    Five months out[emoji17]

I'm 4-1/2 months out (January 3rd was my sleeve surgery). I started at 249 and am down 63 pounds. (My expected total weight loss is supposed to be 89 pounds.) I eat 4 ounces of protein at each of my three meals with a protein shake (30g) between breakfast and lunch and between lunch and dinner. I've been working out three times a week since six weeks after my surgery. I started losing my hair about a month ago. I'm told that it can last 6 months up to a year. I hoping it's on the lower end as I have thin hair to begin with.

    Advice

I had my surgery on January 3rd. Because our stomach swells after the surgery, the first 1-2 weeks tend to make it difficult to get in the liquids then Protein shakes needed. The doctors/nurses know this. Just take small sips all day long to keep you hydrated. This will pass. As the swelling goes down, your stomach will accept more liquids and then soft foods.

    January 2017 Sleevers!

Update: My December 20th surgery was cancelled due to laryngitis. I just finished my second round of Prednisone with no improvement. Went to an ENT this morning. I'm now on an antibiotic and hydrocodone cough suppressant. I was able to be cleared for surgery on January 3rd. I'm remain hopeful, but seeing I was in the hospital, in my gown, and had my IV in before the surgery was cancelled, I'm keeping my hope at bay.

Does anyone else feel this way

Be a loud advocate for yourself. Call and pester them until someone helps you. Same applies when you're in the hospital. Keep on top of making sure you get your meds when needed. If you have to be a bitch, be one. You deserve the best. Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App

I can't hep with your pre-op diet questions. My doctor doesn't require it.

    January 2017 Sleevers!

My laryngitis postponed my 12/20 surgery, so January 3rd is my new surgery date. I'm now a January sleever!!!
  8. UPDATE: This morning's surgery was cancelled due to my laryngitis. Rescheduled for January 3rd. I am beyond disappointed, as you can all imagine.
  9. Today's the day!!!! Four hours until my sleeve surgery. I didn't sleep worth a hoot. Awake every hour, but I think that's probably expected. Developed laryngitis since Sunday night. Nurse said it won't be a problem. Praying my doctor is of the same thinking. My throat is already sore. The breathing tube will probably add to that soreness. Question: Did everyone have someone with them after they returned from the hospital? Is it a necessity?
  10. My sleeve surgery is Tuesday, the 20th. I'll be the first surgery, so I'm happy about that. I have lymphedema and overweight, so I am doubly excited for the surgery to be behind me and the changes to begin. I look forward to having less swelling and less pain, especially in my legs. I look forward to being able to be anything but sedentary. My only nervousness is with the fact that I'm on my own. I have a friend dropping me off on Tuesday and a co-worker picking me up from the hospital on Thursday and dropping me home. I'm a grown, independent woman, but I do wish I wasn't totally alone. My parents cannot travel any longer; my sister will be on a cruise; and, my son has his own family to care for. Has anyone else gone it alone?
  11. I thought carbonated beverages were a no-no including ginger ale. I also see people singing the praises of Gas-X Strips, but my nurse said they are a band-aid for the gas when, in fact, the gas needs to come out not be suppressed. Thoughts?
  12. Does anyone know if I can take tessalon perles for my persistent cough before Tuesday's surgery?
  13. Scheduled for 12/20. I had a cold two weeks ago. For the past 3 days, I have a dry cough (similar to how my bronchitis started). Is this going to be an issue?
  14. I had a scare. My potassium levels were low due to my having to take a diuretic for swelling from lymphedema, and m doctor wanted to cancel my December 20th surgery.. I had to go off the diuretic starting Saturday, and I got retested yesterday. I put as much potassium-rich foods in my system, and I was lucky to have my numbers back up. I pray nothing gets in the way now.
  15. I got my insurance approval Thursday. I have my pre-op class on Wednesday the 14th, and my surgery is on the 20th.
  16. My surgery is scheduled for December 20th. How do I join your group? This is my first time on a blog.
