  1. Jessica, it sounds like your SIL needs a lot of support right now. I am sure the stress of so many children and expecting another one is overwhelming. We adopted my cousins kids when she died. They were 12 and 13.....a tough age to lose a mother. Their father was and still is a drug addict. They are 37 and 38 now. I won't lie.....we had trying times. I would have liked to unload them when they started getting in trouble in their late teens, but I just kept going. We are blessed. Adopting children is a special blessing from God. I hope your SIL gets some help over this trying time. I just made some vegetable soup.....that is okay on our plan.....right? It tastes awesome. Being a mexican food nut I just had to add Rotel tomatoes and chilies. Yum! Apples, I know you are enjoying time with "baby boy". I have a "baby boy" that is 35. He is coming over today to leave DGS for a few hours. My other kids tease me .....they say he is my favorite. Not true......but I can't convince them otherwise. Have fun! I hope you have clear weather on your way to Florida. It is 39 right now, so I know it is blowing your way. Oops! turned it on QVC this morning and bought a jacket. I need to block that channel! I hope everyone has a great day!
  2. Happy Birthday Janet!!!!!!!
  3. Mine is walking and sewing. Now, prepping to sew stresses me out, but once I sit behind a sewing machine I just relax. Now, I don't like to make clothes. I like to piece simple quilts. I also like to machine embroider. Julie, I am so sorry you are still suffering. I hope you find some relief. The rain has started........I am sure the cold is on its way. Looks like I will spend this weekend indoors. I don't mind because I have so much reading to do. I might have to make a trip to Carter's. I love buying clothes for my grandbabies especially when Carter's is having a sale. I hope all of you have an awesome weekend! Apples, enjoy the warmth of Florida!
  4. Apples, glad you made it to Atlanta! Enjoy your time with DS. A new front is coming......my body says so.......I think Lori sent it from CO. Take care! Keep in touch! Janet........where are you?
  5. Great, I like to toast a sandwich thin, cut a hole in it.....put an egg in the hole....then cook it in pam. I like it. On second thought.....I think I will scrap that pancake idea. The fitness coach gave me the recipe. I don't like oatmeal, but I love, love , love, oatmeal cookies!
  6. Hi Arlene, how are you doing today? Eva, I am trying to work the Beck Diet, the bible study weight plan, and the weight loss support plan. They are all basically the same. I need all the help I can get. I did stay on track today. I tried a new breakfast...egg whites mixed with oatmeal and make a pancake out of it. So, I tried it with dry oatmeal first.....the pancake was dry....then tried it with cooked oatmeal....a little too mushie. I need to cut back on the egg whites. Oh and I put some sf jelly in it. I am gonna give it another try tomorrow.
  7. Welcome.......jump on the bandwagon with us. I was banded in July 08. I am a slow loser, but I will win this race. Janet started this thread. She is good at keeping us on track. So, ask away!
  8. Apples, I hope you have a safe trip!.......and lots of sunshine!
  9. OH, I am doing The Beck Diet Solution. If you get a chance......get a copy. It is behavior modification......and posting positive affirmations around the house. It is helping me with my snacking.
  10. Well, things aren't moving fast for me either. I went to a weight loss bible study last night. A fitness trainer came and talked to us about our diet.....70-80g of protein a day, less than 60 sugars, and not more than 20% of fat a day. Basically it is the same diet my doctor put me on. So, I am working on it. I wish my wii weights would come in so I can start on resistance training. I am back walking, but he said cardio won't burn the calories like resistance exercise. YA think? By the way, I started drinking EAS Advantage shakes. They are good. 17g of protein. Well, girls, lets keep going. I know we will have victory if we don't give up. Later!
  11. Good Morning! I read my Beck Diet Solution this monring. It said to pick two diet plans.......one to follow.....and one back upl Mine will be High Protein, Low carb.....and counting calories......basically what I have been doing. Apples, I think I would be crazy too having to stay in . I hope you get on the road tomorrow. Well, I better get out and walk. I hope my wii weights come in today. Later!
  12. Janet, I am home. We did not weigh. We have to measure ourselves at home and weigh next week. The personal trainer came tonight and gave us the scoop on nutrition and exercise. Lets see... 70 proteina day, sugar try to stay under 60 a day, and only eat stuff that has less than 20% of fat in it. He said resistance (bands) for 45 minutes and cardio for 30-45 minutes. He said do it about 3-5 times a week. Then he said go eat your favorite food once a week like Mexican. He was just keeping it real. So, I came home and drank a protein shake and fixed an egg. I just have so much to read now. YIKES! I hope I remember it all.
