  1. Ok, so today was day 16 post surgery and I feel great. No problems at all. My only concern is that I lost about 10 pounds in the first 7 days and have only lost 1 pound in the 9 days since. Did this happen to anyone else? I know about embracing the stall and everything, but this was quick! I'm getting my Protein.....could probably get a bit more Water in, and I feel great. Clothes do fit noticeably different, so definitely good there. Just need to trigger some weight loss. Lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Had my sleeve done yesterday

Thats great! I'm kind of annoyed right now. I'm only two weeks since surgery and am already stalled for nearly a week. Ive lost 11 pounds since surgery, but only 1 pound in the last week. I'm just kinda rolling with it for now, but it's annoying! Lol Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  4. Hi folks. I am 5 days out from surgery and am browsing the discussion topics on the forum. One thing I am curious about is the experience people who had type II diabetes before the surgery have after the surgery. Did you come off all your meds? How are your sugars now, etc? I took oral meds for my type II before surgery and have not taken them since surgery and my sugar numbers are generally good, staying under 140, but today I had one that was 228. I know those may not be horrible to some people, but its just something I am interested in hearing what others experienced. Thanks!
  5. Great update! I'm glad things are getting better. For what it's worth, today was day 6 for me and I had virtually no pain at all. Not even from the incision. Walked quite a bit today. Things turn a big corner right around the 5-6 day mark. Hopefully you experience the same! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Type II Diabetes After Surgery

Good for you! I'm one week post op and am off my medicine. My sugars seems pretty good. I wanted to check what others experienced a bit further out when they started back to eating normal food. Good luck on your surgery. The forums are great for knowing what to expect. Keep us posted! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I think everyone has those "am I doing the right thing" feelings before surgery, but if you sit and listen to yourself you will know the answer. I was nervous before surgery and most people are. I remember sitting in the pre-op area and it was about 90 minutes before my scheduled surgery time. My surgeon came in to see me and he said "we are ahead of schedule this morning and we should be going in about 20 minutes." THAT was when I got really nervous. I just had to take some deep breaths and relax. Everything went great.

    gas pain

I'm surprised you aren't allowed Protein shakes. I guess it depends on the Doctor. My doctor told me to make sure I get the protein in with shakes. That's primarily what I am using as food the first week. I can have just about any juice and drink I want for Fluid, but they recommend mostly Water, and shakes and clear Protein drinks like Lift or Isopure. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Good for you! My surgery was 5 days ago and I feel really good. At this point the only "pain" I have is from the one larger incision site in the middle of my abdomen. Maybe an occasional muscle pain, but otherwise the pain and discomfort you have now gets more comfortable in just a few days. Try getting as much of your fluid and protein in as you can. It will be a challenge to hit the numbers they told you! Keep us posted on your progress!

I take Centrum men's chewables. I also do a sublingual B-12 tablet every day.

    gas pain

My surgery was 8/29 too. I had gas pain for about 3 days. Moving around, walking and time is the only thing that really helps. Five days out and I feel pretty good!
  13. I am 2 days away from surgery (8/29/16) and I am starting to get nervous. I feel like I am ready. I have plenty of the protein drink I like to get me through the time before solid food again. I am curious about that first post-op week. It is what my nerves are focusing on right now.
  14. Thanks redsox06. I'm 3 days out right now and feel pretty good. I am having trouble getting the amount of liquid down that I need but I heard that gets better. The pain is tolerable and I'm not taking the pain meds all that much anymore. I'm just taking it one day at a time, but things are going well. I know things will be good once the pain goes away and I can take in more Fluid. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  15. Yep. I'm home. Things are going pretty well. Taking it easy with some light walking. The pain has decreased quite a bit. I'm not able to get much Fluid in, but I'm sure that will change. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Jobey, I can definitely relate to feeling hit by a bus. Sheesh. They hit me, did a u-turn and ran me down a second time. The first night was pretty rough but the pain meds helped. I'm home now and figuring out a routine. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. Well, tomorrow is surgery day for me. The pre-op diet hasn't been too terrible, but I have had a bit of headache and am tired. I'm not too nervous right now, but I have a feeling I will be very nervous in the morning. Tonight I am going to get a small bag packed for the overnight hospital stay. I'm confident things are going to go well and I am already looking forward to being back home!
  18. Well, I'm one day post op and am home. Things went well. Now just dealing with the pain. Its not overwhelming. I suspect it will be this way another 2-3 days. I'm happy the surgery part is over. Now I can get settled and concentrate on this next week, one day at a time. Thank you all for the encouraging words! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Alcohol

My surgeon told me the two main reasons for no alcohol is healing in the beginning, and then empty calories after healing. He said an occasional drink is not an issue but you should wait a minimum of 3 months, preferably 6. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Back on pre op diet

I don't even know what the "food version" of the pre op diet would be. What did you eat? The most solid thing I am eating is Jello. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Getting sleeved tomorrow

My surgery is tomorrow, 8/29. I'm glad to hear things went well. I'm a bit nervous and wondering what the first week is typically like. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Had my sleeve done yesterday

Longhorn, your story is great for me to read. My surgery is tomorrow. I'm starting at 240 and want to get down to about 170-175 as well. How did you feel the first week or two after surgery. Did you predominantly use Protein shakes? Do you still drink them? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
