  1. Me too Eileen. As a newbie it's hard to tell what is normal and what isn't, etc.
  2. Hi Jillia, I have suffered with depression all of my life, starting in my young adolescence. It's actually getting worse and worse. I am not on any anti-depressants because I can't find one that I can tolerate. I want to keep searching though, and am afraid to with the lap band, because sometimes vomiting can happen.
  3. I didn't know you could slip by eating too quickly or too much. I thought slips occured from vomiting or other trauma to the stomach.
  4. Just to update you, the doc thinks I just pulled at it and should take it easy for a few days. I actually have a reffering pain on my right side too, in my ribs.
  5. I use Splenda and I will NEVER buy anything with Nutrasweet (aspartame) in it. In was a relief when Splenda came along. Nutrasweet gives me headaches and I have heard too many REAL stories like the one Poodles mentioned to ever think it is safe even in small amounts. I read Nutrasweet is partly owned by one of the FDA officials and that is how it was able to come on the market here. Bastards.
  6. That's horrible! I would have panicked for sure. I have always been put under for mine. I would demand NOT to have it done like that again, or go to someone who puts you under.
  7. So what is the verdict? An underhanded attempt by Nutrasweet or is it really going away?
  8. Oh I do hope you are right Alexra! I'm waiting on a call back from Dr. Bertha now. I wasn't even thinking when I moved the kitty litter. Gah!! Thanks for the congrats. And YOU, by the way, you look incredible in your signature picture.
  9. They told me 2 weeks! I feel so stupid!! I better call. What happens if you pop a stitch? What if I have to have surgery again??! Oh my god. STupid stupid stupid.
  10. Hi All, Yesterday I picked up a 23 lbs thing of kitty litter and last night and today my port area is bothering me. Especailly during the night. I had to get up and take some tylenol. I was told by the nurse releasing me at the hospital not to lift more than 20 lbs for 2 weeks, which I didn't. I was banded on March 13th. Now I'm worried I may have done something to it. I'm also supposed to massage my mom tonight (I am a certified therapist) and wondering if I should even do that.
  11. Janet, about the shoulder pain, for me , it's my stomach (gastritis) Because I've been fine all day and because I'm feeling so tired, I decided to have the first cup of coffee in a month.Coffee really triggers stomach problems for me. Well, 15 minutes later, the left shoulder pain started.
  12. Thanks all. :-) wyldvelia, it did make me lose a lot, and I even had my period! I lost 17 lbs!!!!
  13. Glad he found out what was going on and your feeling better.
  14. I felt the same way, so I totally understand. Three things for me: I needed more fluids, I needed to up my calories (used egg drop soup and I immediately felt better) and also realizing the anesthesia really knocks me for a loop and wwas still having an effect. I needed two weeks before I thought of doing anything really, even making dinner for my boyfriend. Perhaps you can call in some sick days?
  15. I'm so sorry. He was still so young, and a handsome boy too! They give us so much love, and become an important and loved part of the family. It's very hard on us that they live shorter lives. A great quote on this that comforts me is: "We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan." --Irving Townsend, from The Once Again Prince
  16. Will they cover fills and things that arise? I'll be getting Aetna soon.
  17. Here is a question...even though they are supposed to take what the insurance paid them, will they be sneaky and try to collect more from him?? ALso, in what states is it against the law to do this?
  18. Karen, please keep us updated on your results and your husbands.
  19. Thankee Ladies! :-D I'm thrilled, you have no idea! I was so worried. This board is the best, it really pulled me through.
  20. I was banded March 13th and have only been on mushies for 3 days. I had some really bad pain too, you can check my thread here in the complications forum. There is a lot of good advice in there. Taking a PRESCRIPTION strength acid reducer really helped. But I was very sore and tight in there and although I also felt weak from liquids eating a pork chop woukld have sent me to the floor. It's so dense, even on solids it's tough and dense. So I think eating a pork chop was not the best choice. When I started on mushies my stomach was not ready for them, even though I was 3 weeks out. So I went back to soft , full liquids for a few days. Please listen to your band/stomach. She is an unforgiving mistress and our appetite, what got us in trouble in the first place, is not in control anymore, the band is, at least right after surgery it is.
  21. WHOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! I'm feeling GREAT!!! No more pain, I'm eating mushies fine, drinking Water fine!! I turned this corner yesterday after slowing coming up the past 5 days from a really hard time as you know. The acid reducers and all the advice given in here in regards to how and what to eat and drink is what did it. I AM SO HAPPY.:clap2: The only downside is now 'm starting to get hungry!! How did that happen so quick??
  22. You poor thing!! I think this will be easier than the first surgery due to the amount of time you need to be under, etc. But I know you still healing and to have to go under again stinks. Our thoughts are with you and I pray that God sends you the monies you need in some good way!
  23. Hi Lianna! I had a good day yesterday. Acid was less. I was able to eat some refried Beans (1/2 cup) and 1/2 c mashed potato for dinner. I find as long as I drink super slow and no Water, but milk, etc it's getting better. I'm not getting enough liquids in doing this, so that is a concern. Things are looking up! :-) Thank you for checking in on me. *hugs*
