In Scotland if you have had/have a lapband your automatically under consultant care and Water births are out. It's mainly due incase band slips or is damaged due to getting compressed in pregnancy. Sleeves are monitored but not high risk. I was consultant care for my delivery and had midwife do everything until I knew my daughter was stuck and forceps used. Nothing wrong with it, still a vaginal birth and only on entanox - no medals needed here. Speak to your OB - we are put onto BC the minute we see surgeon as 18 months minimum is required to heal fully and get settled into your new diet regime. Everywhere is different tho. I have PCOS too and what a pain in arse it is for weight loss. My OB who is head honcho for west of Scotland says VGS will be amazing for PCoS but you must start BC before surgery as quickly becomes obvious than periods will get mental and fertility jumps up. I had my psych evaluation just over a month ago and the forms I filled out AFTER the chat was very similar to what's been posted. Our evaluation lasted 90 minutes, it's an in depth chat about food, trigger points in life which may cause issues in future, what support is available and what could damage that support I won't lie, they are looking for weaknesses and being honest is the first thing they will tell you to be as if they know your not being then it's a MAJOR red flag. They are there to support you, offer guidance and techniques to help support yourself but in our managment service you aren't progressed to surgical classes or surgeons until they are 100% satisfied. I can only speak on my experience, Glasgow is incredibly difficult to access WLS via NHS and I truly believe USA need to tighten up it's legislation to access the surgery - that's coming from watching family go into far too easy and failing. One thing I can say about my journey (current waiting on surgery date) is the amount of toxic bullshit people come out with. Personality change, no fun anymore, won't work etc etc etc. I've cut out a LOT of toxic people in my life and found some new friends who are behind me 100% - my in laws are ones I've cut out as MIL has done our progrAmme but believes I'll fail. They can go slightly mental as you loose weight so if it's possible, looks at BC that may help alleviate periods or stop them all together. Depends on what disorder your talking about and if you already have guards in place for blood clots? My friend/wls buddy has Factor V plus a clot catching stent installed and she was OK, For myself I developed a BC in my leg a month before gallbladder surgery and was on Clexane for that whole time plus more, needed a clear scan before proceeding. Hi lass I'm glad you know what's going on now and a question to ponder is that how was your band placed awkwardly by a trained surgeon at THG? I'd look into it and maybe send off a complaint, get records to see how it was placed as if they are at fault then maybe they should sort it. It's a very long process but teaches you a lot. Normally it's about 16 months if you go through to surgery but this is my fifth time doing this so successful getting surgery is dependant on tomorrow meeting with surgeon but I'm optimistic. I'm at a disagreement with diabetics only getting the surgery option as its been proven before that unless habits change the disease comes back and it's proven by those who have had to come back from previous loss and surgery for more drastic help. Scotland is very strict with our NHS and each area within Scotland is different too. I'm NHS Glasgow and it's taken me 10 years to get this far within the weight managment programme. Our basic timeline is like this. 1: GP sends referral if classed as morbid obese - referral can take 6 months. 2. Interview with dietitian and papers signed for referral to classes. Another 6-8 weeks before placement. 3. 12 classes to start with, one each fortnight, and during this if you lose more than 11lbs you are discharged. 4. If weight not lost then 4 classes, one each month, again if you reach 11lbs your discharged. If you gain more than 11lbs without obvious reason then you are discharged as proves your not trying 5. Repeat above with medication called Orlistat - 11Lb rule still applies . 6. If weight still not lost then you come back within 2 months to start a pre surgical class and get dates for the 4 mandatory classes that take place every 2 weeks. During this time you need to have weight loss and go on a practice surgical diet. 7. By the time you have done 2 classes you should have seen the surgeon, THEY make the final decision and will put you on the waiting list. If approved you normally will have surgery within 12 weeks. During this time you must lose weight or maintain with no more than 2Lb weight gain either way. Forgot to say, if you do leave by choice or discharged, you must wait 13 months before referral again and another 6 months potentially for going into all the classes again. No fast track happens and the rules have just changed in NHs so diabetics only get surgery unless special case. Getting plastic surgery for a Panni etc is even more difficult as you MUST have a skin infection or irritation for over a year before weight loss began or surgery was completed Hope this helps Fridge Pickers Wear Bigger Knickers ????
