  1. It’s been 3 weeks since my ESG procedure. I was concerned about the 4th of July but I got Covid. So, I’ve been isolated upstairs 🥺. But all is good. Felt bad for about 2 days, now getting better Everything is going well my procedure. No issues getting water, tea or coffee in. I’m typically over 120oz a day. Protein is primarily from supplements iso pure and Core / Fairlife. I’m sure missing the standard Fairlife Protein shakes. The 30gr of protein per bottle. I can’t find any at Sam’s or Costco. I’m now ordering on Amazon at nearly twice the cost. Although a lot cheaper compared to eating out lol. Anyone else having a difficult time finding it? Let me know of any locations. My weight loss has been going well. Pre Surgery weight 336 Surgery weight 331 Current Weight 307 My goal weight is 270-275. Same as my college football weight. I’m not hungry but when I smell food, I would love to grab a bite. This week I start soft foods. I’m sure my weight loss will stall a bite as I’m sure most was still water. Good luck everyone If you’re looking into ESG, this is still a relatively new procedure. So far, I would fully recommend it. The procedure was quick. I left my hotel at 6am and was back in my hotel room by 930am. No cutting! Only feeling gas pains. Some nausea but not bad. The first few days I was hungry. Since I was tolerating everything, the doctor increased my protein to 120g. Mind you, I’m 6’7 at the time 330. Procedure was on Wednesday, flew home Friday and flying for work on Sunday.
  2. It’s been 14 days. No issues getting water or protein. I’m actually not as hungry as the first few days but when I smell food I was certainly like a bite Only 1 issue with nausea. I had some green tea with no sugar from Starbucks. I drank about half, and that came up. TMI Weight loss has been great but I’m sure still primarily water but still 18 lbs I have started heavy weights and that went well but tired quick. I’ll stick with one muscle group per day. Good luck everyone.

    Arizona ESG questions

Hi I am 10 weeks out of ESG. I used and highly recommend Dr McGowan out of Raleigh NC. I met virtually with him and his team plus reviewed all his YouTube videos. My starting weight 336, surgery weight 331, current weight 298. I’m also 6’6 The majority came off the first 7 weeks. It’s been slow since I introduced solid foods. You have to be very conscious, or at least I do, as I can eat anything I did before but less. My pre op diet was clear liquids the day before. From the time I left my hotel to procedure, I was back in 3 hours. I never had any issues with getting liquids.

    Week 7

I was fortunate, as 64 oz of water was never an issue. I do find a good water bottle. Now I’m adding crystal light packs

    Week 7

Hi all, Week 7 and still making progress albeit slow. I have no issues with any food which is certainly a pro and con. Pro- I can have basically anything. Major Con- I can have basically anything. If you stick with your diet, and eat protein first, you will fill up fast. My biggest struggle is my water intake. My goal is 128 oz but even hitting 60 - 80 has been difficult these last few weeks. Overall still extremely thrilled about the results and procedure. If anyone was on the fence about ESG, I recommend you do your research. Of course, it’s still a relatively new procedure but it has a lot of positives. 1) very quick recovery time, 2) extremely quick procedure, 3) minimal nausea and pain. As for cost, well that’s may be a problem for several people. It’s not covered under insurance but it’s somewhat reasonable priced compared to some procedures. I believe my cost was $9900 plus travel. Pre Surgery Weight = 336 Surgery weight = 330 Current Weight = 301 Goal Weight = 275-280 Yes, those numbers look high but I’m a pretty big guy. I’m slightly over 6’6”. Good luck everyone
  6. Things are still going good. My diet is open to all foods. The biggest challenge this week was my water. I need to limit my water 30 minutes before and after I eat. Very challenging. It has impacted my overall water intake. My goal is 120oz per day. I have very few food limitations at this time but still limit my red meat intake. I’ve had a few once’s of steak but that’s about it. I’ve been eating a lot of seafood. Pre Surgery Weight = 336 Surgery weight = 330 Current Weight 304.2 The weight loss has certainly slowed up but I still haven’t been completely stalled. My goal this week is to increase my water intake. Good luck everyone. If you’re on the fence about different procedures, I recommend you look at ESG. IMO a very easy procedure.

    Day 28

Hi all, For me these posts help keep me in check on a few things. Everything is going well and my nutritionist has released me to more foods. On Monday I added baked and grilled fish, soft veggies, fruit etc. He still doesn’t want me to set my macros until next month but once me to get 100-120 gr of protein, and up my carbs a bit. So, I’ve added berries and banana. My weight loss has slowed down, but with adding foods and so much water loss I’m not surprised. Plus of course, you hear about the three week stall. With the added food, I certainly have more energy. Now, I need to add cardio. The weights have been going well and I’m getting stronger Pre Surgery Weight: 336 Surgery Weight: 330 4 week Weight: 305.6. Goal weight: 275 Note: I was having some light headed issues, especially when getting up. It was my blood pressure dropping. I’m now down to 1/2 a pill per day. I am hoping with more weight loss I’ll be off completely. Good luck everyone.

