Beyond Aggravated
Medical has denied my Titration study! Now I am worried that I will never get the surgery. Everything else has cleared. No CPAP measurements, anesthesiology says no surgery. Can this really be the end for me? ???? Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

Nicotine Testing
I know my surgeon in RI does urine test and said that it will pick up anything within the last 2 months. Good luck to you. I hope everything works out for you. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

Beyond Aggravated
I understand that it's for safety reasons. I am not worried about being approved, just aggravated because it has been delayed. After 2 years of waiting and now I continue to wait. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

My appointment is for 2 weeks from now (which is why preop was canceled). If medical approves it before that appointment, they will move my appointment up. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

Beyond Aggravated
Our surgeon has us do nutrition and psych first, he submits for approval then does the rest. I guess just to be sure that we don't go through all that for nothing. I have no doubt that I will get cleared, it has just been delayed until I am fitted for the mask because anesthesia won't allow it until they have the settings. I just sucks that I did everything I could to ensure this was all done on time, I didn't want anymore delays, now this. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

Beyond Aggravated
I have been fighting for 2 years to make it through this process and get scheduled for my RNY. Now, when I finally see a light at the end of the tunnel, I hit an obstacle. My surgery was approved prior to doing the testing. Everything was going great, preop scheduled for 8/25. Then I got a phone call today from the surgeons office, my preop has to be cancelled because I have been diagnosed with moderate to severe sleep apnea. I have to be fitted for a CPAP before they can reschedule unless my doctor is willing to write a letter clearing me for surgery without the machine. Of course that is not happening. I just want to cry. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

Medicaid questions. Newbie.
I am also on state medical in RI. They required 4 months with nut, BMI of 40 w/o comorbidities or 35 with. Also multiple previous documented failed Weight-loss attempts. This is my second time through the process. My first attempt was denied based on insufficient documented attempts. My BMI was 40 at the time and I am pre-diabetic. Being pre-diabetic is not considered a comorbidity. Now, on my 2nd attempt, I was approved. My BMI is now 44. Because each state offers there own medical plans, the requirements do vary. Good luck to you! Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

10 Months Post Op Update
You are a major inspiration to me. I'm just starting my journey. I am at my HW now at 265 lbs. My surgeon recommends that I aim for 185. I want to get back to 130-140 range. I am not very athletic, actually, I am rather tired and sore all the time. I do plan to put my all into this and hope to look as good as you by next year! After-surgery goals are
I think I can definitely agree with these goals. I would however add - Look at myself in a full length mirror without crying. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

Curiosity, Please help
I guess my surgeon is a little backwards, I already have approval before all the testing. Glad to know that I am not the only one scared. I will let everyone know what happens at my appointment on the 25th. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

Kinda freaked out
I am 35, 5' 5 1/2", I am pre-diabetic, have heels spurs, and been having joint problems. Despite what anyone says to me, I am doing this. I am still new to the process but I wish you luck! Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

Curiosity, Please help
@@cc1967, Thank you. I have started practicing mindful eating. I have an app on my phone called Baritastic. This app has timers for chewing, as well as timers to keep me from eating and drinking too close together. It also has reminders for taking the supplements. The information you gave helped me to bring this all to reality. @@Shrinkinqtpi, Thank you. I do realize that every clinic is different. All the required testing must be completed prior to my preop or they will reschedule. I am trying to avoid having it rescheduled. I have done my EKG and Upper GI. Working on the sleep study and blood work. Everything is set up to be completed prior to my preop appointment. I think I'm just scared that something is going to happen and either make this not happen or delay it at the least. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

Curiosity, Please help
As far as the approval, my understanding is that I already got it. I did nutritionist and psych. Then they submit for approval. Once approved, he does the rest of the tests. As for smoking, I quit the day I found out that I was approved. The only thing that I was told is that surgery is normally 30 days after preop. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

Curiosity, Please help
Since I am only in the beginning stages of this process, I am wondering if someone can please tell me what to expect. I am almost done all my testing and my preop appointment is on August 25. What should I expect to happen at the preop? Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

Breaking habits before surgery
Thank you everyone for the advice. I am definitely going to look into a diffuser bottle. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

E Cigarette (vaping)
I also quit using a vape pen. It is not for everyone. My surgeon said 2 months nicotine free. He does a urine test as well. He didn't specify how I should quit, just that I do.so far I am doing well. No nicotine for at least 2 weeks now. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

Breaking habits before surgery
Ok, since I got medical approval, I know that I need to break some bad habits. One thing I can't seem to do is drink water! I have to add some sort of flavor to it. It's mostly tap Water that I can not stand at all. I can drink bottled water from time to time, but only if nothing else is quenching my thirst. Did anyone else deal with this? Any recommendations to help drink more water?

"You had that fat people surgery"
I have been told by many people that I am taking the easy way out. I tried not to tell anyone what I was doing, except my husband, until I got medical approval. Once I got approved, I told my family first, then announced it to everyone else. For those that say it's the easy way, I just brush it off. My husband, though he says he supports me in this, insists that I just need to be more active and diet more. Despite it all, it is my body and my choice. I am willing to put in the work, just need the jump-start this will give me. Anyone that says this is easy has no idea what they are talking about. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

How long if diagnosed with sleep apnea will I have to wait for surgery? Or do I not have to wait?
I was told the same as trekker954. I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea and not given a machine. The doctor said that if I lose weight the apnea will go away. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App
