Sip. They told me not to gulp because it can cause gas. Which I've definitely noticed. Anyone know when we stop using the medicine cups and just start sipping a normal sized drink (like protein shakes)?

I'm right there with you. Lots of pain post op, I had surgery on Wednesday. I hope it gets easier for you. I'm doing a bit better today which is giving me some sense of mind.

I haven't had a BM yet, I'm only 2 days out.. but I hear diarrhea is very common because you're on liquids. Liquid in, liquid out.

They are not required but my bariatric consultant highly suggested the bariatric ones because the limits are meant specifically for people who have had bariatric surgery.

You should ask your surgeon and your insurance company. I chose not to use my surgeon's NUT for the same reason. I found one that was covered at 100% by my insurance company. My insurance said I can use anyone in network or even my PCP, so long as they record my weight and "plan" each time. I didn't ask my surgeon, just assumed it was okay because that was an insurance thing in my case, not his prereq.

Do what is best for you, physically and mentally. He will follow; it's his job to support you.

I highly recommend a small pillow to hold against you when you gag or cough or anything. I didn't use much of anything else because I was in pain so I slept and walked and went back to sleep. I brought: charger phone small pillow deoderant pj pants and large shirt 2 dresses (moomoos) toothbrush and tooth paste baby powder that was all i brought and i didnt do anything but brush my teeth

Girl sounds like we're literally twinning here, haha. My pain is still at about a 5/6 when I get up and move but I'm not in tears now when I move so I'm getting better. Have you weighed yourself yet? I've lost ten points already; thinking that's the stomach he removed lol. I hope you're starting to feel better. We're about to go to the store so that we can walk some more. You're in my thoughts!

I just got home. My pain was and is terrible too. Just getting up and down, coughing, etc. I don't have gas pain at all actually just bad pain on my left side (I guess that's where he took it out). It's getting better though because yesterday when I got in and out of bed I was crying. And I have a high pain tolerance. What meds did they have you on? I was on IV Dilaudid there and then now I'm Norco oral. Phenegran for nausea. My nausea has been pretty bad, as expected.

An out of pocket max is different than a deductible. Make sure you call your insurance company so you have a full understanding. I would just hate for you to get a bill and be shocked.

I cannot wait! I cant even sleep. My surgery is at 2, gotta be there at 12.. and it's 5:30 am. I'm just now going to force myself to sleep. I am so so excited and happy!! Good luck to everyone, I pray we all have safe surgeries and speedy recoveries

2 hours is supposed to be average for sleeve. Sometimes less or more, depending on what happens when they get in there.

You will pay your deductible of $750. Then your insurance starts to help pay, that's when your co insurance kicks in. So you're responsible for $750 plus 25% of the total cost up until $7,150. You will not pay more than that towards your health care (your deductible is sometimes put towards your out of pocket, that depends on your plan). With such an expensive surgery, I would be prepared to pay all $7,900 out of pocket (depending on if you've met that elsewhere so far this year). When the hospital calls to tell your your benefits, you can ask for a payment plan and they will usually work with you on a down payment, especially since your insurance is going to cover so much of the surgery.

I would wait until you're as close to 100% confident with your choice as possible. This is a huge life change and you should be completely sure so that you can be successful. There are pros and cons to all so just continue to research as much as possible before making your decision. Good luck!
