  3. I asked the same question to my surgeon as well. He's performed over 3000 with 6 deaths; three from heart attacks. I want my husband to come to one of the support groups with me and see if that would help ease some of his fears i guess. He wants me to wait a year, but i just cant each time i go back to the doctors i get scared that something else might be wrong with my health. I'm really to take charge of my life, he's just gotta fall in line lol
  4. So my first consult with the surgeon was this past friday . I am so excited for whats to come. While we did discuss the different types and the benefits of each surgery; I feel as though he was trying to push me to have RNY instead of VSG. But he said as long as I don't have severe reflux getting the sleeve should be okay. I was discussing the surgery with my husband again and he has some concerns with getting a part of my stomach removed. He was very supportive in the beginning but now he doesn't want me to do it, he says its too much of a risk

  17. That's pretty interesting that the brain reverts back after a one year study, but I don't think the study was conducted in that long of a time to really conclude anything. What type of WLS was it? where the participants mixed like sleeve, RNY, Gastric Pilation, Lap-Band? Yes many ppl do unfortunately gain weight after surgery. I think it might boil down to maintaining your diet, Vitamin intake, finding support, and following up with a nutritionist and psychologist. Especially a psychologist because you will be surprised as too how much we eat being tied to our emotions, well at least for me
  18. I have a fitbit charge HR and I love it. I use it to track my my steps, caloric and fluid intake.

  21. I'm in the same situation as you. I chose to tell my sisters, my husband and my best friend; my twin sister makes really snide comments. I finally told her she has no clue as to whats going on with me health wise because she cant relate. She has a normal BMI and from what I know no known health issues. She doesn't understand or can't fathom the struggles of someone morbidly obese cause she has never had to walk in our shoes, see our abnormal test results or witness our health fears. To me that goes for everyone who doesn't understand why we chose this journey. We are striving to see a better health outcome for ourselves.
  22. I have tricare standard I was wondering do you first have to get a referral from you PCM? Also how do you provide your documentation for your unsuccessful weight loss attempts I had kaiser before Tricare do I just send them my Medical record from Kaiser? I discussed it with my Tricare PCM so she has it on file is that good enough?
  23. I get this a lot from my sisters and even my husband. I might not look it but health wise I feel it Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
