    In Praise of Salad

I hear ya! Salads are now my favourite food. I also can tolerate (and enjoy) spicy foods; never could have before!

    Couples WLS?

My wife and I had surgeries together last spring. We shared a hospital room. It would have been 10x more difficult doing this alone.
  3. last week: 201 (sorry, thought I'd posted but now I'm thinking that perhaps I hadn't) this week: 203
  4. Starting/current weight: 203 Goal weight: 190
  5. I had a lot of stomach acid immediately after surgery and found that once I regulated that, "huger" subsided. Stomach acid has leveled out in the weeks/months following surgery so was only a short-term occurance. Now that I'm > 4 months out, I find that I'm getting more snacky then before. I'll feel guilty about having an extra handful of almonds or a piece of cheese... and then suddenly remember how I USED to eat, and feel much better about it!

    Popcorn

I recently had popcorn for the first time since surgery. Was delicious and I tolerated it just fine at the time. BUT.... I sure felt it the next day. Hungover almost - with a headache and dehydrated feeling. Too much salt, maybe? Certainly weird, and will make me think twice before having it again.

    LET'S TACKLE FALL CHALLENGE

    CW: 211 ... BMI < 30%! - no longer obese!
  8. I had similar experiences when I started eating solids after surgery - it improved over time. Four months out and no more gurgling!
  9. Congrats! You'll feel more and more "normal" as time goes on - sounds like you're doing great already.
  10. Yikes! No... no blood shot eyes, but I also haven't thrown up.

    Orange and Grapefruit Juice

I agree with @Introversion... skip the juice... pure sugar!

    NSV shout outs

Here's a few that come to mind: > buying (and wearing!) a one size fits all hat > finding my adam's apple and seeing it move when I talk or swallow > everything fits better - even shoes!

    "LAST SUPPER"

Yes! My wife started her pre-op diet a few days before I did, so she stayed home while I took our kids out for ribs. The weird thing: I don't really even like ribs... but loved that last supper!
  14. My pre-op diet was 3 or 4 premier protein shakes a day. Was definitely hard to adjust to after being used to eating many large meals throughout each day lol - things got much easier after the 4th day. So easy, in fact, that come surgery day I was thinking I could be successful long term by skipping surgery and just spending the rest of my life on a full liquid diet!
