  1. Girl, we're all here rootin' for ya.
  2. I never could tolerate a mask. It would leak or just be bothersome & wake me all the time. Plus I couldn't sleep on my side or belly. With the nose pillows I harldy even feel it at all & can sleep in any position at all with no slipping, even flat on my stomach!! I'm positive its weight related in me, never had it till I got over 200lbs. So I hope will be OK when I lose some. My insurance covered everything, no expense on my part.
  3. I was diagnosed with apnea & got a cpap about 2 yrs ago. I don't remember what setting it's on. It makes a BIG difference. But I get lazy & don't feel like cleaning it every day & so sometimes I don't use it. I don't breathe through my nose normally when I sleep, but I found that I can when I use the nasal pillows. I guess the pressure keeps the nostrils open.

Just got back from the seminar. Dr Jay called in sick! :sick Dr.Cha filled in & there were several nurses that are from the surgery center or Dr Jay's office & they have the band also so it was OK. Very informative. They say there's not really a waiting list or anything, just 1 week of non-fat liquids. So I may have surgery in a little over a week! Providing he's well enough, I suppose. It's getting close & I am so excited! Gotta go buy a blender now! :clap2:
  5. Wow, there's lots of us tall gals here aren't there! I'm only 5'9" and unfortunately a small frame (stupid little size 6 1/2 shoe). I'm shooting for 190 to begin with & maybe ultimately 160-170? So I agree try for 200!! You're already great!
  6. Dear Shelly. Gotta get you a new name!! How about Sweet Shelly? I kinda like that better. Good luck at getting back at 'em! We'll keep your secret & back you up too.

I'm going to seminar tomorrow. Everythings been approved & all tests passed & just waiting to set a date with Dr.Jay. Darn, I hope fills won't be very much at new office. By the way, I haven't really heard about a new office. Have any info on where its at? I've just been to Medical City office. And Thursday I saw 2 little blonde-haired conjoined twin girls in the lobby, wonder if going to try to seperate. Hope they do well whatever the case, the are joined at top of heads, poor little darlings.
  8. wow what an inspiration!! So happy for you.
  9. Mine is united healthcare. looks like I got OK'ed just in time.
  10. Leatha G...what are the circumstances for being banded twice? Did the first erode or something?
  11. Did they pay to install the band?
  12. I'm still trying to decide who I'll tell. Not banded yet but hope to be real soon. I'm kind of hesitant about telling some people like co-workers because they may think I'm just taking the easy way out, plus if they don't see results like they expect I don't want to have to explain. Or if (God forbid) I screw up & don't lose it will be embarassing. I will definately tell close friends & anyone that seems interested in WLS for themselves. Who knows, I may start telling strangers if all goes really well!!
  13. That's another thing that popped in my head, anyone try baby food?
  14. Hey, I here ya gal! I too have a bad habit of continuing to eat even after I'm stuffed. Just can't stop. Hopefully will be better after fill(s). And maybe it gets better after time. I sure appreciate hearing things like this as I'm probably going to have some of those same problems & I want to hear about them now & no surprises after I get my band. Take care.
  15. I'm sure y'all may have discussed this before, but am curious if anyone here has been banded several years. Just curiuos about long-term results. Diane
  16. Thanks for the info from all of y'all. Hope to see Dr Jay soon myself.
  17. Penni, hugs from a newbie. So sorry to hear about all you've gone thru lately and hoping for the best for you. Please continue to post here & let us know how you are doing. We understand the food thing. I often wonder why life has to be so hard sometimes. I wonder, does anyone know why this happens? Too tight, wrong placement, bad luck? And no real specific symptom to watch for? Hang in there hon, we're all with you.
  18. Regular endoscopies? First I have heard of this !!! What does it entail?
  19. I'm interested too! Looking for sizes 22 & 28 for me & my sister. We both live in north Mesquite! Hope we can make it.
  20. Mvpo, Good luck. Hope Cigna wakes up & does what they know is the right thing to do. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Hang in there love, we're all with you.
  21. Much thanks to all of you. I feel better now. However, now I have to do an additional test (echo stress test) before we can set a surgery date. Oh well, not too much longer. Be here 'fore I know it! Thanks again.
  22. Spydr, I too have chosen Dr Jay, no surgery date yet, but my main worry right now (I know this shouldn't be may main concern) is getting thru the clear liquids for a whole week, then liquids after that as well. Any suggestions on how to get thru it?
  23. I agree: "feeling of satiety". I can eat & eat till I am literally sick before I feel full. I hope this stops when I get banded. With me it is kind of wierd, I was exceptionally tall & skinny all through childhood up to about age 30 (well OK I'm still tall!). Was on doctor prescribed diet & protein drinks to gain weight. My knees used to be the thickest part of my legs. LOL they sure did me up good. Now up to BMI of 39, I think. Maybe I just got used to eating huge portions & no one taught me how to stop once I quit being skinny. But I'm ready to learn NOW!!!!
  24. What's an NSV? Any list of abbreviations on the forum?
  25. I wonder why they don't just put the port closer to the skin? I have been told my doc always uses xray but I never thought about it may cost more that way. I'll have to check into that more.
