Bad acne after VSG
It is from the fat breakdown. I used extra cleansers and it cleared up by 6 weeks post. I still get an occasional pimple but it is much better now.

Second Guessing not doing RNY
If you are unsure maybe you should talk to your doctor again. I know this is a tough decision and it is life changing. I am very happy I had the surgery. Getting off my diabetes medication and having it stay in remission has been the motivation to keep me going. I never want to go back! Are you working with a therapist on your relationship with food? Some people find therapy really helps and is essential.

Clothing shopping constant weight loss
I would look for a Good willor other such second hand store. They often have stuff for a fraction of the cost of new. Some churches also have clothing exchanges.

Thank you ? It is nice, but a little hard to be reminded just how big I let myself get. I won't let that happen again.

Ok, I downloaded a program to help me with the photos. I realized I did not take a 2 month photo?, I did find a photo of myself from last year around this time to compare. I cannot believe how big I was.

Post Surg Brace from Amazon?
I never used one of those. I didn't have much pain at all post-op. The only slight issue I had was gas pain and walking was the best cure for that. Some people might benefit from it though.

Still obese
I think you look great. More importantly how do you feel? I have thought about my goal weight a lot these past few days and I don't really care where I end up. I feel amazing and I am enjoying the journey. I do think that as a society we have kind of gotten to the point where a normal BMI looks skinny to us. Yesterday I had someone tell me I should be careful and not lose too much weight. They thought my face looked to skinny.

I'll have to research this more myself. It seems the fermented tofu is good alternative either way. I haven't eaten tofu before ( at least not on purpose) so I have no idea if I will even like it.

I thought so too! I can see chopping it up with some veggies and making a Chinese type stir fry for sure. I need to go shopping at the Whole Foods store. I wish we has a Trader Joe's near by. I am going to try some tofu also. That web site had some recipes using it that looked delicious.

Low carb Vs. Calorie counting?
I believe this can happen. That is why I have been making sure to increase my calories a little as I go along. At 3 months post-op I think I am doing pretty good hitting 1000. I am going to attempt to be at 1200 by 6 months and then see where I am at. I think I will be at my goal weight by 6 months and then I will have to tackle maintenance. For some reason I thought it would take me longer to reach goal.

Gym or no gym, that is the question
I feel the same way. I think you must be fit to truly be healthy.

Low carb Vs. Calorie counting?
That is awesome!!! I lost 6.4 pounds this week, I almost didn't believe it. I was 180.4 on 8/7 and 174 this morning. I think my body is liking this plant based diet. I am still trying to track, but it is a little more complicated with all of the ingredients in some of the dishes I am making.

That is whole grain brown rice and quinoa, both are complex carbs and it was my first time eating them since surgery. I haven't had any problems eating anything really, my stomach is completely healed. I am still avoiding refined and processed carbs, but after reading the book Proteinaholic by Dr. Garth Davis, I have decided to eat a whole foods plant based diet.

May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!
I found this website with some good vegan recipes. http://www.thebuddhistchef.com/recipe/seitan/ I am going to try and make this. This looks like it would be good in a sandwich or a stir fry. My hubby is joining me on the whole foods plant based diet!! I got him to watch Forks over Knifes last night and he is on board. I weighed in at 174 this morning. I think my body likes this food! I have dropped 7 pounds this week

Gym or no gym, that is the question
I started walking 4 days after my surgery 2-3 miles a day. I was on my elliptical at 2 weeks post-op and started running 3 days a week at 5 weeks post-op. I will be 3 months post-op on Aug 15th and I am running 4-5 days a week 2-3 miles each time. I think stalls will happen either way so I decided it would be a good idea to develop good habits right away. I think exercise is good for our mental health as well as physical well being. Running has now become something I look forward to. I eat about 950-1000 calories a day now.

Anyone else uncomfortable with weight comments?
The funny thing is the person who said this to me was obese! Some people just have no filter. I ignore these type of people now. Sorry you have to deal with this from a family member.
