Day 3 of Pre-Op Diet
I said that about my dog's food too! Even watching him eat kibble was making me hungry. LOL!

Day 3 of Pre-Op Diet
I'm on day 3 of the pre-op diet and my stomach keeps rumbling! I know it will get better each day, but it's already certainly more difficult than I anticipated. The only good thing about my pre-op diet is that I get to have real food at dinner time (3-6 oz of lean Protein and 1 cup of non-starchy vegetables). Otherwise it's Water and Protein shakes.

Awaiting sleep apnea results [emoji51]
That was my experience. Had to do the at-home study before insurance would pay for the study in the lab.

Pre-Anesthesia Appointment
I have my pre-anesthesia appointment tomorrow. Does anyone know what typically happens at that appointment? I have a few questions to ask, but was just curious what others' experiences have been.

Post surgery questions
I'm scheduled for surgery on April 11th too! I am taking 2 weeks off work. I also have a desk job. I thought about taking only a week, but I figured I might as well take the time since I have it.

Timeline
I meant to also say don't be nervous. The office coordinator will make sure you have all of the right documentation before submitting. I was nervous too about being approved...looking back, it was such a waste of stress since the approval happened so quickly once I met all the requirements.

Timeline
It was four weeks out, but that date didn't work for me since I have a work commitment. They offered a date the following week, which still didn't work due to my job. So it was about 7 weeks out, but not because of their schedule - it was all mine! I'm using Dr. Schweitzer. I really liked his bio and in person he was very nice. I met with a surgeon at a different practice originally, which is how I ended up changing practices and going to Hopkins.

To Tell or Not To Tell - That is the Question
As others have said, it's really a personal decision on who to tell and when, if ever. I've told pretty much all of my friends and my supervisor. I went through a pretty significant weight loss before on Weight Watchers (lost 170 pounds), and everyone assumed I had weight loss surgery. I've since gained it all back and then some. Since I've had a drastic weight loss before and I didn't mind sharing with others. Everyone I've told has been extremely supportive! This is all to say, if you're going to tell anyone I would just make sure that they're people who you know you can count on to be supportive if your new lifestyle.

Finally...my sleeve date 4/20!
Yippeee!!! I'm set for April 11th. I feel like the time between approval and the actual surgery date feels like an eternity.

Timeline
I'm also going through Johns Hopkins! Who is your surgeon? Once all of my paperwork/clearances were complete the office submitted to my insurance right away. I have a different insurance company, but insurance approval took 1 day. The office contacted me immediately upon receiving approval with a surgery date. Hope that helps!

20 Days until I'm sleeved
I'm excited and feeling impatient! Surgery is April 11. I started this process in July 2016. You're almost there...only 20 days away!

20 Days until I'm sleeved
I'm having a countdown too! Not sure why these last remaining weeks seem to be going to slow!

Anyone else have March 29th surgery date r in Delaware?
I just found this thread and was curious to know how everyone is doing a year later! I did my nutrition classes and psych clearance through the Christiana Weight Management Program, but I'm not having my surgery at CHRIAS.

TMI Question for the Ladies
I have my surgery date and by my calculations, it will likely be "that time of the month." It's making me nervous. Did anyone experience this at the time of their surgery? I have my final pre-op appointment with the doctor in a couple of weeks and plan on bringing it up, but I don't wan to sound silly.

April sleevers!?
I'm getting sleeved on April 11th! Can't wait!!!!

Got my clearance!!!!
YAAAAY!!! Glad you're feeling better!

What to tell my boss
You don't have to give your boss specifics. I think a lot of it depends on the relationship you have. I went ahead and told my boss because I needed to take off work so much for pre-op doctor's appointments. I'm glad I was upfront about it. She told me that a family member had WLS and how it completely changed her life for the better. So now my boss is one of my biggest supporters. She's incredibly happy for me and this journey I'm on.

Bariatric Buddy!
Hi! I'm scheduled for April 11th.

APPROVED and Got My Surgery Date!!!!!
I got an e-mail this morning saying that I was approved for VSG!!!! The approval only took 2 days. I'm on cloud 9! Surgery date is set for Tuesday, April 11. They asked if I could do on March 21, but I couldn't because of a work commitment.
-
Have You Always Had a Weight Problem?
I'm just curious for those seeking the VSG. Have you always had a weight problem or has this been something you developed in adulthood? I've been obese since childhood and lost a significant amount of weight (170 pounds) using Weight Watchers about five years ago, but gained it back and then some. Keeping weight off is definitely a challenge!

Date before insurance approval
I know someone who got a date before insurance approval. I think it really just depends on the surgeon.
-
People don't get it!
I agree with others. Some people just don't understand. I think one of the things throughout this process is that you learn who you can talk to about this stuff and who you can't. I'm sorry that you had that experience with your co-worker Keep doing what is right for you!!!
