    Sleeve to Bypass & hungry?

I'm seeing my surgeon next week and expecting him to recommend revision to bypass for my weight gain and Gerd. I'm concerned about the hunger some of you are describing, but I'm really concerned about not feeling the restriction. Does that feeling go away after the bypass revision? 3. This is so encouraging to hear! I'm in almost the exact same place. I'd lost the weight and kept it off for years after my sleeve, then new relationship, Covid, blah, blah. The GERD was already out of control and now the gain has got me thinking about revision. I'm researching Bypass vs Switch debating what's best. Just had to cancel my appt with my surgeon when I got Covid, now going to get this going in the next few months. I'm glad to hear it's going well for you. But the pain makes me nervous. I had considerable after my sleeve!
  4. I saw several surgeons and was given a very broad assortment of prices for the tummy tuck part. I finally found a surgeon who was willing to do a mini tuck at no cost and only bill the insurance for the panniculectomy. Works for me! She was wonderful! I'm two weeks out of surgery and still healing, but so far extremely happy with the results. Look around and find a surgeon that you are comfortable with. No regrets!

    Hair Loss

Cheryl, we are in the same boat! Same height, weight, and surgery date! My hair loss just started a few days ago and it's freaking me out. When I hated my body I at least loved my hair, and now I'm losing it! Doc says protein is the key and I've been bad about that lately. If you find the miracle cure for this, please share it, but it seems like this is a wait and see thing and we just have to ride this out.

    Alcohol

My doctor said not to try it for 6 months. And when I do try it to have a driver with me to get me home! lol Remember though, it's empty calories anyway!

    Vitamin/protein gummies when?

My nutritionist said gummies are not allowed because the body doesn't absorb the nutrients as well. She suggests chewable only. I use BariMelts. I order them from Amazon and they are tolerable. The Calcium and Biotin are actually very tasty, but I'm hoping to get cleared to switch to a pill at my 3 month post op.
  8. Wait...you had salad? I'm so jealous! I've been craving salad like crazy, but I can't tolerate it. I made the mistake of trying a few bites of lettuce about 8-9 weeks out and that was a hard no. Now I'm afraid to try again. I can tolerate most other things well. Anyone know how long before I should try again?
  9. This is the best thread! I've 5'. I started at 211 and was 178 when I had my surgery in Dec. I swelled up like a balloon after surgery and gained 16lbs from the fluids and swelling. I'm working my ass off in the gym (literally) and sticking to my diet. I'm getting there! It's good to have a group of people who get it. We have fewer total pounds to lose so it comes off slower, but that doesn't make us less deserving of celebrating our triumphs!
  10. I thought I had joined this group, but apparently didn't do it correctly! Can you send me an invite? My surgery date was Dec. 19. Thank you!
  11. @@CocoNina 25 pounds including my liquid phase. 40 overall. Don't expect the massive, rapid loss you sometimes see people have here. I did and it was just frustrating me. We are different. I find myself getting down because I'm only losing 1-2 pounds a week, but then I realize...hey, wait, I'm halfway to goal 6 weeks out! And the difference in how I feel is AMAZING! Be patient with your body throughout your journey and know that if you are following the rules, you will be successful 100% of the time. Oh, and, yes, losing those hunger hormones is the best perk ever!
  12. Your pre-surgery height and weight are almost identical to mine! I had my surgery Dec 19. I can tell you that the first 3-4 days were the worst for me. Part of it is head hunger and part of it is detoxing from all the sugar and garbage we are used to eating. Once I made it past that, I honestly felt great! I was worried about being tired and concentrating at work, but I ended up feeling better and more energized than ever. Keep up the protein. It helps with the hunger. Keep your eye on the prize and I promise it gets easier. By the time you get to the hospital, you will be ready and already getting thinner!
  13. I'm 6 weeks out and experiencing the same thing. I'm afraid of taking Miralax and going to work! I found that adding a Fiber supplement to my shake in the morning seems to help. I use one called super fiber that I get from GNC. It also has Probiotics in it, so that can't hurt Sent from my LG-H810 using the BariatricPal App
  14. I have a non-scale victory to share that some of you may be familiar with. I'm off my Detrol! For those who don't know what that means, it means I can laugh and sneeze without peeing my pants! LOL. It's amazing how a few pounds lost can make a difference with this problem. I've had issues for years, and finally can go in public without fear of needing extra pants. Woohoo! 15. That was the final straw for me too! Of the serious comorbidities I had, peeing myself was the biggest thing that sent me into surgery. It works! Congratulations on your decision!

    Alcohol?

This is crazy because I'm not much of a drinker. A few times a year maybe. Maybe it's the football playoffs, but I can't wait to have a beer. How long are we supposed to wait? I don't see my doctor for a while and I'm too embarrassed to call and ask. Sent from my LG-H810 using the BariatricPal App

    Alcohol?

I didn't think about the carbonation! Glad I asked about that. I was just curious about how long we have to wait. I'm not planning on rushing out to the bar anytime soon!

    Crying on the bathroom floor

This is an encouraging thread. I'm almost at one month out and I've only lost two pounds since my surgery. I'm hitting all my goals for Water and Protein. Only eating what I should. Walking. And that's it. Keep the faith, girl. Not everyone has that incredible fast loss out of the gate. We'll get there too! Sent from my LG-H810 using the BariatricPal App
  20. Stalls break. Just not as fast as we want them to. Remember, you are eating fewer calories than you are burning. That's the equation for loss. Your body just needs to adjust. Try making a change in the foods you are eating or the way you are exercising. That's supposed to help. In the meantime, take your measurements. That should give you the satisfaction you need.
  21. That's a great loss already! I went back to work 1/3 after being sleeved the 19th. I'm a teacher, so I'm on my feet a good bit, but it wasn't bad. The hardest part was getting my Water in. It's harder when you're not just sitting around! Sent from my LG-H810 using the BariatricPal App
  22. I think we join just by commenting and following, right? Anyway, welcome eclecticavatar. I'm 12/19 too. How are you feeling?
  23. @@ambernoel I guess we just need to accept the fact that our bodies are all different, and as long as we are going in the right direction, speed does not matter. We'll get there too! On a positive note...I finally lost my first pound this week! Let's remember, this is a journey, not a race.
  24. I need help. I'm 3 weeks out, following everything I'm supposed to do, and I'm still up a pound from my pre-surgery weight. I lost 13 pounds in 10 days following the pre-op diet and now that I've had the surgery, nothing. Has anyone else had this experience? I'm so frustrated. I started my journey at 211 last April. Got down to 191 before starting the pre-op, then down to 178 day of surgery. I gained 16 pounds of Water and swelling in the hospital. I've lost that weight and now I'm just sitting here. I keep reading about everyone losing so much weight the first month and it's frustrating. I know the first 6 months are the "golden period" for losing weight and that's when we really need to put in the effort and I feel like I'm missing it somehow. Can anyone out there commiserate with my situation?
  25. That's a good point, dodlbug. I guess we should at least take some solace in the fact that we are not alone in our frustration. Misery loves company, right? It has to start sooner or later. I'm trying to stay away from the scale, but it's hard. We can be the tortoise to everyone else's hare. And we know who won that race!