  13. Yep, I like this Beck Solution too, but I won't lie, it is tough. I did not realize how much extra stuff I was eating. I am drinking a protein drink then eating a solid......or that is my plan. Worked for me at breakfast, then I decided to eat tuna for lunch, and Yogurt for dessert. Then this afternoon I had a protein bar and a cup of coffee. I have eaten way over my required protein and way under my usual calories. One day at a time! Okay, off to my weight loss bible study. I hate to weigh in the evening. It is such a downer. Oh well, reality check!
  14. Janet, okay, I read the first day of Beck. I need to go get some index cards. I want to lose weight to feel healthy and not depend on my family when I get old. That is my first affirmation/reminder. plan Breakfast, shake 110 cal, toast 150 cal cream for coffee 20 cal Walked 30 min Lunch chicken 150cal yogurt 80cal Thinking positive today! I will let you know tomorrow how it goes. I start my weight loss support at church tonight. We are reading Battlefield for the Mind. I think it is similar to the Beck thing only scriptures. Should help me too. The fitness coaches are coming to give us a talk on nutrition and exercise. I hope all of you have a prosperous day!
  15. Beautiful Scarves! I love embroidery, crochet, and quilting. I am more of a dabbler than anything. My favorite is filet crocheting names for people to frame. Have a great day!
  16. Kimaly, I hope you have a great Birthday!
  17. Not, rude........just being REAL. We have to protect our journey......no one else will do it for us. Why do you think we got in this shape?
  18. Lori, I guess I said it wrong. She thinks Tx30 is a lot colder than CO 30 because we have so much humidity on the Gulf Coast. I started reading Beck Diet. I want to finish the first few chapters so I can actually start it tomorrow. I think it is going to be helpful.
  19. Melissa, have a safe trip! Again congrats on your new promotion!
  20. My body hears ya! The dampness in Tx makes up for the super cold. My DH wants to check into moving to Belize. I will go there for the winter, but I am NOT leaving my grandkids!
  21. Congrats! You are moving at a nice clip. That Pro Joe is sold by Bariatric Advantage. I am not going to buy it because i don't like cold coffee. I wish I could find a protein drink that doesn't have that vitamin after taste. I can doctor up the shakes I make, but the pre packaged just are kind of yuck to me. Got any ideas? Happy Birthday Kimaly tomorrow!:cursing::thumbup::scared2::thumbup:
  22. Okay, Apples, take that back about a quick front. I got outside and it is still blowing in. I am hurting all over, but still , not as bad as before medication. I am grateful for drugs that help. Apples, I have decided that when we retire I am coming to MN for a summer. I want some of your home cooking! Lori, I bet it is cold there. We have a young couple from the church planning to move to Denver. They went up there last week and said it was 30degrees, but not as cold as they thought it would be. Janet , I took QVC off of my toolbar so I wouldn't be checking the "today specials". I just have to check it out today. Can't help it.....I am a QVC junkie. I better get to reading the Beck Diet, maybe it will help me with QVC too! Phyl.....awesome pics! Okay, gang, gotta get my chores done for the day. Oh Eva, take that fill slow and easy. To all on the thread.......Have a great week!
  23. I know you haven't be online - but Charlene - Me & Eva are reading the Beck Solution - It's cognitive therapy for our issues with food - Maybe you should tell her that you got the book for you and you are getting her one as you find it helpful.. Janet, are you talking about my friend? Anyway, I am starting it today. If there is anyone who has issues with food it is me. I haven't transfered them yet. Last night, I ate a filet Mignon, carrots, and a few grilled potato quarters........no getting stuck. I was still hungry. I need a tweak! So, until the 18th I will Journal, and tried to stay with protein. I think this off and on tightening has something to do with my adhesions. Laura, sorry about your throat. I had my tonsils out when I was two and my kids had theirs out when they were three. We had serious strep problems. I hope you are better real soon. I loved the pic of you and Nels with your dad. Still praying for your dad. Julie, and all of you northerners.......stay in and off the roads! Apples I think that front will move through fast so you will be able to leave. It came through here last night in about an hour. Off to church. We have a lot of baptisms this morning and I am the towel girl. lol.......somebody has to do it.
  24. Janet, I know how you feel. If I was twenty years younger I would adopt one of the Haitian orphans. We just need to pray that young families will be called by God to fill the need. I have donated for years to World Vision. I think I may be on the third child I am sponsoring. It just gives me peace to know I am helping somewhere in this world. We need to not forget what happened in Haiti. They will need us for years to come. Maybe this time we can help them start over and become a thriving country.
