HEALTHY Vegan/Vegetarian Recipe Swap and Pics!
Hey hon. I don’t count protein AT ALL. not worth the hassle, considering our bodies are not scientifically made for an overdose of it (the western diet pushes that). I just eat Whole Foods plant based and yes, I eat pasta too. ya not my favorite, but I’ll have some. If I have to pick apart my Foods by macro and micro nutrients, then carbs are my friends. Lol. But I don’t. My loss has slowed because I’m not working out. Still losing the pounds though. That’s all that counts to me. I’m not in a race. I also don’t weigh myself that much either. As for my diet, I’m sticking to it. My doc/but is fine with it too. Actually got the surgeon reading Proteinaholic. ? yay me!!!

HEALTHY Vegan/Vegetarian Recipe Swap and Pics!
@niseys4 hey there. I apologize for not responding way sooner. I’ve been off the grid, so to speak, for a while. Hon, it was hard for me to make the transition, but I eventually did and I’m so happy I did too. What helped me immensely is using the vegan/vegetarian recipes on www.budgetbytes.com. Such a great site. I think I make about 85% of my meals from there. Check it out! I’ll do my best to check in more often as well https://www.budgetbytes.com/category/recipes/vegetarian/vegan/

May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!
Hey guys. I couldn’t find the page! Guess some updates happened. Tonorrow were 7mo post. It’s been busy, hectic, and stressful for me. Waiting sooooooo bad for the holidays to be over! Anyway, I’ll check in tomorrow. I’ll be super surprised if I lost anything, given my stress levels these past couple of months. I’ll be happy enough to have maintained and probably a tad upset if I’m up a pound or two (but nothing to worry about). Anyway, hope everyone is well. Hope to hear from you all mañana. ?

Cigna - Center of Excellence required?
I’m not sure if it was or not, but I had a COE as well. I would assume that it isn’t required, if the rep couldn’t find anything. But we all know that sometimes reps don’t know everything either. Hope you find your answer, although it wouldn’t hurt to choose a COE to start, and if you’re able.

May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!
Ok Nevermind my scale number yesterday. Doc office weighs me in at 192. My BMI is now 31. Fat mass percentage is still about 15% too high, I’ve got to work on muscle. Overall, it’s good. Since I’m having issues with my tendons in my feet and shoulder problems (ugh, I’m too young for this mess), doc wants me to ride a bike (so boring!!!) for now. I guess so....better than nothing. His goal is another 20 lbs. whether I want to do it by 9 mo or by 12 mo. My choice. Obviously 9 mo would be my choice. So, I’ll work harder/focus until my 9 mo appt in Feb.

May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!
Great job hon! Sometimes I find myself slipping, but it’s only a great thing that I can’t slip a ton of food, just a few bites. Anyway, it takes work. I’m going to have to focus on making it work and sticking to it! You keep it up....and when you hit 200, or better yet, 199...let us know. We’ll celebrate with you! ?

May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!
Today is our 6 months post! Seems forever since it happened. I haven’t budged much these past two months (mostly stress). I’m currently 194. Should I be lower? Probably? Do I care? Not really at the moment. I know I’ll get back in action soon. Until then, I’m still healthier and happier about my physique than before, so I’ll take it. 72 lbs down from my highest, 55 lbs down from surgery. Sounds pretty good to me. Hope to hear from y’all. ?

How many people have GERD and get a sleeve anyway?
I dealt with it pretty bad pre-op; I had a chronic cough as well (usually after I ate). Had the sleeve. Took the ppi’s for a few weeks and ran out. Haven’t had any meds since, nor GERD or the annoying cough. I’m just shy of 6 months post now. I give my thanks to God above (my personal belief) knowing the stats of it and having a sleeve. I just believed and prayed that it wouldn’t be an issue for me. So, my prayer has been answered.

Not hungry
I’ve never had a number to go by from my nut. Just eat sensibly and not overeat. Sure there are some food guidelines, but she really wants me to be mindful of what my body needs. I often do not finish any last bite. I consider myself a success thus far....you should too. ?

Depo vs getting pregnant after WLS
I too had depo pre WLS and was pregnant about 4 month afterwards. Sorry I can’t help about post op WLS. I’m sure someone might be able too. Hopefully! Happy getting pregnant hon!!!

Not hungry
Maybe this applies further out??? Cause I’m surely not going to force myself to eat just because it is “time to eat” or “need to have such and such macro/micro nutrients in for the day”. If I’m not hungry, I don’t need to be eating. That’s like mindless eating. Not going back to that.
-
Not hungry
Well that was my rule, but it didn’t apply really. I was physically hungry by day 5. But keep in mind, it was food related, he did want all fluids and protein drinks consumed. I guess I should have been more clear. Reasoning behind it is to not force yourself to eat. Your body will know when it needs fuel. Or should know.....
-
Not hungry
My doc’s orders were, “if you’re not hungry, don’t eat.” Just be mindful of your fluids for sure. You will eventually get hungry.

My story - Would like a friend in similar situation
Believe me...you will once you start solids!!! Soups are liquids, much easier to get down and do more of.

Fundus was large....
Well that’s cool. I would think that having a large or extremely large fundus removed would be true to losing a lot more weight post op. Your body was used to eating a whole lot more, so I’m pretty hopeful your surgeon is right...the hunger cues shouldn’t be so pronounced anymore.

Will do. So far I’m loving it!!! My back does too. ? also kind of feels like the circulation in my legs have improved too. See how my thighs aren’t laying on the bottoms of the seat so much? Not sure if you can. I can slide a small book underneath if I had one.

Intermittent Fasting
Without realizing it and this is probably true for many of us with WLS, I just counted the hours since I last ate and broke my fast. Last ate right before 7:30 yesterday and then I didn’t eat until about 10:30 this morning. That’s 15 hours of fasting. This way most everyday is intermittent fasting unintentionally for me. Doc tells me to not eat unless hungry anyway.... oh and doing this without WLS, it’s hard in the beginning. I just about died the first few days fasting 16:8. But like anything else, you get used to it. I’ve had great success, but my mind wasn’t where it needed to be to stay focused on my health long term then.

Intermittent Fasting
Fasting and carbs....for most people, yes, they hear fasting and think you’re not eating. Sure there are those types of fasts as well. Same thing with carbs, people think they’re all bad, but fail to realize how good complex ones are for us. So, it’s really all about being ignorant (not a put down) of the facts or just not informed. Once informed, then you can have the realization and hopefully openness that will change your way of thinking for the better. But if you’re not open kind of person, you’ll be staunch in your ways.

HEALTHY Vegan/Vegetarian Recipe Swap and Pics!
Welcome! And congrats on your surgery hon. I hope someone can chime in for soft foods...cause I didn’t really change my diet to plant based until I was on solids. If I should find some time, I’ll do some research for you though. ?

I’m using my balance disc at work. It’s like getting used to a spin bike seat for the first time Lol. Feels great for my back. But the “down there” is a little numb. After a few days, eventually I’ll get used to it. You can clearly see how my chair back is way too relaxing. I can fix it upright, but it won’t “teach” me to sit up straight all the time. I could easily scoot forward and rest my upper back against it. The disc actually doesn’t allow you to slouch, due to no backing. it feels weird trying to when there’s no back rest.

Intermittent Fasting
You are speaking of yourself here. Just do us all a favor and post your scientific sources and we’ll make the decisions based on our own research for what’s good for OUR own bodies. Or I’d rather you just leave this thread....thanks in advance for doing so.
