  1. So! Yesterday I submitted a formal request to HR asking them to either cover my procedure or at least allow me to purchase a rider to our insurance policy so I can get it done. We have BCBS of FL (we live/work in NC) and BCBS covers it but there's an exclusion in our policy. Funny (not really) thing, we are in the clinical trials industry which means, we're working to make people healthier. I'm praying for a miracle in that they'll cover it, otherwise I will get a loan and pay for it. I'm tired of not living the life I was meant to live. Additional prayers are also welcome and appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Thanks! I think I need to find another surgeon because the IC has been less than helpful so far. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Who should submit the prior authorization? Me, primary physician, or surgeon? My insurance policy does not include bariatric coverage, so I was going to appeal the expected denial but I need a denial first. Has anyone ever had experience or heard of anyone getting coverage when their policy excludes it? Thanks!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. No, by the time I paid for the surgery, travel and lodging, I could pay out of pocket here. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I have been needing/wanting to get the VSG for about 5 years now. I've researched it and am convinced it is a necessary tool for me. I have worked in the clinical trial industry for the past 11 years. The 1st company I was at had an exclusionary clause in the insurance policy (UHC) for bariatric services, the 2nd company (UHC) did as well. Now today, I find out my current company (BCBS of Florida (although I live and work in NC)) has the same damn clause!!!! I'm so devastated. I don't know what I can do to get this done, but God willing; I'll find a way. Any prayers and good vibes are more than welcome. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  7. I'm in the process of getting approved for VSG and am researching every possible thing I can think of. One thing I'm wondering is how is your thirst? I know you can only sip a little amount of Water every few minutes but I worry about being very very thirsty. I imagine it would be like it is when you have a tummy bug and vomit a lot. Thanks!!
