calls my name and I think, well, who knows? Maybe I've lost some more! When I was losing a ton after surgery this was fine, but now it is maddening! I think I might put the scale away and just take it out once a week!
  5. I understand that it is swelling from the surgery, but what I was getting at is does how much restriction you feel right after correlate with how much you will have with your first fill. I know some people have no restriction after surgery and some have a lot, hence the question.
  6. I haven't done yoga, but I do do pilates and there were other plus sized people in there. The biggest thing is to find an instructor who can modify in a class situation. Since I had my big belly in the way I couldn't do some of the exercises, but she was really good about giving me alternatives.
  7. My steamed broccoli and carrots went down great! Ahhh...veggies!
  8. Thank you SexySlim! It really feels great to be losing and know that I'm going to keep it off!
  9. I watch BL every week...Tivo is the best! I think Vicky and Brady are doing some sneaky stuff and I hope they get voted off! I think that it is really unrealistic for the real world. A good kick off for weight loss, but there doesn't seem to be any post-show support. I went to a fat farm (weight loss spa) for 2 months a few years ago and did fine for a while, but gained it all back. I did see that Matt has been struggling and I'm sure some other people are too. They also don't really focus much on what they are eating other than to promote certain brands.
  10. Hi banding twin! My first fill is on the 20th. I'll let you know!
  11. I'm wondering if there is a correlation between how much restriction you have post-op and how many fills it takes to get restriction. I had a lot of restriction the first two weeks and wondering if that will mean I will get good restriction from my first fill or if that has nothing to do with it...
  12. They quoted me $15,000, but I got a few bills post op and it is up to about $17,000 now and free fills, doc visits, and nutritionist visits for the first year.
  13. I am just walking right now. Hiked 3 miles with the dogs today. At six weeks I plan on getting back to my routine of working out with my trainer 2x a week and pilates. I miss it! Don't tell my trainer that though! :rolleyes2:
  14. Good to know...I'm going to cook up some veggies with my fish tonight! I miss my veggies!
  15. I have come to a standstill too! It is frustrating, but I'm looking forward to my first fill. I just started regular foods yesterday and am trying really hard to limit my food intake and get enough exercise. Definitely isn't easy!
  16. I am getting ready to start the "real" food stage. I've been researching what you bandsters are eating and I haven't seen many veggies. I realize that protein is a priority, but how to vegetables fit in?
  17. I mix it with garlic hummus...gives some extra flavor.
  18. I'm getting ready to start "real" food and I'm wondering where vegetables fit in. I've read a lot of what you bandsters eat and I don't see a lot of veggies in people's diets. Do you just get your vitamins from pills? Or am I missing something? I know protein is of most importance, just trying to figure out how to do all of this!
  19. I work for my PCP and now that I'm starting to loose she says things like now you are as pretty as you have always been on the inside. SO, guess that means I was hideous before, right?? That goes along with the...you have such a pretty face. I have also heard...OMG...look at the girl, she is so huge, she must weigh like 200lbs. Wow, then I am ginourmous! haha. Most people are just oblivious, but it is still hurtful to hear those things.
  20. I'm on soft foods now, but next week I can eat whatever I want, well in the healthy, high protein realm of food!
  21. I'm halfway through week three of my post-op. I am excited to start solids next week, but also very nervous. Where do I begin?? I'm dying for some pizza, but I want to start with foods that don't have much chance of getting stuck. What are some good foods to start with? The past few days I've noticed that I've been more hungry. I think that the swelling is finally going down because I wasn't really hungry until now. I'm hoping I can stick to the plan until my first fill. I miss the feeling of restriction :smile2:
  22. LMAO!! Maybe she should market it to McDonalds...
  23. HAHA....that cracked me up! Yes, I am easily amused by bathroom humor! I will also share a horrible tale that happened Thursday at work. My coworker who had DS was complaining about stomach trouble after lunch. A few hours later, I walked into the hall and started gagging and nearly passed out! Yes, she had kindly sprayed, but that just made it smell like orange death! It took about half an hour for the cloud to clear!
  24. Congrats! That sux that you have the flu though. I've been washing my hands like crazy to avoid catching anything. I actually have been sleeping better than I did pre-op. You're having trouble? Hope it gets better!
  25. I'm taking my multi and calcium pills every day. Maybe I'll try upping the calories. I'm not watching them purposely, but I'm keeping track of things online so I know what I'm eating. I am really not that hungry, but maybe once I start real food I will be able to get in more calories and feel better. Thanks for the advice!
