  1. I was glad to read that some others are hitting that stall! I am a month out and the first 20 went fairly quickly, but in the last week....nothing! I do agree that the inches do still seem to be moving, so that is good.

    Pain

I too was having the pain in my stomach when I would drink. I asked the dr. And he said I was either drinking too much or too fast. So I have slowed down considerably, and it seems to be better. I am 5 days out!
  3. Finally heard back from my dr. And he said i was having an allergic reaction to the adhesive they had used. Told me to take it off, wash the incisions, and cover them with bandaids. I did that, and it is helping. One less thing to worry about!
  4. Never mind. I figured out the ticker!
  5. How can I attach the body weight ticker to my post?
  6. Had my surgery on the 14th. 4 days post op and have lost 4#. Doesn't seem like much but at least it is going the right way. I have not had any problems getting in my fluids or protien at this point. Still having some pain in the incisions, but no nausea. However, I think I am having an allergic reaction to whatever they used to close my incisions! There is a red ring around each of them, and they itch like crazy! No swelling, tenderness or discharge so I don't think it is infection. Anyone else have issues with this!
  7. I am also using the Premier Protien shakes. I can also have jello, popsicles, diluted juice, broth, decaf tea with mine. Today I am supposed to have two ounces every 30 minutes. I am having a hard time just because I feel like I am constantly consuming something!!

    Surgery Dec 14th.

I had mine on the. 14th too. I am still quite sore at the incision sites, but pretty good otherwise. I have not had any problems getting my fluids and proteins down and haven't felt nauseous at all. I keep reading about all the problems people are having not being able to keep things down and having problems swallowing, etc. how are others handling it 3 days out?
  9. I, too, had my surgery on December 14th! Things have gone really well, although I am quite sore where the incision sites are. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea several years ago, and do wear a full face mask. I am very claustrophobic, and wasn't sure I could do it! But it has been fine. It can be very serious, so follow up on this!! Best of luck!
  10. I didn't tell everyone, but did confide in my mom, brother, kids, and some close friends. When I explained my reasons behind my decision (several co-morbidity conditions), even my naysayers backed off and were supportive. Had my surgery two days ago, and at this point have had no problems with nausea. Quite sore today, but that is mostly from incision sites. Good luck to all!
  11. Surgery was yesterday, and so far feeling pretty good! Did have some gas pains last night but better today. Some discomfort but overall not too bad! Should be able to g0 home this afternoon, then on with the rest of my new life!
  12. Sitting in the hospital waiting room! Can't believe the day is finally here! Prayers for all having surgery today as well!
  13. Got a call from the dr. office. Good news is that I got my wish and I get to go first in the morning (there are two of us scheduled). Bad news...we have to be there at 5:30am!!! Oh well...ready to get going!
  14. Tomorrow is the day!! Doing my pre-op today. Not really feeling nervous yet, just excited! It has really helped having everybody on this forum! Almost before I can ask a question, someone has already answered it! I will probably be more nervous tomorrow but am so ready to start this journey!

    pre op diet

I am on day 5 of my liquid diet! I actually made a big pot of homemade veggie soup, and then just strain the veggies out. Tastes better than plain broth! My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday December 14th, and my approval from insurance didn't come through until two days ago!! I was starting to sweat a little

What was your pre op diet?

That is pretty much what my dr. said too.

    Only one?

Mine is in Illinois about 30 minutes from where I live. I think one reason people go Mexico is because they can't get insurance approval, and it is less expensive there. What I have heard anyway.
  18. At my last support group mtg we spent a lot of time talking about the holidays. My family is supportive so I will focus on just spending time with them. It was suggested that maybe joining the family after the dinner for fun and fellowship would be an idea. What I got from my "coach" is that they hate to hear that "we" are excluding ourselves from something that would normally be a joyful, family experience. I will have surgery on the 14th so will still be on liquids at Christmas. I do not, however intend on that affecting the joy I get from being with my family! Don't sell yourself short!!
  19. So great to hear the success stories! I have gotten that the first few days are rough, but "keeping your eyes on the prize" has helped. This forum is great because it addresses some of the questions, concerns, fears, and victories (better) that we are all facing soon

    Dates here!

My date is December 14th! I will start on my liquid diet Dec. 1st. Went to my support group meeting last Saturday, and we talked a lot about how we are going to handle the holidays! I will still be able to have Thanksgiving (scaled back, of course) but will still be on liquids for Christmas. Anyone have clever strategies for getting through?

    whose ready?!

I finished all of my pre-op testing yesterday!! I, too, am looking forward to Thanksgiving as kind of the last hurrah! I will start the liquid diet December 1st, and surgery will be the 14th! I know I will be nervous the closer it gets, but right now, I am just excited! Yes, Christmas will be a little different this year, but that is okay!
  24. Mine is scheduled for December 14th! Finally done with all my clearances and now just playing the waiting game!
  25. The dr. set my date yesterday for December 14th! I am nervous and excited to have gotten this far! Any advice or words of wisdom to get through the next few weeks?
