    Fatigue

I had a similar experience a few months after my rny. My program said I should stop protein shakes one month after surgery because they wanted us to get protein from food sources. I was also feeling very tired and having no energy 3-4 months out, and once I added the protein shakes back into my routine, I started feeling better. Good luck!

    Post your progress pics

I love all the comparison pics!! Everyone looks fantastic!!
  3. You do not have to disclose the type of surgery you're having and you are under no obligation to tell your boss anything specific. I told very few people what I was having done when I went out for my surgery, and just said I was having a procedure and it was personal. You only need to share what you're comfortable with. I also had no problem with using my short term disability and fmla. Good luck!

    What is the recovery time?

I was off 6 weeks, but I have a very active job as a nurse. I probably could've gone back at the 4 week mark, but I was glad I had that extra recovery time and time to adjust to the new eating routine
  5. Great reminder! Hope you're feeling better soon!

    Return to work

I took off 6 weeks and I'm glad I did. I probably could've gone back after 4 weeks but used the extra time to get used to my new eating routine and get some energy back. I was also eligible for fmla and short term disability, so I took advantage of that Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Is this normal?

I also felt very tired and had no energy the first few weeks after surgery. I think that part is normal... but you should report any other neurological symptoms to your doctor. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    How Does It Work?

I had my surgery 8/16/16 and still haven't truly been "hungry". I eat small portions and had to learn to listen to my body's cues to know when my new stomach has had enough. One bite too many makes me very sick and I want to avoid that at all costs. It's been a great tool for me and I'm very happy with my decision. Best of luck with your surgery! RNY done Dec 28 I have a ?

I am 5 months post op now. I had to sip Water all day for a minimum of 48 ozs, as well as 8 oz Protein shakes (split into 2 oz portions) and full liquid meals that were 2 ozs each. I suggest just keep sipping your liquids throughout the day Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    3rd day post op

Congrats on your surgery. I had to take small sips of Water throughout the day to get the minimum that my doctor recommended. As for the food, I had to take it slow and relearn the cues my body was giving me to tell me I had enough. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    HAIRLOSS NIGHTMARE

I had my rny 8/16/16 and have noticed I've been pulling out more hair after showering for the past month or so. Im definitely going to try the Biotin supplements and see if that helps. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    For the ladies...

I got mine 2 days before surgery. I was so worried about it when I got to my room after surgery. The nursing staff gave me a pair of disposable undies and helped me fish my catheter thru for the first day, and the catheter was taken out early the next morning. The hospital staff deal with this all the time and will help make sure you're comfortable Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Regretting

It does get better. Remember you had major surgery and it's a huge adjustment to the way you used to eat and drink. Focus on getting in your Water and Protein shakes for now. Hang in there!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  19. Your requirements should all transfer over into a new practice, but there may be additional ones depending on the surgeons practice and your insurance. Is there a bariatric program coordinator in this office that can help you get an appt with one of the surgeons. There are many good programs in the Baltimore area (I'm also from MD and had my surgery in Harford county). Good luck!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