    ESG post diet

Hi. I had my ESG on June 15th. I agree with you, it doesn’t make sense and mine was for 21 days. At day 15th, I was doing great and added sugar free pudding, Greek yogurt and hummus. No issues. I’m now a day past week 4. My weight loss has slowed tremendously, but everyone or majority slow down or have a 2 to 3 week stall. But it’s still about the calorie deficit. I’ve started with weights but I know I need more cardio. With the liquid diet I was too exhausted but now I’ve added other soft foods and energy is coming back. Unlike sleeve or bypass, my doctor has released me to do any workouts. We don’t have the staples or stomach cuts.

    Day 21 ESG

Dr Christopher McGowan. I researched others but he seemed to have the most experience. It’s in the Raleigh area

    Day 14 ESG

Hi. Yes, my doctor approved full workouts. It’s crazy the difference between all the doctors, including the post diet.
  13. Hey everyone- im on day 4 post op. Everything went well, and had minor gas pains. No heart burn but my doctor has me on omeprazole twice a day for a month I’m also taking sucralfate 4 times per day. Anyone else taking this? If so, for how long? The next 17 days of full liquids will be difficult. Not getting them in. I have no problem drinking 64 oz plus some protein shakes. But I feel pretty hungry. My doctor said it may diminish, did anyone else experience this?

    Day 4 ESG Post Op

I had my one week consult. Everything is going well. No problem working out but they want me to make sure I listen to my body. I’m moving my liquids to 100oz and protein to 100gr. I know it all water weight but down 13 lbs.

    Day 4 ESG Post Op

When I got home, I went to an infusion spa for another IV. I had some additional zofran and vitamins added. Not sure if it helped much but the exhaustion did diminish
  16. Hi Tela - Tomorrow will be one week for me post ESG. I had very little complications, nausea gone within 48 hours and back working already . Per my doctor, I don’t have any restrictions but I’m pretty tired. He thought it would take 2 or 3 weeks, but more about being tired. The restrictions are much less because there is not cutting. I have zero problems with getting enough water. I do mix in vitamin water zero, and crystal light lemonade. I have no problem with getting protein. The majority through fairlife protein shakes but I’ve started to do some unflavored isopure. Without solid foods, I think it will be hard to get much more calories. But I feel like I could eat solid foods but will follow the guideline Lets keep in touch. Good luck. Oh, i have a consult tomorrow. I’m going to be asking a similar question.
  17. I had my surgery in Dallas on Feb 10 as an outpatient. If you're in the DFW area, check out Dr McCarty. His mini sleeve procedure is great. It's a much easier procedure. As of this morning, I'm down 51lbs SW 372 GW 260 CW 326

    Anyone from Texas?

I'm from DFW. Dr McCarty did a mini sleeve on Feb 10. I'm down 51lbs. His staff is awesome, and I highly recommend you check him out. His procedure is out patient, and no restrictions afterwards. SW 372 GW 260 CW 326
  19. Tomorrow will be 2 months post-op. In the beginning, typically gas pain but outside of this nothing major. I realize the journey has just started, but I'm so happy I had the procedure. SW 372 GW 260

    Anyone get lightheaded?

I had the same issue but around the 3rd week. I was down 25lbs, and my BP dropped quickly. With my medication, my BP was typically around 132/88. When went to have it checked, it was 107/71. My doctor adjusted my prescription, and things have been fine. I'm hoping to get off the medication completely SW 372 GW 260

    Anyone 370 lbs or more?

Sleeved on Feb 10, 2017 weighing 372. Today I weigh 338. I didn't have a preop diet, but I highly recommend it. I had a lot of head hunger, but pretty much have solved it. SW 372 GW 260

    Business Traveling & Food Choices

Oh yeah. I drink a lot of muscle milk, because I can find in most major c-stores. Just in case, I pack some powder protein, and blender bottle SW 372 GW 260

    Business Traveling & Food Choices

I'm not quite one month, but eating solid foods. Like you, I travel at least 50% of my time. Of course, fast food is not really an option. I'm eating a bunch of fish. So far, my preference is Sea Bass or Salmon. Sides are really a hit or miss. Typically the fish portion is enough SW 372 GW 260
  24. Just had my EGD this morning. So quick and easy. Now my sleeve is scheduled for Feb 10, hope that goes just as well. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App
