How much longer should I wait? I have questions
I didn't have any restriction with my first fill either. My doc recommends that his patients wait 6 weeks between each fill. I would give your doc a call and see when they will let you in for a fill.

Does it get easier to drink WATER?
Ditto what HeatherO said. It definitely gets easier. The first week or two are all about healing and you have a lot of swelling. The liquids will go down a lot easier soon. Good luck!

Metformin side effects and Lap Band
I haven't had any problems with the Metformin either. Good luck!

biggest loser - '09
I'm a little slow in posting, was out last night and am just now watching the show. Joelle is freakin' nuts! Is she posessed or something? I'm glad Bob reamed her a new one even though it didn't seem to have any effect. Looks like Jerry did well at home with his family. Poor Dan, it has got to be hard to be so overweight at his age. I really hope he makes it through the whole show!

Getting off the meds
My doc took me off of my blood pressure meds and Lipitor the day of surgery and I haven't needed them since. I am down to 500mg of Glucophage. I do still need to take my Synthroid and Cymbalta.

Weight loss slow
I'm only three months out, but I was at a standstill until I stepped up my work outs. Are you able to work out?

Am I too tight? Or give it time?
Thank you! I am already feeling a little better. I can get some mushies down and liquids don't gurgle now. It is great having restriction now!

Some people don't get it...
To be honest, I was just venting the night it happened. I'm over it, moved on! I was just responding to people's messages. Thanks for the advice.

Some people don't get it...
I feel that am able to handle most situations now that I am banded. HOWEVER, she specifically asked me what I would like to eat for dinner as she knows that I had surgery. She even sent me a bunch of options prior to the event that I could choose from, all things that I could eat. Then, when I got there it was something totally different. Otherwise, I would not presume to tell someone what I want to eat at their house for dinner. I told her I can eat whatever, but I eat low carb mostly because I am diabetic. Had she not asked specifically, I would have eaten something prior to the event or brought something I could eat. Since I am only 3 months post op I am in a learning process and now I have learned to be prepared in that situation.

No beer? So now what do I drink?
Vodka and Cranberry is what I get at the bar. I get an extra cranberry to make it last longer as I get tipsy faster! I also drink wine, but that is a bit girly I suppose!

Frustrated from Maryland
I too went to St. Agnes, but had my surgery done by Dr. Averbach. He isn't one of those gregarious types of doctors, but I like that he knows what he is doing and is able to see me when I need to go in!

No pre-op diet
Thanks! I just had my second fill and finally have some good restriction. It is a longer process than bypass I think, but it definitely has been worth it! I'm off BP meds, lower blood sugar, and feeling a lot better!

No pre-op diet
I had no pre-op diet other than to not eat 12 hours before surgery. Also, not to gain weight so as to not make the liver any bigger. Good luck!

Wow...this is what it feels like to be restricted!
I thought carbonation was bad...I guess it is OK in moderation? I've also heard pineapple juice has the same effect...

Some people don't get it...
I was able to eat whatever I wanted the first 3 months, but after my second fill last week I'm very limited. I think a lot of it depends on your fill and how restricted you are.

Am I too tight? Or give it time?
Update...I went to see the surgeon today. Since liquids are going down OK and aren't gurgling anymore, he said I had two options. 1) Do liquids until Friday and see how I do, then introduce mushies again. He is there all day Friday if I need to be seen 2) Get the .5CC taken out. I chose to do liquids because he said as I lose weight it will get less tight. He said to just keep an eye on my urine that it doesn't get dark and to make sure I stay hydrated.

Second Fill...owie
Mine doesn't numb first. I may ask for it next time. The first time there was no pain at all, I think he just had trouble finding it this time.

Am I too tight? Or give it time?
The liquids stay down, but I get a LOT of gurgling and what I would call air bubbles coming up and making noise in my throat. I am trying some soup now that things have settled down and it is gurgling a lot too. I'm definitely calling the doc in the morning, I just hope he doesn't take too much out! I NEEDED the restriction. I could eat almost anything i wanted to last week!

Am I too tight? Or give it time?
Thanks...I'm thinking I'll call the doc in the morning and go in to get a little unfilled. There are a few brands of Greek Yogurt. They carry them at my grocery store and Trader Joe's. I get Faje brand plain and add flavoring. It has a lot of protein.

Am I too tight? Or give it time?
This was at 1pm and I threw up two more times...I'm thinking I might need a slight unfill? I do like the restriction, but don't like the throwing up!

Am I too tight? Or give it time?
I got filled on Friday and I've done 48 hours of liquids. It took me a long time to get my protein shake down this morning, but it was ok. Tried introducing some mushies today. Didn't go so well. I had five small bites of greek yogurt. All of the sudden, major slime, chest pain, then threw up the yogurt. Should I give it some time? Or get unfilled a little. Am definitely going to call the surgeon tomorrow, but thought I'd see if this is normal after a fill with good restriction.

Wow...this is what it feels like to be restricted!
I was a little worried about getting my meds down this morning, but so far so good. I'm on liquids today, then will start mushies tomorrow. I'm adding the Unjury to my soups for the extra protein.

Wow...this is what it feels like to be restricted!
I got my second fill yesterday and I think that I actually have some good restriction. I am trying to drink a protein drink and it is making me full after just a few sips! Woohoo!

Driving again?
I was told that as soon as I was off pain meds I could drive.

I'm a failure...PLEASE HELP ME!!!
I'm so sorry to hear your frustration. Before I got my fill yesterday I was feeling the same way, I was starving and I could eat anything I wanted. My nutritionist told me to start with more filling protein and if you do need a snack to eat something with a lot of protein like a South Beach Meal bar. I was eating things more like cottage cheese or cheese and they would slide through more easily. As for the working out, I get that sometimes too where I gain a little weight right when I start working out, then it starts dropping. Are you getting enough fluids? That always helps too. Good luck to you!
