  1. Hi, I am so hit a wall and to look or think about meat, pasta, or fried food made me sick. All the things I use to eat now is yucky to me and so much wasted food as well. But there hope! I had to learn a new way. I had a good friend who is a health nut who I asked help me to eat differently. Teach me about seeds, beans, lintels, soups, salads. Vege smotties, bone broth is amazing for protein. My stomach is happier when I don't eat any heavy foods and I can eat about 15 to 20 bits of light food as to 3 to 4 bits with heavy foods. Also went to YouTube for cooking recipes. It taken some time to learn but now I feel more in control from all the direct taste I am learning to like and adjusting some recipes to my liking. I always carry food with of protein powder in my purse just in case I end up in restaurant that I don't like menu and I do my protein drink instead. I make all my meals so I don't waste food because it does bother me too. I also learned to start freezing meals so in a much later time I can have again. Seems now with this new life style is all about slowing down and taking time to plan out meals and only eat nutrition foods. I still have a lot to learn but this is my year to learn and make health #1 in my daily life. We are worth it and the Internet make it so much easer. I'm 6 months out from RNY surgery lost 85 lbs. it's getting easer the more I practice and apply what I'm learning. Take it day to day and be easy on yourself, you did a huge step in doing this life changing surgery and now the rest of you needs to catch up. Wish you the best! Lisa
  2. Update 6 months out. 85 lbs loss 6-1-17
  3. Thank you! I meant to write my staring weight. 294lbs BMI 49 now 209lbs 5'5"
  4. What a life changer. I love every bit of this process and my new lifestyle. Surgery went great and no complications, my energy high the whole time. So far no hair loss.
  5. hi, i had my RNY 1-12-17 the med they gave me to take two times a day for gas really made the gas worse so i on my own did only one time a day in morning and that helped me, i stop feeling bloated and sick. I'm not sure if that will work for you but worth a try. I also am having bowel movement issues since surgery. I don't go but very 10 days and it tares me. I been working on different things to help it but i still haven't got my new normal yet. Blessing and good luck.
  6. October I sat and spoke to a woman who had gastric bypass, and I decided right then this is my next step to trying to get this weight off. By December 22 I had my surgery date set on 1-12-17. I found a great company called Belightweight who arranged all I need to have it done. Since it was out of my pocket I need affordable price With quality. I had RNY done for $8900. It was like being in a really nice hotel room. I was alone during my stay for surgery. Everything was there I needed and so friendly and nice staff to help with anything I needed. Surgery was two hours, and recovery was 45 min. Then they put me back into my room. First thing I said was can I get up! And I did, I felt like crap and a little nauseous but I pushed through and keep getting up for the first three hours after surgery. By the. Third hour my pain level was very low and it stayed that way the rest of my time there. I was ready to leave before 24 hours after surgery but stayed another night because my flight did not leave till then. Had a really great experience and am so glad I did not have to hump through hoops and wait long time. I am five days post opp and off pain med. I'm feeling good and am so hopeful for future. Right now I am taking day to day and breaking some old habits in this season so when I can eat food again it will be easer. My starting weight 294. I I'm going to wait to weigh in again until two weeks out. I hope you can find some encouragement to those who are have not had their surgery done yet. . My biggest advice is to get out of that bed asap after surgery. Even if it is only one or two steps. Best of luck to you all. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  13. When I start have anxiety I learned a few things to help get through it, usually their are signs/ triggers that sets it in motion, learning to recognize them helps, for me it is that I am in fear and my mind is focused on it and I don't have control. That is my lie " I don't have control " I have written on paper quote that inspire me or scripture that speaks opposite of what I'm believing. I slow down "usually hide in bathrooms" pull the paper out, I always keep it with me. I read slowly and think about the words and who I am, the positive. If I need to cry I cry, embrace were you are in your journey. You are a strong confident person who has so much to offer this world and the world deserve YOU! Most people around me does not know I have the paper with me, it is just one tool that helps me. Sorry for your loss. Loss of a loved one is a deep hole in our hearts. When we Celebrate their life it makes bridges over that hole that allows us to move forward. They are a part of our journey. I'm sure your daughter would be so proud of you for this step you are taking to get healthy. I wish you peace and joy on your journey morningangle79. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  16. Thank you James for some great advise. I will take this advise and add it to my right now choices for a healthier me. I was planing on going back to 6 weeks after surgery, of course only if I am doing well through recovery. But I do have the option of staying longer if I need to. I do push myself but I know I need to be ever so careful with Water their and everyday stresses too. Right now m putting one foot in front of the other in this life changing journey. I'm so glad I found this form to reach out to people who are on the same path to get healthy. My 10 month post op will be at Everest Base Camp! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  17. Hi, I am happy to stumble on this group. I am getting ready for my January 12 bypass surgery RNY. I am doing all the research on Vitamin and which kind is best. Did/do you all find this overwhelming? I spend most of the year in a 3rd world country working and would need to bring these things with me after surgery. The mail system is not reliable but I can also have friends bring with them when they visit is possible. The first two weeks clear Protein, which is good? And a good sight to get vitamin? Also if you hade this type surgery what did you wish you knew before you did it? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
