  1. Well my advice is to take what you learned the first time around and use it. I feel like my recovery from rny was easier than the band because I knew what to expect. I knew the gas was the worst thing about post op...so by evening of my surgery I was up walking, walking walking I was in the clinic for two days but was asking to be released after one because I was feeling better! At home I walked. I knew warm water goes in when cold does not work. I knew to take my Prevacid. I knew to get my fluid and protein in first and I have been rigidly sticking to plan. And not trying to uneccsarily restrict calories. Rny gives a metabolic reset so I am not going to destroy this new baby metabolism with crash diets like I did the last one. I have observed that many of the vets who lost weight on really restrictive calories guess what..they also have to maintain on really restrictive calories. I know other vets who focused on healthy foods like protein lots of vegetables, healthy fruits, complex carbs if you have room etc.,, they are able to maintain on 1400-1700 a day. That's who's plan I'm following. Now that I have had a malabsorbtive surgery I really have had a mindset change to eating what my body needs, as opposed to eating for entertainment. I don't eat processed food. My filter always is "does this offer me the most nutrition?" I tried to get my calories to 800 as soon as possible (by 2 months). Then to 900 (by 3 months). At six months I'm now between 1050-1100. Still losing...slightly slower but who cares...I'm in this for the long term not the short term.. this one I want to be forever. This is what worked for me. It isn't the only way, of course. But it changed my life. Sorry for the long winded answer.
  2. Normally I tell people to ignore the stall because they are normal and expected. But if it has truly been two weeks I would up calories to 900 min...(I lose best between 900-1000). Also track your water. I am at 100oz a day. I have no doubt about water not being my issue. if you make a change, just make one or two small changes and stick it out. Most people make the mistake of making changes every few days and not letting the body adjust. This is my last month, I usually stall twice a month for up to 8 days...
  3. Thanks. I had rny revision from lapband.
  4. Pretty happy with my progress. Was hoping for 90 down today by today, but hit 88.2. so almost there. Revising my goal down now. Hit overweight last month! People le who haven't seen me in a year aren't recognizing me. So here is that...
  5. Yep, that is why doctors don't target weights so low. It would put me at 120. At 140 my collar bone sticks out and I get skinny arms. Can't imagine how emaciated I would look at 120
  6. congrats! Spreadsheet included...https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pY2uqIkkGZkK7fO6ytHxw8Vf0_TyfYNd255baojilZc
  7. Could be doable..not advisable, but Doable. I went apple picking 5 days post op and then cooked thanksgiving dinner. Was fine to do both, able to take rests, breaks. And mad my hubby carry the heavy bags. No I'll effects. Would I have gone skiing? Nope, probably not

  9. If you like dr. W. You might want to try and frin dr. Duc Vuong videos. He's another one I like...similar philosophies. He has a cookbook too
  10. 3lbs/ week is NOT slow, it is fast. I'd kill for that right now. Weight loss happens in drips and drabs...not in a straight line.
  11. My favorite invention is the fabric tape that you iron on. I order it from amazon by the bucketful. I use it to hem pants (I cut off the extra foot then fold and iron the hem and done)! I also use it with button down shirts so I don't get the boob gap. Love that stuff!
  12. Intially was thinking sleeve as well, switched on surgeons advice to bypass. Really happy I did. Mine was a revision from a lap band, I would have been devastated risking yet another revision.
  13. 180.2...https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pY2uqIkkGZkK7fO6ytHxw8Vf0_TyfYNd255baojilZc
  14. I'm tossing around getting a second reduction after all is said and done. I had my first when I was 16 and I'm still a ddd...am hoping my boobs will magically shrink with my weightloss, but no such luck so far.

  16. if you want to thicken it up add a little chia seed they will absorb some of the liquid...I use vanilla Premier Protein. and sometime will add an extra tablespoon of the premier vanilla powder as well. that helps thicken it a bit too. My current recipe is 2tbs oats, 1/2 tbs chia, 1tbs of premier powder, 1/2 premade premier protein some cinnamon and apple
  17. Down to 184.4, which was a big drop this week. I feel a gain/stall coming on.New Years Challenge
  18. Actually slippage isn't mentioned in the 2013 study...these were the complications and rates..... "A high number of revision procedures were performed-proximal pouch enlargement (26%), erosion (3.4%), and port and tubing problems (21%)." Happy you are happy and I hope you stay in the 50% with no issues. I never had a slip. I had irritation, reflux and then eventually device broke. I lost as well and I felt great as well for the first 3 years. The point of my post is for people to know that if it does go bad...don't put your head in the sand. Do something...
  19. You can disagree but his percentages are based on real studies not people's feelings. Even the most positive band study that recommended the band as a viable option had a 50% complication rate. Hopefully you'll be in the 50% with no issues and you will have a very good malpractice case if you are not because surgeons are well aware of this data now. Make sure you hang onto any data and information your doctor gave you about the band...just in case.
  20. I hope you are doing better now. And things have improved. My recommendation is that if your band is causing issues definitely get a defil. Don't try and live with pain and or issues for an extended period. Two of my friends just found out this week that they can't have revisions because of the irreparable damage the band caused. One found out before her band removal that she has irreparable esophagus damage and the other had her band removed a year ago and when they went to do her rny they had to close her back up...there was so much adhesion and scar tissue they couldn't even find her stomach. On another board a woman shared that she had been vomiting blood for months does is just now seing a doctor about it. my rny was smooth sailing and I suspect it may have been because of my being defilled As long as I was. it minimized the damage. We are our own best advocates my recommendation is as soon as someone has issue, get it checked out!
  21. Just a stall it happens, sometimes you just need to wait them out. I've had many as you can see. Did nothing to try and move them other that wait.
  22. Yep, I fully expect to have rocks in socks at the end of this. but ambivalent on whether I'll do anything about it. So far i have lost nothing in my boobs. but I mean it is going to have to come off there at some point right? Im at a 32 BMI right now. To be honest they are the biggest impediment to me fitting into my smaller clothes. I have about 4-5 inches to lose in the chest/back to get into my size 10 dresses. They fit everywhere else, so maybe the next 15 will come off of my chest/back
