  21. Hello all!! Well my date is fast approaching (Dec. 6th) . I'm starting to wonder if having a surgery pal might be helpful to anyone or for myself. It appears that the change is going to be both physically and emotionally taxing, so I figure it wouldn't hurt to have someone available who relates step by step. We can swap some diet stages recipes... Maybe even be a workout partner in the near future. Anyone else have a date set early December? Are you in the ATL Georgia area? I would love to find a surgery buddy!!! Hope to hear from you soon. Sent from Dee~Dee via BariatricPal
  22. Um, really? The nurse has absolutely no influence on the physician, and very little with the administration. While she may be wrong, she is sharing her experience in that facility. I agree that she should offer some ideas such as contacting the patient advocate or the CNO, but firing her? Really? As a nurse, I don't excuse poor behavior, but firing over this? I don't think so.Yep really! It's my opinion and I feel strongly that no patient should Ever be mad to feel like they have no options. Clearly that facility does not make the patient a priority. The nurse has absolutely NO control in this situation. Firing the nurse would be pointless because the issue is way over what a nurse can possibly navigate!! The OP needs to get access to the practices Medical Director, the hospitals board of directors and a lawyer asap!!!! An advocate or hospital nursing supervisor can provide these contacts for you. ALWAYS make record of names, dates, times and incidents. Try to get EVERYTHING in writing. I would not let them know I contacted a lawyer at this point. But I would definitely be a "squeaky wheel" until I was satisfied that the best was being done for my loved one. Sent from Dee~Dee via BariatricPal
  23. Excellent question! I have GERD and my surgeon still recommended the sleeve. I questioned it once I learned that people have issues with GERD post op sleeve. The practice keeps telling me that they mostly see GERD resolved after sugery. But Im thinking.... not according to what I keep reading. Im so confused because my nut is a 2nd generation gastric surgeon who's been doing this over a decade. I've only heard good things about him and I love his bedside manner. Has anyone with GERD previous to gastric sleeve had it resolve afterwards? If not, did it stay the same or worsen? Sent from Dee~Dee via BariatricPal
  24. I had severe GERD. I used to take liquid antacid, Tums, and acid controller plus a daily PPI to deal with it. I had a 4 cm hernia repaired during sleeve surgery and have had no issues since. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Quick question.... Did you know about the hernia prior to surgery or was it found and repaired during surgery? I've heard lots of people say they had hernia repair during surgery and I believe I have one... but wonder if you need pre-authorization to get it repaired during sleeve? Thanks Sent from Dee~Dee via BariatricPal It was found during the EGD. I actually had 2 repaired during surgery. No pre-authorization was needed. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Ok thanks so much. Sent from Dee~Dee via BariatricPal
