  1. I think this is a great analogy! I started climbing my mountain many times only to get injured and fall down to the beginning. ? Decided many times it wasn't worth it. Until I decided I really need to do some preventive care before I hit 40 next year....I was a "healthy" fat person...and wouldn't have been for long if I didn't do something about it. Happy climbing y'all!
  2. Wow. Amazing. 6 years and still going. Hey, what's that tat say on your forearm? Is it Hebrew???
  3. That's an awesome deal. I'd totally be on board with that. Lol
  4. I would love to incorporate swimming but there aren't any lap pools close by really. And I'd love to learn to do the front stroke, etc properly too. I can swim but I guess I should take some lessons too. But I've thought to find out where water aerobics might be.
  5. I pray that too. Peace will get you through anything, no matter how dire the situation may be.
  6. Amazing!!!! Great job hon!
  7. I'm seven weeks out this week. I tend to burp when I'm content. I get the stuck feeling in the throat and the sensation that I'm going to throw up if I eat one too many bites or eat too fast, which is most likely overeating. Are you grazing? I've also experienced where I'll eat a bit or two and feel full and be hungry a bit later when grazing--which tends to be head hunger as well. When I really listen to my hunger cues and eat properly, I am hungry about every three hours.
  8. I had heartburn before the sleeve due to choices of food. My gastroenterologist placed me on a bland diet. Probably not the best for a sleever, but if you can somehow make food choices VERY bland, that should help. Don't eat anything 2-3 hours prior to laying down too. Not sure what else other than start with your diet and see if it lessens. If not, then you'll have to figure another option. Hope you get better hon.
  9. Happy 4th to you too. Congratulations on your journey. Amazing!
  10. Thank you so much Sweet! It is stressful at times, but the one thing that is great through it all is my mom's attitude. She says she's in a win-win situation and has nothing to fear. She wins if she goes "HOME" early to be with the Lord and she wins if she stays here and has more time with her grandchildren. (Note...she never said children. LOL...guess she's got enough of us! haha!!!). She told me not too long ago that she's at peace whether she has the cancer or not, because she knows that God is with her through it all. She just has to keep her faith and trust in Him. He's a good God, he didn't give her the cancer, He is not capable of evil of any kind, and so we are all keeping the HOPE alive. Thank you again for your kind words!
  11. It was! I was so tired though, I admit I didn't want to do it at first, but I saw how the girls were so eager to crack open an egg and mix, etc. My seven yr old even put on an apron my mom had made for my stepdaughter years ago. It was too cute. I still wish my 12 yr old would do something...lol. You're truly blessed with your girl.
  12. The science behind it all is amazing. I'll learn all I can with this. I do know from experience the couple of weeks I did strictly plant based before surgery, I did feel amazing. I'm terrible with logging down numbers, etc....but I'll be sharing here of course.
  13. So, I'm going to find the book Proteinaholic by dr Garth Davis. He's a bariatric surgeon based in Houston who has his patients on a plant based diet. According to calculations, my body only needs about 45g of protein a day, which I would totally get through my Whole Foods plant based diet. This is something I want to bring up to the nut. Similar to Dr Weiner's ways of eating too. I showed my husband before and after pics of men doing high proteins and exercise vs plant based and exercise. The latter are always more firm and cut. The men also state they have better energy, stamina, etc. goes the same for women. I'm thankful my hubby is on board with me. I think that packet of tuna I ate so fast earlier is definitely the last tuna I'll be having. I had already shopped for our meals this week, all plant based. (And its cheaper too!)
  14. I sure hope my mom will be too. There's hope!
  15. Really? They operated on her with the cancer? or so you know if she was in remission? My mom is stage 4, slow growing cancer in the lungs that originated in her uterus. I'm wondering if it's also the location and what type, etc. I can see maybe if it were breast cancer it might be easier to do. But lung, another issue. We need to be able to not get pneumonia, etc afterwards.seems like homework for me. ?
  16. I did exactly what my surgeon told me not to do. Been working on the kitchen. Then left to get my kids and swim lessons. I didn't eat. By the time I got home I was raving hungry. Ate a packet of tuna...WAY TOO FAST. I don't think I even chewed it. This is the worst I've ever felt after eating. Smh. All I want to do is drink some water, make it go down, but I know I'd feel worse with it. Sigh....lesson: don't wait too long to eat. Seems like I don't have slow eating down. It was easy when I felt funny after surgery. Now I don't, so...seems like I forget a lot easier.
  17. I told my husband that last week. Feels like I had nothing done too. Lol Have a great time at the BBQ tomorrow. Deviled eggs sound real good right now. ?
  18. My neighbor and I have agreed to walk together at least three times a week, starting tonight. I'm excited cause we really don't know each other and it'll be great getting to do so. She's lost about 40 lbs on her own since Jan. I'm extremely proud of her. My hope is that we encourage each other to keep on at it and keep on walking!
  19. Sugar is not my problem (I don't eat/drink dairy). I also don't have a set point of sugar grams set by my nut either). I do/am responsible for what I choose though. I've shared part of my story and I'm fine. Can't speak for everyone here. Just so you know.
  20. At the advice of the surgeon, I took MOM four days after surgery. Probiotics has kept me regular too. ?
  21. I started coffee back up about 3 weeks post op. Currently I love cold brew and drink the Chameleon brand mixed with a premier protein chocolate shake and ice. So good.
  22. I would listen all day too. ? My brother is going to Brasil for his second year, but he came back the first year stating that we don't know how to celebrate. lol. Guess it boils down to the US being so mixed up in cultures and not having the history to keep culture traditions.
  23. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I appreciate it very much. I would love to know how the Peruvian culture is. I think you may have said there's similarity without hispanics. But now I'm intrigued...I'm going to look it up. ? Food looks delish too. update: so it is very similar. Awesome! Peruvian culture is a beautiful mix of Hispanic and native traditions. The Quechua and the Aymara are the two main native cultures of Peru, both of whom speak their native languages. These Inca descendants have successfully preserved and developed their proud cultures despite the creeping in of globalization.
  24. Hello all. It's been a busy couple past days. Been working on the finishes to the kitchen. Today was church, out to eat with my folks. Of course I didn't order. I just picked from my hubby's plate. I enjoyed that. Lol. Ran errands. Made a cake with my two youngest. Laid down cause I was tired and ended up sleeping for three hours!!! I usually never take naps! Did some grocery shopping and now relaxing. My mom told me today that she was looking at the gastric sleeve surgery. I was excited to hear it. Her doctor told her that he would recommend the surgeon I have, but she then said, no one will do a surgery on a cancer patient. THAT BROKE MY HEART! ? So my prayer for my mom is this, SHE's FULLY HEALED FROM LUNG CANCER. NO TRACE OF IT EVER IN HER BODY. IN JESUS's NAME. AMEN. She's been overweight all her life and have all kinds of problems from it. She needs a break and that's my hope. She just overcame the large blood clot in her lung, she'll overcome the cancer too.
  25. Mmmm, I enjoyed the ricotta bake I made early in the journey. Haven't made it sense. Adding beef is good. I bet it was yummy. How much do you think you're eating? I still can't seem to eat more than 2 oz at a time. Sometimes it's only and ounce and I feel like I over ate. But also, I've been eating too fast and think it's mostly that. Been off the ppi here for a few days. So far so good. Have you had heartburn, reflux?
