  1. k9nana, I had a hiatal hernia and my Dr decided to go forward with my gastric Sleeve and also repaired my hernia. I had my surgery 12/12/16. Doing great, lost 32lbs so far. The way they repair the hernia is to use the part of the stomach they remove to repair it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  10. Premier Protein shakes are good. Also my Dr told me to not drink 30 minutes before and wait at least 30 minutes before drinking after. Also nutritionist told me more important to get Water in than protein the first couple of weeks to prevent dehydration. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I agree. I was kept in the hospital for 2 days. Had and X-ray done 24 hours after surgery to check for leaks in my stomach. It was hard to get fluids down at the beginning. Important to get fluids in over Protein. It got better by second week. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. My nutritionist told me that I would have plateaus where I wouldn't loss weight for few days or weeks that it was normal especially for women. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. I had a long history of acid reflux and on medication for many years. I had to have a upper GI and swallow test before my Dr would do my GS. I also had a hiatal hernia. My Dr decided to go ahead with the surgery since taking some of the stomach to fix hernia which is how hernia is fixed. Have not had reflux since. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Does anyone regret surgery

I had my surgery on 12/12/16. The first week was rough. On Christmas Day at my daughter's house for dinner I ate a couple bites of ham and knew I could'nt tolerant so I had brought egg drop Soup which has been one of my favorite things. I also brought sugar free pudding to eat when everyone was having dessert. It's now been almost a month since surgery and I able to eat scrambled eggs with cheese, tuna with light mayo. 3-4 ounces of roasted chicken, white Parmesan fish and of course I'm still eating the egg drop soup, delicious! I loss 14 pounds before surgery and 13 pounds after surgery. Also taking my Multivitamins, B12, Calcium with Vitamin D and Biotin. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Have you tried Premier shakes? They have 30gms of Protein and are really good. You can get them at Walmart or Cosco. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. Yes I did have gas pain that was high up in my shoulders. That may sound impossible but that's what happens. They gave me pain medication and had me up walking the night of my surgery. Walking is what helps bring the gas down so you can pass it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. Like the comment about infant stomach that's exactly what I compare my new self to. I am training myself to eat correctly and right amounts. Your new stomach can hold only about 2-4 ounces of food each meal. No drinking anything at least 30 minutes before or 30 minutes after. You will fill up with liquid and not get the Protein you need. My diet was no caffeine, alcohol, sugar, carbs. Just Water and protein. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Slow recovery?

I had my VGS on 12/12. It took me 2 1/2 weeks before I was able to get all my fluids and Protein in. Try to keep a record of everything that goes in your mouth. My weight loss team gave me a book that had a flow sheet that I could write down everything. Also walking is good. I saw my Dr at 23 days post-op and she wants me to do Yoga or Strength training or riding a bike. Something to tone and build muscle and increase endorphins. She says no limitations now. How much to eat?

I'm 3.3 weeks out from my surgery and have lost 13 pounds. I had a difficult time getting all my liquid and Protein in the first 2 weeks but now try to get 60 ounces of liquid and 60 grams of protein. The protein helps you loose the weight and the liquids keep you from getting dehydrated. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
