salads?
I have been able to eat salads the entire time. I prefer to keep looser restriction, but even the times post-fill that I have been fairly restricted I have never had a problem with salad. I like to dump a small can of tuna on it to make it a meal. I dont do chicken breast well all the time, and thigh meat just doesnt seem right for a salad! Just make sure you wait until you are firmly on solids before you have yours, lol!!!

Help......just banded, need advise
I found that I couldnt drink anything cold for the first few weeks. (and to this day cold drinks restrict my band and warm ones open it up) Warm broth or tea would gurgle right through but my protein drinks or iced crystal light seemed to go down very very slowly, and a cold protein drink was actually painful at times. Are you able to drink warm liquids easier? If so try having your protein drink at room temperature....it sound odd, but whatever works. If warm or cold make no difference to you then disregard the above advice, lol!

New Years Resolutions
My resolutions involve coming full circle and getting my body as healthy as possible! 1. Reach my goal weight! 2. Stop smoking 3. Faithfully exercise at least 4 times a week

Goal Weight
My doctor set my goal weight at 135, which is about right....even though I weighed less than that in my teens and early twenties. I personally set it at 145 because that is the heaviest weight I will accept, and it puts me within a normal BMI. I dont remember looking or feeling "fat" until I got above 150, so I take that into account also. I guess my goal is a combination of doctor recommendation, BMI, and knowing where I will look and feel good!

Diet Coke
I dont have any idea what is allowed on the pre-op liquid diet! Didnt your surgeon or nut give you some guidelines? I wish I could help, but I didnt have to do a preop. Good luck on your upcoming surgery!

Weight Loss Shake
I dont know anything about any of those protein drinks either! I like the Zerocarb Isopure because for 1 scoop it has 105 calories, 0 sugar, 0 carbs, and 25 g of protein. It is the best one I have found. There is one I get at WalMart called Body Fortress 100% Premium Whey Protein and one scoop has 110 calories, 1 g sugar, 2g carbs and 23g protein. I usually drink one in the morning since I am not a breakfast eater. I just like those 2 because they have all the protein without the added sugar and carbs.

'Clothes too big' my NSV Pics
Good grief! I am surprised those pants even stayed up for the picture! You keep working that band!

Update
I certainly hope you are back to 100% by surgery day! I was in some pain the first 3 days, but all I ever took was some liquid Tylenol for it... I never took any of the prescription stuff. BTW, your band date is my birthday! I will be thinking about you!

Advice from Dr. C needed
Try eating your protein. The protein drinks are great to supplement with, but wont give the full feeling like eating real solid foods. That may part of the hunger issue.

I feel my port sticking out
Oh, I definitely remember feeling it when trying to sleep. It use to drive me crazy trying to sleep on my stomach or even laying on my side. That goes away too. OR, it did for me. I literally never feel my port anymore unless I have my hand pressing looking for it, lol. It is just under the surface skin, but not visible or anything.

I feel my port sticking out
I used to be very aware of my port. It still ached now and then for the first 3-4 months. Bumping it hurt. Now I only notice it if I am feeling for it. Mine does not "stick out" or anything weird. I can feel it if I am trying to to, otherwise I forget it is there.

Why no make up???
I had my toenails painted but my nails were French manicure. That wasnt an issue. The no jewelry was an absolute must. I had to remove toe rings even. All my rings, even wedding ring, came off easily except for my thumb band. I asked if I could just leave it on and they brought me some K-Y lube and made me take it off, lol.

Race photos from my recent 10km event!
Wow Jacqui, that is totally cool!!!! You must have a great feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction for doing that! I am super proud for you!!!!

Slippage prognosis
I havent had a slippage, but I would think that once they got your band back in proper position and at an adequate fill that you would once again have all the benefits of the band and start losing again. I hope you have an easy recovery after your revision! At least this time you know what to expect and will be well prepared!

No liquids required! Cool!
I had no pre-op diet. Just nothing after midnight the night before. I think if a doctor was concerned that you may have what they call "fatty liver" they may recommend a low-carb diet to shrink the liver. I guess some doctors just have ALL do it, while some have NONE do it. Seems like that is one of those things that varies by surgeon.

Protein puddings for all you that can't eat breakfast folks.
I think I may try these!

Lower BMI Bandsters!
I started with a BMI of 39 at surgery, I am now at 29 just over a year later. I am no longer Obese!!! It seems like I have lost rather slowly, but there are many things factored in to that. I lost pretty steady until I hit 180 (50 lbs lost) and it has been slow slow going since then. I am still very pleased to be where I am at weight wise compared to where I was last Christmas!

Surgery 12/20/06! Does anyone have advice on the liquid multivitamin?
I take the Centrum chewables or the Viactiv chews. Both of them are also great and are an adult formula.

Nsv!!!
Woohoo!!! It will soon be time to get new smaller clothes! How fun!

thoughts - should i get a fill ?
22 lbs last month!!!!!!! No fill for you woman! You are doing fantastic right where you are at! I dont think your doctor would even consider a fill with that weight loss, "if it aint broke, dont fix it"!

Is this for me ???
I feel your pain. I felt like I tried everything also and the weight just kept creeping up. I would diet with friends and be more strict with the calories and more intense with the exercise and still lose less than they did. I would diet for literally 5 months to lose 20 lbs and my diet buddies would lose 2 and 3 times that. Being banded the weight has come off slow for me, but has come OFF nonetheless. I think you need to keep researching your options and see what seems right for you. I wish you the best.

Dec 10
170 lbs I feel like I have been stuck at 172-169 for months and months. I have been losing slow to nothing in reality. Blah Blah Blah...I know what needs to be tweaked. Too comfortable and complacent lately. *I am such a moron......I just noticed that people leave comments and I want to say thanks!

Is this for me ???
Well Havin, there are things that determine if you are candidate for lapband. What is your height and weight? Most doctors want a BMI of 40, or 35 with co-morbidities like diabetes. It is a major decision to make, and this researching part is the first step. I hope you find whatever solution works for you.
