Voter registration
I received an email today with a great commentary on this (sorry, I can't link it because it's an email, not a web page): In the weeks leading up to November 4, the New York Post found dozens of people who have different names but share the same story. Most of the accounts, like Christopher Barkley's, are from swing states and involve ACORN, the "community activist group" submitting the bulk of the new voter applications. Barkley says he was "hounded" to register by ACORN workers in Ohio, a crown jewel of the presidential race. "I kept getting approached by folks who asked me to register. They'd ask me if I was registered. I'd say yes, and they'd ask me to do it again." Ohio voter Lateala Goins told a Post reporter, "You can tell them you're registered as many times as you want; they do not care. They will follow you to the buses, they will follow you home..." Another man in Cleveland says he "was given cash and cigarettes" by ACORN representatives for registering a whopping 72 times in the last year and a half. The fraud gets even worse in Texas, where one county found that 4,000 of its registered voters were dead-but even that didn't stop many of them from voting! In Florida, a state that President Bush won by less than 600 ballots in 2000, the Sun-Sentinel learned that more than 30,000 felons are still on the rolls, despite the law rendering them ineligible. Although 11 states are investigating ACORN's role in widespread election fraud, time is short. With the nation on edge and Americans sharply divided as to who can lead us back, democracy cannot become corruption's next victim. Regardless of who wins, we all have a stake in an honest process.

WHY are people voting for McCain?
Add to that the fact that Obama voted twice in the 2009 budget resolution to raise taxes on anyone making $42k or above, and the fact that you can't only tax people making over $250k to pay for all of the extra spending Obama is "obsurdly" proposing, and you have to squarely face the fact that taxes are going to go up on everyone with Obama as pres. Then, of course, if you own stock and Obama increases the capital gains tax from 15% to 28% (as he's said he would), it doesn't matter if you make $250k or not -- up go your taxes. The Congress' Joint Committee on Taxation show 20% of those with capital gains in 2005 had annual incomes less than $50,000 -- oops -- did we just get a tax increase on people making under $250k? And then today, showing his stunning knowledge of the economy, Obama proposed a zero capital gains tax for small businesses. Which, of course, small businesses don't pay. "Obsurd."

Election fraud and donor violations are not a trivial matter. Especially if the donations are being masked under made up names because they're foreign.

Poll - Democrat or Republican?
FASCINATING! Lately I've been finding a lot of annoyingly poorly documented articles asking the reader to reach a conclusion that may be accurate but simply isn't warranted by the data presented. At first, as I was reading this article, I thought it would be of a similar nature -- but as I continued, I found it to be very compelling. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it were true. This article about the connection between Ayres and Obama is also well done: Ayers and Obama: Follow the Money | Verum Serum.

We need some investigations, to be sure, but I'm not holding my breath. While they're at it, they should investigate some of Obama's donors. More Bogus Obama Donors Surface, Donations Made Between July and Early August - CBS News. Specifically, people like Dahsudhu Hdusahfd who lives in the town of Df, Hawaii and works for “CZXVC/ZXVZXV”, and Uadhshgu Hduadh who Obama’s scrupulous campaign records show is currently employed by “DASADA/SAFASF”.

You'd think in 2008 we'd be able to figure out a way to have a one person, one vote system. Not likely.

What about what I posted isn't "real information"?

Poll - Democrat or Republican?
Just like "global warming", everything is Bush's fault. There's no need to find a rational explanation.

Poll - Democrat or Republican?
It was an interesting read. No matter which side you're on, I would think it important to know when someone's deliberately lying. Especially since you don't always hear it in the MSM.

WHY are people voting for McCain?
I don't think that's a realistic question to answer because of the 1st Amendment. However, there is a reasonable question of a pro-life Democrat vs. a pro-abortion Republican, and in that case I definitely wouldn't vote for the Republican. I would look very closely at the Democrat's stand on other issues to see if I could stomach them, and if I could I would vote for the Dem (gulp!). But more likely I would end up voting for a 3rd party candidate.

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?
What he does is lie and make things up. This wasn't a gaffe. It was an outright lie. The Katie's Restaurant in which he supposedly chats with the patrons has been closed for 15 years. The employees of the Home Depot in which he supposedly spends a lot of time don't remember ever seeing him there.

Have you looked at Obama's net worth recently? His INCOME in 2007 (not his NET WORTH but his INCOME) was $4.2 million. I think all politicians are out of the mainstream's league in terms of net worth. But having a net worth of $1.2 million wouldn't make me do backflips about how out-of-the-norm it is -- especially where I live in California! You don't have to have much of a house here to get pretty high up in net worth pretty darn fast.

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?
You know, Biden gave a "shout out" too -- to the patrons of Katie's Restaurant (even though it's been out of business for 15 years) and to the patrons of Home Depot that he talks to all the time (even though he never goes there). At least Palin's "shout out" was to real people!

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?
Me, too. I'd happily switch -- I'd love for the Dems to get the 34 TX votes and the Republicans to get CA's 55.

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?
As always, luluc, you are entitled to your opinion. I don't agree but it ain't you and me who're going to decide this election! There's not a snowball's chance in hell California is going to go Republican and I'd venture a guess the same is true about Texas going Democrat.

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?
I just don't see how you can be embarassed by her. Sarah Palin is an educated woman. You may disagree with her politics, but that doesn't mean she's not intelligent and educated. I don't like a lot of left-wing politicians, but just because I don't agree with their politics, style, or mannerisms doesn't mean I think they're insulting, unprofessional, or uneducated. And they certainly don't embarass me because, quite simply, they're not me. The only one who can embarass me is me.

Again, I thought that was just very real. Can you imagine how important that made those 3rd graders feel? Kids need that -- to feel they're important. In fact, 3rd graders watching all over the nation were probably cheering when they heard it. IMO there was nothing wrong with it. I thought it was awesome. Politicians of all shapes and sizes regularly visit elementary school classes, read books to them, visit children's hospitals, hold and kiss babies, etc. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, either. It personalizes them to connect with kids. How do you feel about the kids from Venice, CA, singing, literally singing, Obama's praises (YouTube video) with other students, led by what looks like a teacher, being watched adoringly by their parents? Do you think that demeans Obama?

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?
It's interesting how differently that can be perceived. I didn't think what she was doing was sexual at all. I don't know who she was winking to (I don't think it was the television audience, but rather a particular person in the live audience). When she gave her speech at the RNC, I noticed at one point, when the applause was preventing her from speaking, that she mouthed the words, "You're beautiful" to someone in the audience. I assumed it was one of her daughters, and I took it as a nurturing thing. I took her winking the same way -- she was reaching out to someone in the audience that she knew personally. But that's just the way I saw it; I know others saw it differently.
