  1. Friends, I've done some things very right for me like exercising, joining this forum, & quitting alcohol. But I've also done some things very wrong for me like drinking too much, eating too much occasionally, & not seeking support when I needed it. I hope this thread is helpful to you.
  2. Two or so days after surgery I was on the treadmill. 0.1 miles the first day, 0.2 the second, 0.3 the third. I just kept adding more. After 7-10 days I started ab work, again very slowly. I still exercise & was on the treadmill this morning. I'm a U.S. Army veteran & being able to move again is one of the best parts of this for me. The weight loss slowed down, stopped, & reversed direction the more alcohol I drank. Proud to say I haven't had any alcohol in more than 10 weeks. I definitely have acid reflux. There are lots of acidic foods I enjoy. Champagne, beer, & even fizzy water like La Croix "repeat" on me. Being a stomach sleeper doesn't help. I'm passively considering a revision, not actively. I reserve the right to change that answer though!
  3. I can have wine, but as I mentioned in another reply, I grew to like wine too much. I was drinking one to two bottles every night. I'm proud to say I haven't had any alcohol for more than 10 weeks! What do I do when I'm in a large group? I tell people, "Enjoy!" I eat my portion & that's that. I've regained nearly 40 of the 108lbs I lost. I'm not proud of that. Alcohol played a part. I'm sorry to read you're nauseous & constipated. I hope both of those improve for you!
  4. I can pretty easily eat 8 ounces of just about anything. More than that & I feel uncomfortable. I'm not hungry a lot. Once a day around 4:30pm I could definitely use some food. I'm trying to anticipate that so I have good options available to me.
  5. Can I? Yes. Do I? No. I've always been more of a wine person than a beer person. That said, I grew to enjoy wine too much. I got to the point that I was drinking one to two bottles of wine every night. That was a poor choice. I'm proud to say it's been more than 10 weeks since I've had any alcohol. I have few regrets in life, but if I had to do drink that much again, I wouldn't.
  6. Thanks! I gained some weight back. I lost a total of 108lbs & have regained about 40. I'm not proud of that. Luckily I require no prescription medications, as all my other vital signs are well within normal limits. This journey we're all on is hard!
  7. Yes. I started a few weeks after surgery. I'm sipping some right now!
  8. No. Yes, but I'd more seriously consider gastric bypass for myself.
  9. I'm sorry you're in a stall. First, stop freaking out over this. Freaking out isn't helping you. When you're only 47 days out, the scale going up 2 lbs seems like the end of the world. It isn't. Our bodies naturally fluctuate that much daily. That said, if you do the same things, you'll get the same results. If you want something different to happen, you've got to do something different. Are you doing any exercise?
  10. October 16, 2014, I had sleeve gastrectomy surgery. A lot's happened since then. Ask me anything.

  12. All good suggestions here. String cheese, too.
  13. In my experience, I think that's pushing it. But I'm not you. Any chance you could get a sub this time?
  14. Congratulations on your progress! Since you've already had surgery, you might find more answers on the POST-surgery forum. That said, so many questions here revolve around the question of normalcy. If you get hungry when you stay up later, what if you went to bed earlier? Good luck!
  15. I'm not a woodwind player but I am a brass player. A few days after surgery I started slowly with a minute or so of mouthpiece buzzing. The next day I added another minute. Then another. Soon my horn was in my hands & I was building up time. Take it slow. Let yourself heal. Good luck!
  16. You should be fine. Just don't make a habit of doing this. Good luck!
  17. I'm sorry you don't have support & are in pain. We're here. You are not alone. Good luck.
  18. Welcome to the forum. Of course many of us were nervous! I don't know anyone who wouldn't be nervous about being approved for a life-changing surgical procedure! A LOT of posts here come down to the question: "Is this normal?!" IMO, 99% of the time, the answer is a loud "Yes!" You are not alone.
  19. Congratulations! See you over on the POST-Surgery forum!
  20. I'd be more surprised if you weren't nervous! I know I was so nervous I was convinced I was going to die on the operating table. It's okay. It's going to be okay. You are not alone. Good luck!
