Late decision change.
I don't think you should put your relationship with the surgeon over what you feel is right for your health. Your health comes before their convenience. It is crazy that you have to redo 4 months. Shame on them for trying to make you feel like garbage. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Why no preop diet?
From what I've read, if you don't have fatty liver disease, you won't have to have a pre-op diet. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Tricare Insurance
Sounds like I'm in the same boat as you. I have Standard so I have to go off post. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App Yes I do. I'm in VA beach Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I am at Eustis. I am just starting the bariatric program at Portsmouth. Before I received my referral, I considered going standard and through the bariatric program at Sentara. I went to the orientation last week and see the surgeon on the 10th. There is a facebook group, I believe it is called Weight loss surgery with tricare. All of the women in that group are so helpful! They explained the entire process to me beforehand, so that I'd have a greater understanding of tricare and the bariatric programs. There are locals in there too. One just had the surgery in July and she is standard. She is very helpful and helps me with all of my questions. She went through sentara. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Questions....
@@Inner Surfer Girl, I saw a ig post of someone having shrimp and asparagus the other day. So when she said those two, I thought it was weird. But I'm not going to question her. Haha. She said the asparagus was stringy and that I'd have to avoid other stringy foods too. @@The New Kel, I'm a stomach sleeper. I can't sleep on my back. When I had my c-sections, I don't know what kept me awake more, the babies or that I couldn't sleep on my stomach. Haha. @@suzzzzz, She said, "No more asparagus. No asparagus tips." It is so odd that we all get different information. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Questions....
Yeah, she said Pasta, bread, rice, asparagus and shrimp... among others. She said it was stringy. I could understand right after, but she said never. And I saw a couple vsg people on instagram that have been eating it lately, so I wondered if she was just saying that. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Questions....
Because of my weight and me being shy, I don't really make friends. And we recently moved states. So I have no friends nearby who would see the changes up close. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Questions....
Thanks for your response. I moved away from my hometown when I was 20. So I haven't seen most of my friends or family in up to 7 years. Back then I weighed about 190. I don't really post body pics or selfies on social media, so they haven't seen that I've gained more weight. but the last time I did post a body pic, I was about 180. And that was a few years ago. So, I think they might find exercising believable. The nutritionist told me yesterday that I would never be able to eat asparagus again. It was surprising. Questions....
I have some questions for those that have had the surgery. 1. How long before you could sleep on your stomach again? 2. When were you allowed to start exercising? 3. Have you noticed a difference in what your feet look like? 4. Or you calves? (I've always had big calves, since having my daughter. It would be nice to have regular sized calves again) 5. How has your closest friends or family reacted? Especially if it was initially a secret. 6. If it was(is) a secret, did(do) they suspect anything? (I plan on keeping it a secret, but will be up front with exercise routines I do). 7. Was you told that you couldn't have asparagus? So many questions, but I figured I better knock it all out at once. Haha. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

History of blood clots
Thank you for your response. I feel a little relieved that someone else is able to go through with it. I think I will feel a lot better when I am able to talk to the surgeon to see if he will have a game plan. Getting no support from the hematologist was quite upsetting. I have a filter that has been in place for over 14 years, due to PEs. I'm hoping that will help. I'm definitely scared of clotting. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

History of blood clots
Hello, this is my first post. I tried to look through to find information, but the posts I found were never updated. I have a history of clotting, a few times in my legs and once in my portal vein. I've been tested several times and they can never find a reason as to why I clot sometimes. I am just now starting this journey. I go tomorrow for my orientation at the bariatric surgeon's office. I saw my new hematologist today. He said that he hopes that I'm not trying to have a gastric bypass. I said I am trying to get a sleeve. He said that he'd advise against it because they receive patients all the time who have had the surgery and are lacking the nutrients and all of them gain the weight back. He said that I should just lose 2 lbs a month, 24 a year. I'd still be obese. He then left the room and the nurse said that they'd advise against it because of my history of clotting and the fact that I'd have to be placed on blood thinners right after surgery and they won't do that or be willing to give me the dose I need. She said to ask the surgeon. She then said that I have kids that I need to worry about and shouldn't be take part in elective surgeries. She said surgeries that I need to save my life are different. But if I am obese and unhealthy and at risk of a stroke or heart attack, I would think that would be saving my life?. Am I being selfish for wanting to do this? Has anyone been in this situation where they clot, what happened to you? I am so worried. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
