Here_I_Go_Again

I'm pre-op but I quit cold turkey from my Diet Pepsi addiction over a week ago ? It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I think I went from milk baby bottles to Diet Pepsi lol. I've started taking daily B12 supplements, I'm drinking water and allowing myself to sip on one Bai flavored water throughout the day (most days). Stopping was more mental I think. I never was a big water drinker but I figured I better start and get used to it before I started the liquid pre-op portion.

Finished day 1 of liquids. I survived! Actually it really wasn't that bad. 3 premier shakes and what felt like a fresh lake of water. I'm not crazy, I know this was only day 1 and it's going to get harder as the days progress. I'm most concerned about this weekend, to much time, I need to stay busy. During the week I am typically crazy busy at work and the evenings go by fast. I just need to get through this weekend and I feel/hope that the next week I will be ok. The end of the month is a crazy week at work for me. Saturday 7/1 I figure I'll run errands and pack because I get out of dodge and fly in to San Diego Sunday morning. I figure a 4 hour flight and spending the day in Tijuana will take my mind off of food, I hope lol. I am so glad I stopped my Diet Pepsi addiction over a week ago and I feel fortunate that I had no withdrawals from it. Looking forward to meeting my surgery buddies and ?? for each of us to have easy and fast recoveries! I'm excited with anticipation and a little nervous.....

I haven't had surgery yet, I'm scheduled to have surgery Mon 7/3 Dr. Illan. I was told I could fly in same day before 11 am and I could fly home Thurs after 1 pm. I've decided to fly in Sun and I gave myself an extra day. I will leave Tijuana Thurs but fly home Friday morning. I need my mind at ease, to many flights get delayed these days.

Thoughts and your experiences would be helpful. Thanks.

I've been thinking about this issue as well. I'm have surgery 7/3 and my annual girls beach trip is on 8/10. I haven't told them about the surgery yet. Debated telling last Wednesday at our monthly dinner but chose to wait. Guess the cat will be out of the bag pretty quick. Me and my GF who is an expectant mom will be their DD. ?

I understand, I wish I was there now lol. I have family in Texas as well. I haven't visited in a few years due to work and daughter was doing competition cheer for 5 years, travel was constant, far and expensive. Hoping to get back soon! I would shoot for a holiday, like I mentioned use the weekends as extra days for recovery. Really didn't tell many people at work what I was doing. There are three girls in the office there that know and one of them is my supervisor. She already told me if I need the week off after it wouldn't be a problem, just doesn't sound like it would be necessary. I guess we will see ?

Absolutely I will try and post Monday afterwards. Hoping I'm early on the schedule. I'm a early riser and would love to knock the surgery out and be on the road to recovery. That's almost exactly what I said to mine lol. Well it sound so like we have a few things in common and can definitely be there for one another!

I've researched surgeons as well. I narrowed down to 3 and then personally I loved everything I was reading and was talking about with Dr. illan's patients. I finally just went with my gut reaction and scheduled my appt. I have a desk job, time off isn't an issue but I'm scheduled for 7/3. That's a quiet week at work historically. I intend to go back the following Monday, even if part-time. From everything I've read, as long as I drink water/protein, I may get tired but should be okay. Maybe if you want to do your surgery this year, schedule on a Friday. Fly in that morning and plan around holiday weeks where there would be one less day off plus then you've got 4 extra days with weekends. You could schedule end of June, for July 4th, just before Labor Day or one of the other upcoming holidays - if your company gives you those federal holidays. Just a thought. ? I would be there now if my end of months weren't a nightmare.

My husband was ready and willing to go but like you mentioned, he would also want to be in vacation mode and I'd be telling him to go to the beach or somewhere. This way he can take care of our daughter and the dogs and I can just relax. ?

I'm sorry your dealing with that! Men definitely can be exasperbating. Ugh. I hope he will realize before its to late. Mine did but I had to walk away for a minute and now we are happily married. Although, if he doesn't just remember, he wasn't your forever after story. Regardless you will be happy!

I am happy as well to have someone's who is also going through this! We will feel each other's pain. From everything I've read and talked with others, going alone actually sounds easier in so many ways. It's going to be like a mini vacation. ? I'm so excited and counting down the days. I really wish it was sooner but with my job I couldn't make it work any sooner. I just have a desk job, end of month is always crazy. Plus I thought I could wrap it up in a holiday and take one less day off, not to mention work should be light due to the holiday week. I'm in NC, where are you?

Absolutely! I'll be there by myself as well. I would love to have a surgery buddy! Are you flying in early or day of? I decided to arrive Sunday. I've read several posts about how flights were cancelled or delayed recently. I want to get there and be relaxed, well as much as I can! I'm Lori btw. ?

Yay! What Dr and hospital will you be at?

I'm so excited, my surgery date was set today for 7/3/17 with Dr. Illan! I'm sure some are thinking, seriously around a holiday? Well I personally can't think of a better way to celebrate Independence Day! A new day and a fresh start! I am also hopeful & excited to make some surgery buddies and share our progress. In 7 short weeks; although, in some ways it seems so far away, I will be recovering and on my way to the much smaller me. Woohoo!

It's very possible I may be going alone. Is it realistic? When you check out from the hotel and are going to the hospital to have surgery, did you have the hotel store your luggage? Trying to figure out what I would do with my phone and anything I wanted in the hospital while I recover. Thanks
