Do you tell your friends or not?
Lema...she already does make comments about my healthy choices and also the fact that I never eat a full meal..I've decided not to tell her before the surgery and maybe not even after the surgery. I told my best guy friend today and got the..you don't need it..why?..just don't eat as much and exercise more… really? Huh.. wish I had tried that before like the 1000 and 1 time might have done the trick..lol well so much for getting a lot of support from friends and even my family has just been so so with support and understanding. I guess I hope to get my support here if I can't get it from the people in my life.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My journey into VSG world
So, I am new here and mid ways in my approval process and still working hard on getting my approval for VSG..my entire packet is almost together..all the tests ran, the 6 month medical weight loss attempt from last year included..My Dr support letter for surgery since my BMI is not high enough, but since I have diabetes I still qualify..then now this road block..ugh..why is there always a road block? Lol So..because of past compulsive eating habits, I've had to jump through the therapy hoop, but know what? I'm good with it. I probably needed therapy years ago for my food addiction. I want to have all the ammunition I can get to kick my food addiction in the butt! I honestly eat the right stuff 95% of the time..I exercise at the gym and walk 10,000-15,000 steps a day..but being in my 40s my weight won't budge and I know my portion size is way too big, plus that 95% should be 100% most days, but I honestly have nothing that tells me to stop eating.. That's why I think the surgery will work wonders for me. I hope to continue to address the head hunger more even after surgery because I know that's the true struggle for people with food addictions. So that's where I am..the beginning of my journey..pray that I get approved and can come back on here in months and show those awesome before and after pictures I see so many of you posting. What a great site this is..everyone is so sweet and supportive. I ❤️❤️❤️!!!! BTW, I've read two great books, because I'm the 'gotta research and read everything you can about it', kind of gal. Lol If you haven't had the surgery yet, here are the books. I found them so insightful. One is from a Dr. View point and the other from a patient to patient view. Foods
pizza is a big one for me..I've modified my taste and make a low carb pizza since I'm doing low carb right now before surgery. I hope to have it on occasion after surgery as well, but they do drill it into you about lean Protein first then veggies..none of which is pizza..so I think a treat on rare occasion should be fine. Do you tell your friends or not?
I've been on a health kick for a couple of years..gym and walking/jogging too..but very little weight loss..because I love cooking and I love food..this friend who I've known for 23 years always tried to sabotage any success Ive had and has absolutely been my go out and pig out buddy which is why I know she wouldn't be supportive and would be afraid to lose me in that aspect. Luckily my family is supportive and I also have a coworker that just had the surgery so I think we'll be great support system for each other but I think this friendship will suffer because I just won't want to go out with her anymore to eat. Do you tell your friends or not?
So I've told my family that I am planning the VSG, but I have not told my friends. My best friend is my dinner buddy..always asking me to go out to eat. As you can imagine she is overweight as well. She had another friend do the surgery and she blasted her to me..how she thought it was ridiculous to do the surgery and what's wrong with being chunky..well I have decided not to tell her because I know she would not be supportive and would possibly try to sabotage my journey..but what do I do after the surgery to not go out to dinner with her when I always had in the past? You can't fake eat and drink..lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Nicotine test
My surgeon said no nicotine at all..including gum or patch..I gradually decreased my nicotine while vaping and smoke 0 mg now. My surgeon is fine with vaping with no nicotine and it mentally works for me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Mistake? VSG
I am in the process of trying to get approved for VSG..I fight back and forth with wondering if it's right for me as well. I mostly think it's the part of me that's afraid to change that fights the thought of surgery. I'm pushing forward past those thoughts and trusting the other thoughts that say do it for you..I want to be healthy and be the best me I can be..surgery is the tool to help me accomplish it. Having a hard time quitting smoking
Vaping has been my go to..knowing how nicotine can really have a negative effect on a sleeve after surgery..I slowly went down to 0 nicotine but still vaping, and my surgeon is fine with it. I find it funny that it's more of a mental habit than the nicotine itself. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
