  1. I need to buy a blender before surgery. Do you have a blender that you really like? If so, what one do you recommend? Thanks!
  2. Yes, I gained weight during the 6 months of nutrition classes. My insurance company doesn't require a certain amount of weight loss. My surgeon recommends losing 5-10 pounds before surgery. I imagine most of that will also come off during the pre-op diet.
  3. Delaware sleever here! I'm pre-op and hope to submit for insurance approval by the end of the month or first week of March. I could definitely use a buddy myself. Where are you in the process right now?
  4. This is definitely a real concern and something some people don't think about. Honestly, I only really know two people out of about 5-6 who have kept their weight off years later. The lifestyle change has to be a lifetime commitment. I do wonder if some of it is genetics. I have never asked them about it though since it's such a sensitive topic.
  5. I do, but I haven't submitted for approval yet.
  6. That's great news @hopekate! Now I'm curious about me too. Not that it matters since I just finished the full 6 months last week.
  7. I'm sorry to hear there's so much paperwork for you to complete for your job. Thankfully, I don't have to complete any paperwork for my job - just the standard sick leave request. My boss knows I'm having surgery and is very supportive. One thing that has been overwhelming over the past several months is the stress of all the appointments. It's a lot to keep straight!
  8. Please keep us posted on what you find out this morning! Thanks!
  9. That's a long time to wait for your cpap machine. I, too, found out that I have sleep apnea. I've had my cpap machine for a few weeks now. Hopefully you will get your machine soon!!!!
  10. Agreed! This is a great list of things to work on in the meantime!
  11. Really?!?! I have Highmark PPO. Does it depend on the state? I know Highmark is in PA and DE. I just finished my 6 months of nutrition classes so it wouldn't matter anyway, but still curious.
  12. I'm so happy to report that I had the last of my 6-month nutrition classes this morning! At times it felt like the longest six months. I wasn't a huge fan of the classes (mostly the other people in them). I did learn some new things along the way, which was good. Now all I have left is to get my pulmonary clearance (appointment scheduled later this month) and complete a visit with the dietitian at the surgeon's office (appointment next week). Things feel like they're finally moving along!
  13. Welcome! I just joined the site in the fall. There are lots of great resources and supportive people on the site. Best wishes on your weight loss journey!
  14. Just set a friend request on MFP!
  15. I was hoping to be a march sleever, but I likely won't get sleeved until April. My last nutrition visit is in a few weeks. I'm getting so excited!
  16. I haven't had surgery yet, but I'm planning to take a week off. A family member had the sleeve and went back to work in a week. We both have desk jobs. Good luck with everything!
  17. I'm still pre-op, but I have a family member who went through the gastric sleeve. She had a hard time staying on the pre-op diet but still did ok with the surgery. It will be fine. Just dust yourself off and leave the guilt behind. Best wishes on your surgery next week!
  18. There seems to be a Dover, DE sleevers thread that hasn't been very active. So, I was wondering if there are other Delaware sleevers in the northern part of the state (New Castle County) area preparing for surgery this spring.
  19. That's a great way of thinking about it Mochamommy!
  20. Insurance requirements can feel so defeating at times. Like you, I found out that I needed 6 consecutive months of nutrition visits. It's like seriously?! That being said, the time goes really fast. I have my fifth visit this month. I can't believe the final visit is in a month. It sounds like if you start now you could have your surgery by the end of summer, which is great! Best of luck on your journey!
  21. I agree! I'm over 400 and finding it difficult too. Best wishes on your surgery this month! Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
  22. Only one? Probably not feeling out of place all the time.
  23. That's exactly how I felt when I went to a seminar this summer. Best of luck with everything!
  24. I'm always curious. What kinds of questions do they ask in the psych eval?
