Approval with low bmi and no comorbidities?
After three appeals the last appeal to UT office of employee benefits the BCBSTX decision was overturned! I'm approved. If you're denied but met the criteria appeal appeal appeal it's frustrating but don't give up. My surgeon's staff handled all my appeals because I should have never been denied anyway. On my way to a healthier me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app

Waiting
I have the same insurance and since your BMI is 40 there are no other requirements I bet they'll have your approval today. It won't hurt to call today. Good luck.

Finally Approved
Congratulations. I'm trying to be patient but the thought of not getting approved is consuming all of my thoughts. I'm appealing a denial because my comorbidity, BP is controlled with medication.

Lost in the mail
Call BCBS everyday but they're pretty quick with a response.

Insurance
Not yet I have to see my PCP which was not required however my surgeon's office and insurance say that if he includes more in my medical records about my BP it may help with the appeal. I'm going to ask him to write not a clearance but a recommendation.

Finally Approved!
@sweitzer2148 Did your policy require your co-morbidity to be uncontrolled?

Approval with low bmi and no comorbidities?
I was also denied my BMI is 36 and I have high blood pressure however BCBS feels it's controlled by best practice medical management. I'm appealing now. Did you ever get approved by your insurance?

Finally Approved!
I was denied because BCBS TX says I must have at least one comorbilty that is not controlled by best practice medical management. Apparently being diagnosed and taking medication is considered controlled. I'm appealing.

Finally Approved!
Congratulations! It's so good to hear this right now because I'm going through the same thing with BCBS TX. I'm preparing to begin my second appeal on my own. Do you mind sharing the reason you were denied?

Insurance
I have BCBSTX under the University of Texas plan and I was given the same checklist which was my surgeon's requirement. After I cleared all his requirements BCBS denied approval. Once your surgeon submits your pre-determination paperwork you should know something within two weeks. What criteria is required by your plan to meet eligibility?
