PCOS....Does the surgery really help?
well....in a very simplistic answer....i am not very restricticted right now but I am still unable to eat bread. it forms a "doughball" that wont go down AT ALL! it simply wont go down, so i dont eat it. same with donuts, pastries, etc... the good thing about the band is that you TRULY get full on very small amounts, and if you make those the main entree (chicken, beef, etc.) and some veggies you have no ROOM for anything else. it is almost a no brainer since it "cuts" the hungries.

Magic Bullet?
I love love love my Magic Bullet! You can get one at Walmart for about $45 I think. I pureed everything in it, still use it for after fills, and make protein drinks in it. (and salsa) The good thing is that you can drink right out of the "cup" you mix things in and dont have anything else to wash. I think it is well worth the money. The wand type doesnt fit into my glasses and is a mess to clean, but this just my 2 cents!

Did you lose weight before your first fill?
I think I lost around 6-8 lbs before my first fill. Most of that in the 2 weeks on liquids/full liquids.

PCOS....Does the surgery really help?
I am not sure if there would be much difference between the 2 surgeries as far as their effect on PCOS. It is not the surgery that will minimalize the effects of PCOS, as much as how the actual weight loss (by ANY means) improves the symptoms of it. I have lost pretty slowly (not sure if is due to the PCOS or Insulin Resistance....or either) but have lost at a steady rate.....so I feel that for me the PCOS is not negating the benefits of being banded. I think you need to research both surgeries and see which one you would be more comfortable considering. Your doctor should be able to help you gather some good information sources. You dont say how much you have to lose, which could also be an influence on your decision and/or approval.

I'm a little freaked
My first thought when you mentioned the red ring was ringworm. Now that you mention a new puppy and that you have several more I would almost bank on it being ringworm. ANY general MD should be able to help you get a quick diagnosis and some cream for it.....or even to rule that out. Hope you are over it soon!

Mexico or States
I had my surgery in Monterrey with Dr. Sanchez. I have nothing but glowing reports over the entire process. I had aftercare arranged before I even considered going to Mexico, Dr. Sanchez referred me to a doctor about 40 minutes away. I have no complaints.

Anyone close to goal
I never worry about the size of my boobs. They are big, always have been, and always will be. If I didnt have them I think I would seriously miss them, if I never had them it would be a moot point. If they disappear I want surgery to put them back, lol. Dont worry about it!

Looking foe support.
Fat free Cottage cheese is a good one when you get to mushies. I also got hooked on thinned down refried beans with some salsa and ff sour cream on top! You might want to add some kind of protein shake to your intake if you are not already having them, until you get firmly back on solids (which will be weeks) it IS hard to get in enough protein with some kind of protein supplement while on liquids and mushies.

190 lbs It has been slow going the past few weeks. I am constantly hungry and know I am in need of a tiny fill. I am going to schedule one as soon as I am out for summer. I hate the end of the school year, it so hectic and stressful, the kids just suck the energy right out of me. I have gotten into a bad habit....everyday at lunch I ask for my tea in a to-go cup. I never drink with meals but finally realized that I had starting drinking my tea as we got in the car to head back to school. Very counterproductive for keeping the hunger at bay. Time to get this weight loss back on track!

Permanent Makeup
I meant to add... I have 3 friends who have the eyeliner done. It actually softens and fades slightly after a few years and looks EVEN BETTER! That is why I am dying to have the eyeliner done. 2 of them have a soft black/charcoal gray color and the other has a dark grey/navy blueish color that is very very pretty on her eyes. I dont know anyone that has the lips done so I cant help any there. If I get brave this summer I am posting pics at 50 lbs down and will revive this thread and post a pic of my eyebrows, lol!

Permanent Makeup
I have my eyebrows done. They were never very dark or very thick to begin with and bleach out in the summer to the point of invisibility. I was using a blond pencil or powder for years to fill them in some and finally got tired of waking up and not having eyebrows, lol! I was in the pool one day and putting on sunscreen and my neice said "you just wiped off one of your eyebrows!". I had thought about tatooing for years and that did it for me. It is relatively common where I live. I am on the Texas/Mexico border and had them done in Mexico at a place that several people recommended. It cost $60, which is extremely inexpensive, and they use sterile disposable needles! They were pretty dark for a few months and then settled in to a perfect light brown color. I absolutely love them. I think they are even better than before tatooing...she calibrated them so that they are perfectly even, perfect arches, perfectly spaced. They look totally natural because my "real" eyebrows are still there, just about the same as when I was filling them in with pencil or powder. I am dying to have the eyeliner done. My last day of school is June 2 and I plan on having my eyeliner done first thing this summer break!

If you're going to Mexico for a lapband read this!
"Since, I have found a great Doc. in my area that will do my fills, expensive though because I had my surgery in Mexico. I did find out that he will do surgeries under 30 BMI and get ready for this, is cheaper than Mexico. My new Doc. is telling me how I have to change this and that and exercise etc.......I told him I can do this and lose weight without the band!! He told me he would have never put a band in me and would have done another surgery." You DO state that your new doctor will do surgeries on people with a BMI under 30 and that he would have done "another surgery" on you than lapband. I am curious who this AMERICAN doctor is? He doesnt seem any more credible than the Mexico doctors you are warning us about.
