Insurance question
We have medi-cal here in California which is the same as medicaid in your state. When i had my insurance meeting some in the room had medi-cal and medicare and were told they would have to cash pay or it can take 2-3 years dieting to get the surgery approved. I think that is absolutely ridiculous!! I hope you hear better news from the surgeon when you connect with them!!! Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

Going out shopping
You will find you need to rest a lot the next couple of weeks! Listen to your body and rest and before you know it you will wake up one day feeling so good. I did not believe it as I felt so tired all the time and this week I woke up with energy and ready to go....the fog had lifted! I was sleeved on Dec 9th 2016. I ordered all my groceries and household items from Amazon Prime and had them delivered in 2 hours! Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

ADD Medication
My WLS team says you will not be able to take time released or long acting at all with the bypass but with sleeve some much needed time released meds will still be approved. Since you need that you should research which surgery would be best! Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

Problems 3 weeks out! Forever?
I am 3 weeks post op sleeve and also going through a lot of what you are going through! I can drink okay but I am drinking Gatorade now to get some electrolytes in and that has made me feel so much better...given me more energy because I am unable to eat very much! Once you are able to start drinking good that gritty feeling will go away. Everything I try and eat tastes bad....I have zero hunger or desire for food. I have some high protein strawberry banana Jello I just made so trying to get through that now as the protein shakes do not agree with me just yet! I sleep so much and know I need to get some fuel!! I wish you all the best and feel free to reach out any time was we are on the same journey!! Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

Pre liquid stage
My surgeon does 2 days for bypass and one day liquid diet for sleeve. I am also on the lower end of BMI but I think that is for everyone he sees. I was sleeved 12/09 and did 2 days liquid as I went in for bypass but he said I did not have enough room to do bypass so he sleeved me. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

Complications
You need to call your surgeon. Did they do a scan and check that you do not have any leaks or twists etc? You should never have been sent home if you could not keep anything down! That makes me furious!!! I wish you a speedy recovery but please call and get assistance! Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

Sips. Sips. Sips.
You will know friend!!! Of you over fill your pouch you will feel a bit miserable. But please eat. Just small bites and eat it over a 30 min span without drinking during that time. If you feel a bit of discomfort what I do is stand up....that lets everything slowly go down. Take your time but make sure you eat what you can manage and take sips every 15 min. I wish you much success!! Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

Complications
I was sleeved on Dec 9th. I could not stop vomiting everything they gave me. Three days later they diagnosed me with a twisted stomach. Have they done a barium scan on you yet to check?! I had 2 more surgeries to correct and was in the hospital 6 days. Once they put a stent in I never vomited again! Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

Week three puréed foods - worrying about portions
You are fine! It takes a long time of bad eating habits to stretch your pouch and you sound like you are doing just fine! Remember if you had the sleeve it is the size of a small banana and can hold what you ate...I am 3 weeks out and struggling with no hunger and getting food in so I congratulate you!! If you over eat believe me your pouch will be telling you! Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

My Sleeve Journey (sleeved 12/28)
Recovery is slow I have to say. But first week I was unable to even keep Water down so I think I am a bit behind. They put a stent in my stomach to untwist it and I have surgery Jan 10th to remove it! I have lost 41 lbs since the surgery. I can tolerate all liquids but have zero hunger now so food is tough to get down. I can tolerate yogurt, applesauce, pudding but not much beyond that yet! How are you doing? If you private message me I would love to share my contact details if you want a friend in the area that is going through the same thing! My name is Brandee but can not figure out how to add my picture! Lol Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App
